1. Heard them on guitar and sounded good but I would imagine (as Heminder said) it would suck out a lot of the low end. I'm yet to use a distortion other than the Darkglass ones that don't actually suck out low end.
2. There isn't but as Telebass said, the mobile version of the site is is great. I just have it as my homepage on dolphin browser (android and Apple) and it may as well act as an app!
3. Haven't heard anything bad about them and although only played one very briefly I found the neck to be very chunky (5 stringer) but the sound was good and it felt nice except from the chunky neck
4. Sigur Rós - Takk... Big contrast from the stuff I was listening to last night (Heart of a Coward).
5. Also cannot be unwatched. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yzC4hFK5P3g
6. Had a Lakland 5501 with nordstrand pickups and I agree with you on the low B remark. The B on the 5501 is one of the clearest I've heard (beaten by Dingwall and the odd Warwick).
7. Postage included type bump
8. Doesn't do much for me either I'm afraid. Playing is good and such just leaves me feeling dry.
9.
Hi cameron. Someone else had said about 5 strings and possibly stringing it BEAD. Ive got an unused set of 5 strings which I'll stick in the case if anyone wants to do this. Steve
I don't think this would be possible for me unfortunately but I think for others it may be, even if just for a few songs and not necessarily a full set
10. Formed my current band -mostly- through Joinmyband. Had a lot of timewasters and complete morons on there but eventually it's paid off and found a group of folk I gel with musically and socially.
11. I know where you're coming from with this to be honest. I played 2 of Nick Schendzielos's basses (his Warwick Dolphin and his custom Streamer) and although it was obvious the basses were superb instruments, the setup was extremely uncomfortable for me to play. There are just so many variables it's a case of getting everything right and if one little thing is out of place (for each individual) it just doesn't feel right at all.
12. If my current band wasn't requiring a 5 string for every song I'd love to get it back up here at some point! Glad to see the relays still going!
13.
Doesn't work like that for me. Being on stage and off it are two completely distinct and separate things for me.
Yup. Ditto.
14.
Question for everyone. Is saying "thank you", "thanks for coming out to see us". Is that advertising? I get that saying "thank you" for some is difficult. That's another discussion. Blue
I see saying thanks is just common courtesy but initiating a conversation is sometimes not so easy for me to do. I was more referring to before gigs or when actually trying to advertise. One day I'll hopefully be less held back...hopefully.
15. I'm in the same camp as Neepheid. I don't feel right trying to advertise my band -which is awful since we have just started gigging and should be doing more-. I'm not a particularly popular guy mainly due to how quiet and subdued I am. I also struggle with things as simple as "my band are playing x venue on x date" without feeling like I'm being quite arrogant.
16. Strings perhaps? (could be way over the £20 threshold depending what brand you use I suppose!). To be honest, I'd be quite content with getting socks.
17. Trades?
18. Was in there today. The 88 thumb bass they have in there keeps taunting me. Good shop and always really friendly whenever I've been in.
19. Last few sets of strings I've bought have been from Bass Direct. Always arrived next day and even get an email from Mark to say he got my payment. Never had an issue.
20.
10 hours plus £35 is a bit more effort than somebody who WANTS TO SELL having to spend an hour or so boxing/booking in.
For some people it's more than an hour or so though. For example it overall takes me maybe 3/4 hours as I don't drive and in order to get a box need to travel into Glasgow (1 bus and 1 train). Having said that. whenever I have sold a bass I always offer delivery option. I have also saw myself travelling to buy some stuff from this parish also.
21.
So, you don't like the look of them - fair enough. The characteristic that might sway you though is in the playing of one surely? I don't think you can write them off without doing so can you?
I wasn't writing them off. I was merely stating that so far I haven't heard or seen one which makes me desire to own it (certainly not more than my current bass which is a good 3x cheaper than some of the cheaper Foderas. I would love to try one and when I do I may change my mind about them.
22. I use the standard Hercules mounts for my AB1 no bother
23. Personally I've never been impressed by a Fodera either Aesthetically or tonally. I would love to try one but I have to say after playing various brands such as ACG, Mayones, Sei, Dingwall and even some Warwicks I've owned, I fail to comprehend where the extra 4k+ would be worth it. Again. I would stress that this is my opinion but for the price of a Fodera I could get 3/4 ACGs. I know what my money would be going on.
24. If I had 3k burning a hole in my pocket I'd be looking at another Dingwall or an ACG uber spec bass (so with the multi coil pickups and the Dual Filter Preamp. I'd certainly be leaving towards the custom route with that amount of money...get it exactly how you like and all that.
25. Top.
