Mandy Lion's WWIII? I have the first album and it's great! Love the second one too but have never got around to buying it. First discovered him on a Metal Hammer cover cassette in 1991 that had Love You To Death on it. I've never spoken to anyone who has even heard of him before.
No, I mean the Jonas Brothers track. Sorry dude...

Your Bass Lines - How Quickly Do They Come?
alstocko replied to xilddx's topic in General Discussion
I play a Fusion of Jazz/Funk/Hip-Hop, so most of my lines are based around improvisation so it sticks to ideas that I come up with in rehearsals and the composing process. I am the main composer in our group, but we work as a democracy, so everyone has a say if we think that something isn't working. I find that this is the most productive, inspirational and enjoyable atmosphere that I have ever been in -
I am a Jazz musician. I have no place in this thread
I'm a Jazz fusion musician. I'm white and play hip-hop and funk grooves in improvised sections. I have no place anywhere

As somebody really wanting to go to Berklee as part of a true undergrad, I have confirmed my place on their 5 week summer school as a feeler to see what it's actually like. My application for the scholarship (I have the chance at one for full tuition and board paid for!) is due in on March 1st. Unfortunately, this is the only way that I can afford to go, so wish me luck! I'm so f-ing psyched to go, it's been my dream for years! Just wanted to vent my excitement on here, carry on guys...

We had an old P copy encore at my college. It was called the Red Baron for a reason. For some reason people kept on using it on recordings, and it would sound sh*te regardless of any studio magic. It had a dodgy jack socket, one working pot, a scratchplate that didn't fit, stickers on the fretboard and some sticky residue from god knows what. I should go back and take that bass, I easily spent more than its worth on keeping that alive...
Anyone mentioned Garry Tallent (Bruce Springsteen & the E St. Band)?
I did earlier! Finally some recognition for the big guy!
Laurence Cottle - Session work and composer, he also demo's for GB Basses Saw him play a duet with Jeff Berlin a few years ago and I thought he played better stuff than Jeff did.
+1 here. He personally got me into jazz and mentored Janek Gwizdala
What a dumb quote! Who said that originally? I need to ridicule them.
Victor Bailey's dad said to him that there's no money past the 5th fret. Does that make you even angrier?

Famous muso you'd love to play with
alstocko replied to nobodysprefect's topic in General Discussion
For me: 1. Springsteen, as I was raised on his music 2. Snarky Puppy, as I absolutely adore this group 3. Miles (back in the 50s/60s/70s) -
My first amp a Kustom 10 watt 1x10" combo has to be near the top No bass whatsoever, huger hiss if you had the mid or high above 0, and weighs a f***ing ton for a tiny amp! EDIT: I think I actually still have this lying around...

Hey guys, Unfortunately, I am having issues with my Markbass LMT (bought on here about a year ago!) I think the bearing on the fan is gone, as it makes quite a loud noise for the first few minutes of start up, then goes quieter afterwards. As I'm in recording studios quite a bit, I could really do with getting this fixed. Who should I contact? The Markbass website wasn't very helpful in telling me who is licenced over here to sort out their amps. Anybody have any ideas? They will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Alec

I have an Artec Big Dots tuner. Great pedal, by far the most visible in darkness on a stage (especially when I don't wear my glasses!) Can be a bit temperamental with the low B though. Apart from that, stunning pedal! Only cost me £15 here on BC!

Anyone got any thoughts on the Roland Micro Cube?
[sub]Is he still going MB1?[/sub] [sub]He must be about 90![/sub] [sub]Bought my first guitar from him ( a knackered old Antoria LP IIRC)[/sub]
The original JR died a few years back I believe I think his son runs it now, still as great a shop as it always was! I got an incredible vintage Conn trumpet from them for just over £100!
