1.
This is your fault Cam!
I'm a bad man.
2. You already know what I'd say! After (very briefly) owning an ACG it's just made me GAS for one real badly.
3. I had very mixed experiences with the dr coated strings. I used them once about 2 years ago and loved them, stayed nice and bright for a few months, looked great and felt great. fast forward to about 3 weeks ago. bought some and put them on my corvette. sounded great for the first 2 hours then instantly died and felt like a pair or Rotosounds (I.e Crap IMO). Will be sticking to elixirs.
4. I always try and email and just like Neepheid it's because I don't feel confident on phones. I feel more at ease when I email.
5. Saw this earlier, one of the best pieces of tv I've saw in a long time!
6. Never liked W&T basses but keep coming back and looking at this one! GLWTS
7. I'm pretty damn close to Paisley that but I know bugger all about fenders, especially ones like these! Edit for me being daft and showing how little I actually know. I thought it was in Paisley! I'm still not too far away right enough.
8. I believe Jazzbassfreak is looking for one of the Rodenberg pedals! He put an ad in the wanted section last night. Maybe worth giving him a message
9. Please delete.
10. I'm another one for the MXR. Find it extremely transparent. So much so that I keep considering selling it until I turn it off for a song and realise how good it actually is!
11. I'm not understanding the "increase in tone" phrase here? From my experience it's been different but neither increased nor decreased.
12. Well...we're waiting.
13. Just bought some strings from Greame. Fast delivery. as described etc. seamless transaction and hope to deal with you again
14.
So where do orchestral players whose instruments can cost £20, 000 or more come into all of this ? I'm most definitely not middle aged, a lottery winner or rich. I'm a music student who wanted a bass that would do everything I wanted it to do, after a few years of searching and trying different instruments, I found the one in my Modulus. Is it 'high-end' ? I don't know, at £1500 it cost me about half of one of my student loan payments, but to me it's worth every penny.
This was one of the main things that got me curious about this subject. I'm also a music student who also wanted a bass that done everything.
15. Really not understanding the resentment towards people owning expensive instruments. I figure if someone can afford something and they want it then why not.
16. I have a few uploaded. my reasoning is to see how I'm progressing and feedback from other people is also a bonus.
17.
I don't think it's anything to do with price, it's construction, choice of tone woods, attention to detail surely ? A lot of older basses are quite valuable but not necessarily 'high end'. Sei's are surely 'high end' basses, but don't seem to hold their price as well as something like a Fodera or a Wal. My Modulus is (to me) a high end bass, but again not as expensive as a Wal or a Fodera.
I agree with this quite a lot. I would consider the Warwick thumb LTD that I just traded a 'high' end bass but in comparison to the likes of Fodera, Ritter, Wal etc the value is a fraction.
18. Wood on this one is fantastic! GLWTS
19. For me I would normally say price but Fenders quite often sell for a few grand and personally I would never really consider a Fender 'high end'. It's a very vague question that really is open to interpretation really.
20. Was doing the usual struggling to get to sleep last night and had this though. There are plenty of people on here with custom basses, some cheaper than many production models and some the price of a small hatchback. So what is it that makes a bass considered "high end". Is it price, construction, brand?
21. Looks like I have been saying it wrong for years too...
22. If I had £400 to spare I would have took this by now. surprised it's not sold!
23.
That is a stunning ACG!
It really is! Shipping is now booked for the Thumb and I should be receiving an ACG on Tuesday!
