Someone better do the right thing here. I do not need another bass.
Thanks for the posts Owen, I'm moving out of my Hull place next weekend and I'm already getting flack about the multiple (three plus one double) that are coming back with me. Someone take this off my hands and I can say that I'm thinning the collection

Hey guys, I've got my beloved Joe Osborn 5 up for sale. Unfortunately it's just not getting played much any more to justify me keeping this beauty, so I'm looking for a new home for it! It's the "Skyline" series, so crafted in Korea and assembled in the USA. However, if you ask many Lakland owners (me included!) there's so little difference between these and the USA versions that these are more "bang for your buck". It weighs around 4.25kgs and is strung with some pretty new D'addario Nickel Wounds. This creates a great tone with a low B that is tight and well pronounced. Like all Lakland 5ers, it's a 35" scale bass. I can either be strung through-body or over the top, I have gone for the latter. There's recordings here with Lakland JO flats on it: https://soundcloud.c.../sets/5er-lines There's pictures here: http://s1160.photobu...s/Lakland%20JO5 Based in Hull, Will be going over to the North-West first weekend of April. A lovely bass, I hope it can find a loving home soon. UK Sale only please, trying to thin the collection down, so no trades and I won't post abroad. Peace, Alec

Hey guys, First of all, Merry Christmas! I hope you all had a great day! Secondly, I recently recorded a piece of music which I arranged for my group "Projects" which I've been moving towards playing the music of my ancestors; Scottish Folk. We added our twist of Jazz as we're all music students specialising in that department. This is a live recording, which I mixed pretty quickly, but I'm pretty pleased with the result! Our violinist isn't too happy we picked the take with his solo with the mistakes in it, but it was the best overall performance! Unfortunately some of the cymbals spilled into the violin mic, so the drum sound was brought down a bit... Anyway, I hope you all enjoy it and all comments are welcome below! http://soundcloud.com/alecstockton/queen-among-the-heather/s-oiSUQ Peace, Alec
Right off the bat -- if you love something and are willing to pay the price, it's worth it. Enjoy. Now, let's move on, shall we? One can argue that MIM aren't as good as a Squier VM, therefore it's overpriced, and that may be a viable argument. There are dozens of boutique and custom built basses that cost 10 times as much as a stock Fender but aren't 10 times as good so the cost can't be justified. Maybe. But which company do you think is the most outrageously overpriced? I have to go with Fodera. True, personally I'm not that impressed with the basses. They play well but don't sound all that great and don't look all that great. But that's subjective. And even if I loved them, I'd STILL think the price was nuts. THIS http://www.fodera.co...%20Feb.2013.pdf is not only obscene, it's insulting in my opinion. And those numbers are American dollars, so double that. (And add shipping costs from the U.S. ) And Fodera's don't even come finished! It's bare wood, so it looks worn just a few months after purchase. I feel this is a product that depends mostly on "snob appeal." The funny thing is, besides a few famous endorsees (who I assume get basses for free) it seems that the people buying these instruments are more hobbyists looking for that "dream instrument" than pros who need a solid workhorse. No offense is intended toward Forera owners. But if there's anyone out there more bonkers in regard to cost, let's hear it!
Janek Gwizdala saved up for both of foderas and gets a small artist discount (he didn't get one on his first one) so he's spend $20k on fodera instruments. He says that he values them like he would a car
