No, this trick is for kidnappers who wish to prove that their hostage is (was..?) still alive at such-and-such a date, usually recent. Anyone can take a picture of an old newspaper, well after its publication date. It doesn't show ownership at the original date of the paper. Stems from watching too many Yankee films, I wouldn't wonder. Just sayin'; the rest is pukka stuff.
Failing that. Post a picture on tinterwebs of you with the serial number. Date will always be the same on that? But yes, if you don't want gear stolen, buy a Hofner.
Such an awesome bass for the price. A German piece of Warwick win for £370 is a bargain. The fill is purely cosmetic. The neck is really straight and it has a brand new Warwick dual action truss rod which the luthier fitted when repairing and planing.
Agreed Chas. I'm not actually bothered if this goes or not (a little unsure if I want to keep it up here tbh!) but as it's my only bass the weight is an issue. But I will have the ACG in the not overly distant future so once that's here the weight won't be an issue!

Bought this bass not too long ago and it sounds amazing but as I don't drive and have to carry it everywhere, the weight is a slight issue for me. (Curses of being unbelievably weak!) From the previous owner - "It came to me with a broken truss rod. After taking it to a guy who thought he knew what he was doing, I discovered the neck was twisted too. Anyway the guy took the fretboard off and planed a little too much. The area you see in the photos was filled with the dust from the Ovangkol neck, and wood glue+filler." Despite the previous issue the bass plays fantastic (although could use a setup if you like a real low action) and has been my main bass since I got it. One of the screws on the nut (plastic not brass Just a nut) of the bass doesn't appear to work but there is currently a little bit of paper under that side of the nut to prop it up (treble side). Again, this doesn't affect playability and I haven't had a problem with it. I am also using the previous owners pictures (just until I can take some of my of my own but the bass is in the same nick as it was when I got it and has recently been waxed. Comes with the Warwick handbook. Ideally looking for a trade however I'm not exactly sure of what I want a trade for! Preferably a 5/6 string but I'm not overly fussy (just nothing with a Precision pickup). Can also add up to about £200 towards the right trade. 34" scale length Bubinga Body, Ovankal neck, wenge fretboard 2 band preamp (active passive toggle) MEC J pickups Weight - just under 6 Kg Happy to post at buyers expense but I don't have a box or a gig bag for it at the moment which may be an issue... Any questions just ask as I've probably missed out some info Cameron

Not what a well dressed bass wears.

That headstock made me vomit a little. -
My main tip for bass playing is don't take advice on bass playing from me.

Time to revive this thread perhaps? Other night I realised I had basically became worse at bass than I was 3 years ago (been playing 4 years) so deciding to learn songs that challenge me, starting with this one by Tesseract. Couldn't get the tone right http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ccrQewW1Fp8

Headstock string reminders , what a great idea !!!!!
Cameronj279 replied to Ktmman's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
Maybe need to do that just so guitarists don't get confused when trying to find out what I'm playing on the 5 string... -
Anyone got any idea what a Warwick flight case is worth? The basses I can price vaguely but really not sure on the case.
Can't quite remember what I sold mine for but I think it was about £70.

Joker and the thief by Wolfmother would go down well I reckon... -
This won't appeal to many here, but...
Cameronj279 replied to leftybassman392's topic in General Discussion
Impressive. Thanks for sharing -
so far the only single cut designs I've liked have been Alpher instruments but there's something about that Ibanez I quite like. Not sure why though as I don't like the standard BTB's.

Had this a few months ago when trying to trade a thumb bass. Guy messaged me offering me a trade for a bass (not saying which as that'd be practically naming and shaming), I agreed. He then said he'd message me in a week as he was busy. Two weeks went by so I messaged him and got the reply which was along the lines of 'Changed my mind.'

Opinion on ACG Single Cut vs Limelight P Bass
Cameronj279 replied to The Badderer's topic in Bass Guitars
All I can really say on this subject is that I played an ACG and 2 weeks later I had my deposit on a custom build. -
