1. You have two pre-amps and a "boost" on the big board. Do you switch between them, or cascade them?
2. I've had quite a few pedals shipped to me like this and never thought much of it!
3. Sorry I've been away from this thread You should be able to register sampletank on your offline PC. There are some steps here for T-Racks which should work the same http://www.ikmultimedia.com/faq/index.php?id=3602
4. Star & Garter on Sunday and it was ace! It's the first time I've been there, such a shame it's under threat. The other acts I saw were great too. I'm not really into punk but these guys had me grinning all night!
5. interesting. If you could tell us the name of the software you want to use, maybe we can figure out a way to activate it in XP I wouldn't try to upgrade from XP to Win 7, you'll ruin your stable tranquility
6.
Heck, some of their old stuff had good sounds, you just had to program them well.
I don't understand. Are you older or younger than 60? And does your Zoom unit still sound as good as it did when it was worth £350? 'cos I've seen them cheaper these days and I don't imagine the cheaper ones are as good
7. You're correct that keeping it offline has kept it stable. Not just because of malicious software but also due to avoiding any updates or changes to your software I'm confused by your issue. Copying files from your internet PC to your music PC should work fine. You mention a "download manager" which isn't compatible with XP, but your XP machine isn't online so it doesn't need to download anything? I'm guessing you've downloaded a music program that you want to use on your music PC, but it won't run as it's not compatible with XP, is that right?

well, I've not opened it, but I doubt there's a trim pot inside so it must be fixed. It does "feel" very fast, yes. I use mine with the ratio up full so it really is a limiter
9. I'm younger than 60 and therefore a genius. I have about 60 individual effects pedals which I love. If I were to ever start gigging on bass again I'd try to replicate my sounds using one of the larger multi-effects units (and I like Zoom) and I wouldn't anticipate any problems But then "mojo" is not quantifiable, and I've proven on more than one occasion that people's eyes influence what they hear in their mind.
10. Maybe a new multi-effects unit for the smaller stages?
11. Arrrgh just lost a long post.... I used to use a Tascam unit like this: http://www.thomann.de/gb/tascam_16x08.htm and would recommend it! Now I use MOTU. The Tascam lasted for years but started to glitch. I think it was probably more to do with the USB bus on my PC. The MOTU unit I have now is PCIe so I don't have experience of them over USB
12. I'm up to date again
13. ooops! Don't know how I missed that, sorry EDIT: I'm not keeping track but have noticed a few likes coming through, so thanks!
14. USB 3 should be quicker than firewire though I think?
15.
56 likes given and 8 received - not a great ratio so far
Are you talking about the link in your sig? If so it's not in the list so I hadn't liked it, but have just done so
16.
...hobby...
The cat is among the pigeons!
17.
the only tones people seem to video are the really bright, Geddy-esque types...
If you play your electric bass acoustically it's pretty bright. That's how I practice so it's how I like to sound amped up too
18. ahh, that's why it's in twice on the list! Thanks
19.
Yes, yes he does - hence my 'somewhere between the..' comment I added. Instead of using dampening in the drum I moved mine to the batter head. I couldn't remember the name of the head but I see that Moos3h mentioned the EMAD head and I believe that's the one! So yes, the foam ring does indeed have the same effect that a jumper does resting up against the head. However I think that there is a train of thought that a rolled up jumper, pillow, blanket or coat has additional 'dampening qualities' inside the drum (As do professional damping products.) My own kit didn't seem to need it but that's by no means an indicator of what is right or wrong, just my experience with this particular kit.
Cool, those EMAD heads look ace, might have to get one!
20. yep, I do it all for the buzz
21. How did Headsticks make it on there twice?! Not that I'm complaining!
22.
Sorry cheddatom, I should have qualified my statement. This was never in a conventional rock setting.
What sort of music does this sound suit? I play in a reggae band and a folk band (as well as a rock band) and I feel I get much more "punch" without the front head and with some dampening. Without dampening it's just too wild
23.
Hmmm! - My own kit I'd use no dampening inside the bass drum. My tuning was somewhere between the Bob Gatzen method and something a drumming friend showed me. Using Evans heads with the foam dampening ring on...
I guess your foam ring has a similar effect to the small jumper I have pushed against the head. I've watched Bob Gatzen's videos and he always seems to use some form of dampening on the kick?
24.
This is where it gets contentious - the best drummers I have played with didn't use ported kick drums (nor did they have damping on their drums either).
Fair enough to prefer no port, but no dampening?!? Surely a kick drum sounds sh*te with no dampening? I'll have to try this
25. Never had a problem micing a kick without a hole Having said that I prefer the sound of a mic inside the drum, for which a hole is essential I leave the front (or back?) head off my kick drums as I prefer that "slap" sound
