1. Great except from getting my only hoodie nicked. I did royally bugger up one of the chordal sections however nobody noticed...I think.
2.
If you send us exact measurements we can try and set up a bass as close as possible to the same size and measure for you Edit - we did this recently for someone with an extended Alembic and discovered that the only thing that worked was a Hiscox abs case.
Not exactly sure who it was I spoke to but you guys also made sure they would fit my Dingwall! And even measured strings for me. great service. edit to answer Ambient : Mine is still as it came from Bass Gear.
3. I use one of the Vertigo bags. I bought initially as it was all I could really find that would fit the Dingwall in it but it's a great bag. There is great neck support inside and its about as sturdy as I imagine you can do without making it extremely heavy. I generally take it to college with me 3 times a week on public transport and have no complaints.
4. Seal of approval from anybody is a good thing in my mind Douglas! Thanks for the nice comment I also do know what you mean about the low end but I found when I added any extra it got a bit too muddy within the mix...but then I am totally useless at this whole recording/mixing malarky!
5.
I enjoyed that, only on lappy speakers but the song is great and from what I heard it won't need too much production work .
Glad you enjoyed
6. So my band finally got something recorded. Although it is just a demo so the production isn't the greatest! anyways, here's the tune! - https://soundcloud.com/goon-and-the-kings/dark-side All comments, criticism and general sarcasm are appreciated! If you liked the tune there's a Facebook page made (with bugger all liked as we don't even have a logo yet! (how professional...))! https://www.facebook.com/goon.and.the.kings Cheers
7. trade for pedaltrain mini type bump.
8. Heard them on guitar and sounded good but I would imagine (as Heminder said) it would suck out a lot of the low end. I'm yet to use a distortion other than the Darkglass ones that don't actually suck out low end.
9. There isn't but as Telebass said, the mobile version of the site is is great. I just have it as my homepage on dolphin browser (android and Apple) and it may as well act as an app!
10. Haven't heard anything bad about them and although only played one very briefly I found the neck to be very chunky (5 stringer) but the sound was good and it felt nice except from the chunky neck
11. Sigur Rós - Takk... Big contrast from the stuff I was listening to last night (Heart of a Coward).
12. Also cannot be unwatched. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yzC4hFK5P3g
13. Had a Lakland 5501 with nordstrand pickups and I agree with you on the low B remark. The B on the 5501 is one of the clearest I've heard (beaten by Dingwall and the odd Warwick).
14. Postage included type bump
15. Doesn't do much for me either I'm afraid. Playing is good and such just leaves me feeling dry.
16.
Hi cameron. Someone else had said about 5 strings and possibly stringing it BEAD. Ive got an unused set of 5 strings which I'll stick in the case if anyone wants to do this. Steve
I don't think this would be possible for me unfortunately but I think for others it may be, even if just for a few songs and not necessarily a full set
17. Formed my current band -mostly- through Joinmyband. Had a lot of timewasters and complete morons on there but eventually it's paid off and found a group of folk I gel with musically and socially.
18. I know where you're coming from with this to be honest. I played 2 of Nick Schendzielos's basses (his Warwick Dolphin and his custom Streamer) and although it was obvious the basses were superb instruments, the setup was extremely uncomfortable for me to play. There are just so many variables it's a case of getting everything right and if one little thing is out of place (for each individual) it just doesn't feel right at all.
19. If my current band wasn't requiring a 5 string for every song I'd love to get it back up here at some point! Glad to see the relays still going!
20.
Doesn't work like that for me. Being on stage and off it are two completely distinct and separate things for me.
Yup. Ditto.
21.
Question for everyone. Is saying "thank you", "thanks for coming out to see us". Is that advertising? I get that saying "thank you" for some is difficult. That's another discussion. Blue
I see saying thanks is just common courtesy but initiating a conversation is sometimes not so easy for me to do. I was more referring to before gigs or when actually trying to advertise. One day I'll hopefully be less held back...hopefully.
22. I'm in the same camp as Neepheid. I don't feel right trying to advertise my band -which is awful since we have just started gigging and should be doing more-. I'm not a particularly popular guy mainly due to how quiet and subdued I am. I also struggle with things as simple as "my band are playing x venue on x date" without feeling like I'm being quite arrogant.
23. Strings perhaps? (could be way over the £20 threshold depending what brand you use I suppose!). To be honest, I'd be quite content with getting socks.
24. Trades?
