1. sorry, yes, you're right. Replace the footswitch in an ABY pedal with a momentary switch. Connect this switch to a new jack socket (as well as retaining the ABY connection) on the ABY pedal. Drill a hole in the side of your Freeze, put a jack socket in connected to the footswitch. Plug a patch cable between the two new jack sockets. Sorted! That sounds like a right PITA the Freeze is a momentary footswitch right? And I think the zoom has a footswitch input? I'd wire half a jack cable to the footswitch in your freeze, just tape it on, then plug the jack end into the zoom's socket, and see if you can make the freeze footswitch control the zoom.
2.
Well, let's not remove it just yet. I'm hoping that everyone who put their band up will actually like us back before too long!! ...
I've noticed loads of new likes, and just assumed most were from basschat!? Anyway, I've done my bit
3. If you had an ABY switch, you could have it set to Y, then play the note, then switch back to just A. Have the output of both chains blended back together using your LS-2. So, you don't use the input or sends from the LS-2, you just use it as a mixer.
4. I'd get an octave pedal and learn to transpose the parts up an octave, so when he goes to play a solo, you play an octave up but use the octaver to provide the bass Or you could go nuts with distortion, but you'll need something which gives a big boost in the upper mids without sucking all the low end. Tech 21 Bass XXL maybe? I guess the greenmile is a big muff, which are well regarded on bass, and will certainly thicken the sound, but in my opinion wouldn't do much to fill the gap that rhythm guitar is filling

BOSS ODB-3

The Boss ODB-3. Why does this pedal get so much stick? I've been jamming with a heavy band recently, and my set up has been my usual blended tube screamer type, and then a fuzz of my choice for extra dirt when needed. I noticed I'd got a spare power cable on my daisy chain so went to look at my (large) pedal collection to choose something else to play with. Previously I'd been messing with tremolo and phasers in this position, but I decided to try the Boss ODB-3 for fun. I set it to bass 3 o'clock, treble 12, blend 9, gain just slightly on. As soon as I kicked it on I remembered why I love this pedal. The low end is just ball tickling. I know the usual comment is that it sounds "fizzy", but I think these people are either using too much gain, not enough clean blend, or have a very, very trebly sound from their amp.
6. You should be able to put a bit of kick drum through your existing set-up without the need for a sub, IMO. I guess it depends how loud you want to go
7.
It wasn't an open poll to begin with - there was a set list of bass players to choose from...
So why include Jaco on a metal list?!? Weird!
8. Have you tried EQing the kick to give more thump and less thwack with your existing setup?
9. Cool, i'll let you know how we get on!
10. I use a tube screamer type pedal with the gain set very low, and blended about 50% with clean. This goes into a limiter, which goes into a behringer BDI21. It's a bit much if you just want one nice overdrive sound, but I've been doing this for years and it's the sound that works for me. I can get a totally clean signal or a nice dirty signal with loads of bite, just by playing harder.
11. I use a combination of mirrors, cellotape, and roofies
12. No, The Talisman, which I've never heard of!
13. I'm back up to date I've noticed lots of new likes on all my pages so thanks very much!
14. I use loads of pedals, so I'm not sure it's relevant, but I love the sound and feeling I get from my peavey 150 15" combo with a peavey classic 50 2 x 12" guitar combo running off the high/crossover output. It goes way louder than I would ever need
15. Nice line up! I'm playing in Tunstall that night but will head over if I get time
16.
Dunno, I went for a curry after soundcheck so got in half way through the first bands first song....only 3 bands on though so less to go wrong. Friday just gone I turned up to a gig that one of my students was playing. Doors opened 20 minutes late!!! I agree, pretty poor organisation with the new promoter, and we only got paid £25 for selling £125 worth of tickets :-(
Ouch! That won't even cover your curry!
17.
...Box in Crewe...
Yo Tom, just out of interest, did they open the doors on time? It always seems to badly organised there, but it's an ace venue
18. Sorry for the lateness, the sample is here: http://rifffactory.co.uk/animated.mp3 I play the same riff 3 times, once on clean, once with just the animated on, and then once with the animated at 50% blend where I like it There's absolutely no processing going on here, everything is flat
19. You have two pre-amps and a "boost" on the big board. Do you switch between them, or cascade them?
20. I've had quite a few pedals shipped to me like this and never thought much of it!
21. Sorry I've been away from this thread You should be able to register sampletank on your offline PC. There are some steps here for T-Racks which should work the same http://www.ikmultimedia.com/faq/index.php?id=3602
22. Star & Garter on Sunday and it was ace! It's the first time I've been there, such a shame it's under threat. The other acts I saw were great too. I'm not really into punk but these guys had me grinning all night!
23. interesting. If you could tell us the name of the software you want to use, maybe we can figure out a way to activate it in XP I wouldn't try to upgrade from XP to Win 7, you'll ruin your stable tranquility
24.
Heck, some of their old stuff had good sounds, you just had to program them well.
I don't understand. Are you older or younger than 60? And does your Zoom unit still sound as good as it did when it was worth £350? 'cos I've seen them cheaper these days and I don't imagine the cheaper ones are as good
25. You're correct that keeping it offline has kept it stable. Not just because of malicious software but also due to avoiding any updates or changes to your software I'm confused by your issue. Copying files from your internet PC to your music PC should work fine. You mention a "download manager" which isn't compatible with XP, but your XP machine isn't online so it doesn't need to download anything? I'm guessing you've downloaded a music program that you want to use on your music PC, but it won't run as it's not compatible with XP, is that right?
