1. It's a box. Where do I claim my prize?
2. If it wasn't for the fretboard inlay I would say it's the only Les Paul that I would describe as "pretty".
3. Quite a few Ibanez basses have this setup as far as I'm aware?
4. I have the pedaltrain mini and find the softcase does the job with no complaints. If you're wanting great protection I would go for a hard case though. As above, they aren't particularly padded but they aren't just cloth.
5.
I use my best / favourite bass for gigging and take a spare. After all it's what they were made for.
This. I only have 2 basses. Both of which I would consider brilliant. Certainly both of them are at a value where I would be rather unhappy if something bad happened to them. I just make sure it's supervised at all times.
6. When I got my first 'high end' bass I babied it for the full time I owned it. Eventually I realised that I bought the thing to play and enjoy. At the moment I use both of my basses as I would use any cheaper basses. I play them quite hard but onstage I'm not much of a mover so no real issues there other than accidentally hitting things (which I try not to do). I still take as much care of them as I can to avoid these things happening but it's not the end of the world if something does happen. If my bass gets a dent or a nick in it then it would annoy me for a while but as long as it does the job it's designed for I'm happy.
7. Music is what I listen to 99% of the time. If I'm completely honest, I'm extremely picky about vocals on songs which results me often listening to music trying to mentally block out the singer. I also listen to quite a lot of music that isn't sung in English meaning I can't really do anything about the lyrics other than google them. If it's a band where I like the vocals I'll usually listen to the lyrics and the music as a whole.
8. https://soundcloud.com/goon-and-the-kings/new-funk-one/s-c5Dmp This was recorded on a Zoom handheld recorder. Picks up everything really well I think. Disclaimer : If you end up listening please ignore the bit I haven't written yet.
9. Here you go Rob
10.
Recent convert to the Wal club - here's mine:
Woah...
11. As much as a tribute or cover band is my idea of the worst ever night out I do agree with what has been said (although not particularly how it has been said), if you don't like them don't go. Sadly it is much more profitable to play other peoples music than it is to write your own.
12. Sounds hellish to me but I suppose they're the ones making money from music and not me.
13.
Yeah, maybe the seller was super hurting for cash and sold to whoever got the cash in his hands first.
Regardless of that, the seller should make the buyer (in this case Twincam) aware that there is someone else who has got there first. It's common courtesy. It's really just a case of an inconsiderate seller wasting someones time which can easily be avoided just by adding into one of the (seemingly many) e-mails that he has another prospective buyer.
14. Go on then... ...lighting isn't the best to show off the ACG though!
15. As Si said. Buy what works for you. I've always found cheap distortions/overdrives to just not be usable in a live setting but Darkglass works amazingly (I'd say they count as boutique?) but on the other hand even the cheapest of reverb pedals is ideal for what I need.
16.
I tweeted GuitarGuitar this pic and they called me saying how the whole office thought it was great and have given me some free strings with my order because of it haha!
Score!
17. Good idea to me
18. Would fancy trying a 5 string set of these actually. I've been using Elixirs for years now and part of me wonders if there's anything better...haven't came across anything better yet!
19. That's one hell of a bridge! Best of luck with the sale
20. My reason for justifying any purchases would be "I want it and I can afford it.".
21. I originally started because it looked fun. I often have days where I just can't be arsed playing. The reasons I still play are because it's the only thing I'm half decent at and every so often I have a little streak where I absolutely love it and want to do nothing else. I've never had that feeling with anything else before.
22. For an angry sound a Warwick Thumb would be my choice.
23. As far as tackling it goes I would say make sure you take it slow to begin with. Haven't played it for a year or so but found that if you rushed it even slightly it was a tricky one to just skim over the mistakes.
24. I would say Dingwall would have developed a fair amount more interest since Nolly (Periphery) started using them. I have his signature bass but not because of his signature... just because it's a fantastic bass. In all honesty I actually prefer it to the Afterburner 1 I had a while back. I think there are people who will go out and buy gear just because X has used it, although I think this is more common with guitarists.
25. So how many Peaveys is that now? A scary number I bet!
