3. Dammit!

People generally forget who I am and just refer to me by stating "he plays bass". I'm sure that doesn't count but I have been called a bassist by a few people, one of which was a bass tutor and the other being a drummer who jammed with Mark King at one point a few months ago.

I agree. I love drop tunings but due to owning only one bass, changing tunings is really not a possibility (except drop D or D Standard, I can just get away with them). It's really annoying because a band that I'm wishing to play in (just need to all find time to get together) plays in Drop A

If anybody knows of a chippy that still sells a deep fried mars bar, I would like to know. Been looking for bloody years!

I will say this, Glasgow city centre isn't as bad as people assume (infact, I fairly enjoy going there), but venture out into some of the other places like Maryhill and some stereotypes will come into effect.

Generally when I'm in Glasgow my main objective is to get out of Glasgow. Saying that, there are a few nice pubs, Maggie Mays being the main one that springs to mind. There is also places like TGI Fridays etc.

Breaking and slowing it down generally works for me. Although saying that, I've been trying to 'sweep pick' for about 7 months now and still can't do it. I'd never use it, I just like the idea of being able to do it and shut up any over-confident guitarists I may play with in the future.

Rotosound strings are the only ones I've tried that I actually really disliked. I love the sound of brand new, fresh and clanky strings. The rotosounds I bought (I think it was the swing strings? Orange box) lost the nice new sound within 10 hours of playing. Probably the only brand of strings I wouldn't buy.

I really don't care what a band wears when going on stage really. The only gig I've ever been to where I was there to see a show as well as listen to the music was Rammstein. I think too many bands go for image over music which is something I really really detest the idea of.

Basically exactly what Truckstop said. Martinie has been my main inspiration when it comes to playing ever since I started and after a few months of not listening to them, I went back and realized just how much of an inspiration he's been on me. Superb bassist.

When actually thinking about it, I've only saw two of my 'bass heroes' Les Claypool (both dates at Royal Albert Hall this year and Manchester Last year) Arif Mirabdolbaghi. Yes. I googled his second name.

Although not quite to the same level of issues as you've endured. November 2010 My lung collapsed (twice) and I spent the full month in hospital unable to move for the most part. It made me appreciate my family a lot more and I'll be honest, ever since then I've been more willing to try new things and generally been a happier person.

I've never played a free gig (I'm finding it impossible to find a group of reliable people to even get a band together) but I probably would. Even if it was just for promo or experience...or free drinks.
