1. Lakland 55-01's go for around £400 I believe. think I sold mine (with Nordstrand pickups added) for £500. I'd say the bass is definitely worth £400!
2. I can't vouch for the other two you mentioned but I'm a music student and commute around 3 hours each time I go to college -currently 4 times a week- and I use a Mono M80 Vertigo. The bag provides great protection and neck support for the bass. The pocket on front isn't overly spacious but does have enough space for a few cables, some books/laptop. Worth the money I'd say.
3. Any idea how much these would be to ship? May be looking for a set of these soon
4. Just sold my Warwick Streamer Jazzman to David, sending it over to Sweden. Perfect buyer and I'm sure would be the perfect seller Pleasure dealing with you David, enjoy the Streamer!
5. very crappy photos of my recently acquired Afterburner 1 with Bubinga top which I believe I am now the third basschatter to own. In certain lights the finish looks somewhat purple.
6. Really like that finish. Normally don't like basses that have coloured finishes. GLWTS
7. I believe the bass I just sent to Sweden was 140cm long and cost roughly £50 to send insured to £750. Done using Interparcels own service (so UPS via Interparcel)
8. I always use my audio interface (Acid fast track solo). works for me.
9. Just out of Geroges flat with a light wallet and a Mac mini. Seamless transaction and walked me through any features of it I was curious about. Even tried his Rickenb*cker. good meeting you George and hope to deal with you again
10. Seems to be quite a large majority prefer passive. I've always prefered active. I just like being able to boost/cut certain frequencies quickly without having to fiddle about with an amp. I've always found passive basses that I've played in the past to be very limiting however I'm finding the passive system on my Dingwall AB1 to be pretty damn good.
11. That's a really nice piece of wood you've picked there. What is it?
12. I think bass direct have a set of Circle K F# strings in stock.
13. I used to have the ODB-3 and had the same issue as you I.e it died in the mix. Bought a B3K about 8 months ago and love it. If anything I find it stands out more in a mix than my clean tone. Edit - realised I missed the point : I would sell and not look back.
14. It looks pretty nice although I do find the vertigo to be pretty lightweight and fairly slim! I was doubting the price of them but when I got one the other day from bass gear I could kind of realise why they cost so much.
15. The higher end Ibanez SR's are pretty damn good for the money in my mind. If your budget is the 1k mark then theres a fair few ACGs on here at the moment under that price (I think one or two of them are 34" 5 stringers). There's a Warwick streamer Jazzman for sale here too. Great basses if you get on with Warwick necks!
16.
Better start thinking about that mate! You can't just give her a fiver in a card now!
Need to up it to at least a tenner now. Maybe that's why I have no luck in this department...
17. For mine I got an apology as I didn't get anything...so I'll second Muzz's comment...
18.
Age immaterial always puts me off, smacks of desperate. Of course it matters. I wouldnt want to gig with 18 year olds any more than they would want me cramping their style.
I'm 20 and I much prefer playing in bands with older memebers. find it's always much more professional and quite frankly I learn a lot more from playing with people with more experience.
19. That's absolutely gorgeous.
20. Going to invest in a pedaltrain mini board and was looking into a decent power supply that won't break the bank (too much). I like the idea I'd this but do worry about it being essentially a large battery and worry a little about the battery life and how it operates when the battery isn't fully charged. At most I would be using it for maybe 6 hours a day and it would be powering 4-5 pedals (Tc Polytune, Darkglass B3K, MXR bass compressor (almost always on), MXR Envelope filter and possibly another pedal at some point) Opinions from people who have used this before would be appreciated before I take a plunge
21. Sums my thoughts up appropriately.
22. Haven't had work done from him personally but I've heard nothing but great comments about Martin at the Gallery.
