1. Love this thread. Tools are funny, in Manchester we'd just rip him off, but in Liverpool... He'd be missing his kidneys by now
2. No he is not a luthier, but he does know a lot about basses. I'm going to leave it as it is as it was took in for an adjustment the other week an nothing was mentioned about this. I'll let you know what he means when he gets back to me
3. I've been told by my friend that there'sa "bend in the neck" on my lakland skyline JO5. I love the bass the way it is and don't want to change it unnecessarily. What does this mean? Am I in the crapper? What should I do? Thanks
4. I've played on them before, and I understand about scale lengths affecting strings, but please can someone explain to me why the fanned frets? What do they do that's so special? (I don't want to start an argument, I'm just thick...)
5. Sold this guy some flatwounds. Very quick payment, great guy
6. If he doesn't work out I have a very good teacher in the Warrington area. Pro guy so sometimes there's a month or two without a lesson, but a top notch teacher. Think I'm seeing him myself while I back from uni!
7. Here's another addition. An original design Electro Harmonix Doctor Q It has a single Range knob and a Bass switch. Has quite a few scratches on the cover and a missing rubber foot from the previous owner. This doesn't affect the pedal functioning at all. £35 delivered for this one. Here's a link to the pics: http://s1160.photobucket.com/albums/q492/alstocko/ Also for sale is a Digitech dual band compressor. Good quality, fully functioning, I just don't use it! £30 posted Cheers
8. Here we go! First up we have a Hughes and Kettner Tube 20 guitar amplifier. It is an all valve combo, with a 12' Celestion speaker (8 ohm) and a built in power attenuator. It has an incredible clean sound, and a great distortion. All four of the valves (2 pre, 2 power) were checked over last year when it had a complete service. Two valves were replaced and the power ones were rebaised by the technician. Due to it's fragile nature I must insist that the buyer collects the item themselves, but if it comes to it, I will do my best to pack for courier travel. However, I will not accept responsibility if the amp is broken in transit!!! I'm asking for £175 for this beauty till Friday! Next up is the classic Jim Dunlop Cry Baby Wah. There's not much I need to say about this as it is so famous, but here's the blemishes: Chipped paint on side. Clip on battery cover snapped off. These do not affect the sound, and the cover can be replaced very cheaply. 9. Rotos sold. That was speedy!
10. La bellas sold. Rotos still here
11. Rotosound Monel flats 105-45 AS NEW (with tatty packaging, but never used!) £25 delivered La Bellas 760FS flats 105-45 used a bit (broken in a bit if you like, cut for fender headstock) £20 delivered PM me with any queries if you have any!
12. Sorry, bad week, but nevertheless, I shouldn't have been so blunt
13. I love these strings, especially the steels. They're on my Lakky JO5 right now and are brilliant! I personally don't notice a huge difference in "stiffness" but they get me a killer jazz tone. Price is a problem though...
14.
Lakland? B strings love a 35" neck
+1 for the Lakkies! My JO5 is incredible! THE tone for me.
15.
Lakland DJ5 or JO5
+1 to the JO5 Both versions are amazing! A 35' with the best B I've ever heard (yet to try dingos) and sounds just like a jazz should (much better than the fenders at their own game in my opinion!) Happy hunting, quack bang and all that...
16.
Buy the book as its not gonna be a million miles away from any bass clef version
I'll make my own mind up thanks...
17.
Jeezo, I just missed this to make a pair with the Cab I had, but sods law, moved it on and went TecAmp. Fab Cab worked well with my 5ivers. Its probably gone already.
It's not gone to waste here! Wish I had the money to complete this pair!
18. Super impressed! Yet another great product from Geoff's teaching (not including myself in that list, yet...)
19. Here's a +1 to Geoff's reputation as a teacher. Very highly recommended. Knows his theory, takes you through your weak points step by step (eg, my technique) sterling player and most importantly a great guy. You're missing out by not having lessons from him right now!
20. Is that 6th edition European edition or US?
21. Very tempted to get an iGig case for my lakland/markbass gig set up. I'm assuming that it fits 35' scale necks (is this a stupid comment? I'm new to 35's...)
