Tip: Avoid pain by always keeping your strap-on. Fnarr.
Unfortunately I have to take my strap off my bass to fit in the iGig comfortably, so Dunlop strap locks were my solution. My main bass is a beat up P so I don't mind, but still yet to hit it (or my mint Lakkie) with the locks... Back on topic, I used to use (until recently) a comfort strapp, too bouncy for me so gone back to a leather guitar one as I don't like very wide straps. I may eventually order a Minotaur as they look pretty cool. A Brookwood Leather one would be awesome though...

Can't believe that I missed this! I live so close too!

Kids do not learn any slapbass from this man.
I'm the same when it comes to enjoying Gospel music but without the religious part. Ironically it's usually the big hip hop guys that like to use the best of modern gospel players on their music. Mike Elizondo on bass for example on a lot of Dr. Dre's stuff, also his producer for a while. Take a listen to Erykah Badu and (already noted) D'Angelo. And if you don't get round to listening to any of that then definitely listen to Robert Glasper, who I can't recommend enough
Glasper is ridic. Also Robert "Bubby" Lewis is another player like that, listen to some of his playing with Snoop on YouTube. Insanely delish

I've modded a couple on basses before, the best result being my a P Bass that I bought off davehux a few months ago. I swapped out the pickup for a Wizard Trad, changed the strings twice, once to Ken Smith Slick Rounds, then to D'Addario Chromes. Settled on the Chromes, and will soon be putting in a KiOgon Loom as the electronics are nasty. It sounds insanely good, and is now my main gigging bass. Pics and sound clips will be up soon!
That's more like it! Bit of an all star band there! Pino, ?uestlove, and is that BB on guitar?! Need to look for some D'angelo now..... Any suggestions for "best" album?
Voodoo, a thousand times Voodoo Hands down in my top five albums. His debut Brown Sugar is pretty dope too, highlights are: Brown Sugar, sh*t Damn Mutherf***er (sometimes written as SDM) and Lady Also, it's Spanky on geetar. Died a few years back, I could listen to him play that one note for days... Poysner is playing some tasty stuff in that video
Janek Gwizdala said that he has forced himself to take his old P bass to any pop auditions rather than his Fodera because producers want to see whatever guitars were flavour of the month in MTV videos that particular month....
I remember having this conversation with Janek and he said that the first Precision that he ever owned was bought because he went to a Pop audition with his Wal, and they told him to go out and get a P, and then he would be on the tour! Crazy, but I see their point... Still, I have an insatiable lust for all things Precision Bass!
I'm not looking for anything fancy, any 4 string bass would be welcome as long as it's not an AC.
I was going to offer you one to borrow too...
Ditto. Although I read he's retired now. Which is a real shame, as I've loved everything he put out. Did some fantastic work making some pups for my GW which really opened up the sound. But I digress.
I've got a trad in my P, incredible! I got mine only a couple of months ago, so he wasn't retired then. It'd be a shame if he has since as I wanted to load ever P I ever get with one!

That was great great great. Third time running that I've seen them at BOTW. Had a great catch-up with Mike League and a nice chat with Cory about dance moves and organ fills. I even took the girlfriend along and she enjoyed it a lot! I believe that we have a convert! Great set from the young musicians and some nice new tunes from the Pups!

Alright guys, I didn't say that I agree with the list, I just put it up for a bit of fun. The way that people react to stuff like this is driving me further and further away from BC

According to this website... http://www.vintageguitar.com/special-features/25-most-valuable-basses/ I knew that the '60-'62 jazz would be at the top, after Guy Pratt talking about his that he got from David Gilmour as a wedding present after lusting after his for years, but I didn't realise that there would be so many Gibsons!
Yes i see where you are coming from, well i'm using Markbass LM Tube800 amp at the moment and thought at first it would make sense to get one of the mark bass traveler cab's but recently i have been more and more drawn to the barefaced cabs would love the opportunity to hear one before I buy
Man, I use an LMT with a midget that I got off here a couple of weeks ago. Sublime
I don't have a preference. In my humble opinion what type of wood a bass is made from has very little influence on the sound. You may find this thread of interest: http://basschat.co.u...-of-great-tone/ And going even further back in time, this thread: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/73234-tonewoods/
I'm also from this thought. The changes (if any) are very minute aurally.
I have a st of the LaBellas with minimal use is anyone wants to try them. Swapsies for a set of metal flats (as in stainless not Slayer)
I'd like them, don't have any spare flats though, they're all on basses!

Got myself a P a couple of months ago with a white scratchplate, safe to say that I'm not a huge fan. I'm looking into getting a black pickguard to look like this: http://julieannamos.hubpages.com/hub/Fender-Bass Quite individual me thinks, what are your likes/dislikes when it comes to scratchplate colours?

Two midgets with vintage cloth would work me thinks...

Best flats for a P Bass guys and gals?
Laklands or La Bella FLs for me. Laklands edge it, and they're very reasonably priced.
+1 I've used Laklands for almost a year now. Used to use La Bellas but when I got a Lākland JO5 I though I should try the strings out too. Blew my mind -
Darryll Clarkson - had played with the (now disbanded) Profane and now plays with Cyril Snear. Darryll's been a mate for about 15 years, much more so in the last 3/4 years. You'd probably know him if you've shopped for a bass in Manchester; he currently holds the dubious moniker of having worked in 99% of the guitar shops in Manchester in the last 15 years. He's a great all rounder, and having 'duetted' a few times, I really bow to his prowess. Anyhow, a quick google of either band will show plenty of material. Darryll is well worth checking out - great to see him out playing shows again.
I may have seen him then...
Have you tried Newtone. Even if they're not listed on the site they do make custom strings to order.
I was going to ring them last week but saw that they had no flatwounds on offer, but now that you say that, I will enquire about the possibility of getting a set. Thanks
