CURRENTLY ON HOLD Now asking for £160 Hi all, I'm putting up for sale my essentially brand new Epiphone Les Paul Special Bass which I bought from Dawson's in Manchester last month. It is a very sexy bass and I could spend all day staring at it, the tone just isn't quite for me. It is absolutely brilliant, don't get me wrong, but its just a bit too growly and rocky (I can't describe it better than that) for me. I am a huge fan of the tone of my Fender Jazz, preferring my mid-tones to the low bass of this Les Paul. The paint is the very gorgeous trans black, which you will be able to see on one of the close up photos. Its in perfect condition aside from a very small mark on top of the headstock which was there when I bought it, Ive put a picture of it up. Here is the specs: The Epiphone LES PAUL SPECIAL Bass, Transparent Black Finish - Bass players deserve that massive Les Paul sustain too, and can get it with this set-neck Les Paul Special bass from Epiphone. The Epiphone LES PAUL SPECIAL Bass is contructed of a Mahogany body with specially designed Alnico bass Humbucker pickups finished in transparent black with black hardware The Main Features Of Epiphone LES PAUL SPECIAL Bass, Transparent Black Finish Include: * Pickups: 442R Alnico Humbuckers * Hardware: Black * Scale: 34 in. * Nut Width: 1.65 in. * Neck: Set * Neck Material: Mahogany * Fingerboard: Rosewood * Inlays: Dot * Body Material: Mahogany * Controls: Volume, Blend, Tone I am after £170 (now asking for £160) for it as it's essentially new. I bought it for £230, and it has been gigged once for a couple of songs, other than that its mostly been living in its case. Collection only from Stoke-on-Trent or occasionally I am in Manchester, unless you want to arrange and pay for your own delivery, although I don't really have a box..... And finally here are some pictures, feel free to ask any questions: Cheers Tom
Hi Possibly interested in the head. Could you hold off ebay-ing it for a couple of days while I do some negotiating amd work out whether I can fit it into this month's budget? Cheers
Hi, yeah I was going to put it all up on ebay this weekend, do you think you would know by then? If you need a bit more time then just let us know and I will see what I can do, but my wife may kill me if I have it in the house any longer.... Cheers Tom

Hi, I've just been doing the same thing with downsizing, although I can't say I've just come off a big tour..... I tried the Markbass stuff, and as you said whilst its a great small setup it just didn't do it for me. I loved the vintage tone knob, but set flat I didn't like the sound whatsoever and didnt want to rely on always having that knob on full. Anyway I tried the TC Electronic stuff and absolutely loved it and have just purchased a RH450 head and a RS210 cab, it is phenomenal. Its stupidly small but it packs so much, and has such a huge range of sounds. I've just replaced a Warwick Xtreme 5.1 500W head, Ashdown 210 and Warwick 115 cabs, with this stuff and I would never go back. Just the 210 has deafening volume and tone, and unlike the Markbass stuff I think its sounds great just set flat, plus you get all the nice things like the built in tuner, tube emulator, amazing spectrum compressor e.t.c. I definitely think you should see if you can have a play with some of the stuff. Anyway thats just my opinion, good look finding that perfect stuff that works for you! Tom
Hi mate, Im currently saving for a 15" cab. I also live in Manchester (the guy buying your 2X10 is a mate of mine) would you take £100 for it? (all I've saved so far). I'd be running the cab along with a Hartke Hydrive 4x10 through a Hartke LH1000 (effectively splits the amp into 2 x 500w amps), Would the Warwick 115 handle 500watts? I've spoken to a few people, most seem unsure (I think I've read somewhere the cab is 400w max). Cheers, Fostini.
Hiya, The cab does have a max power handling of 400W. Having said that I have used my Warwick 500W head with it, coupled with the Ashdown cab. With both cabs together bringing down the resistance to 4ohms, essentially the amp has been pumping 500W into both cabs. I wouldn't want to say for definite though, and if your unsure its probably best not to risk it, unless someone can say for definite. If you find out anything different or have any other questions feel free to ask cheers

Hi, Sorry if this has been mentioned before elsewhere. I'm about to buy some of the TC stuff, but i've just come across something on the internet about the finish on the cabs. Is there two different types? I know the ones in the shop that ive been looking at are the very rough finish, but I have now seen one on the internet advertised with a smooth finish, is that new? I was a bit unsure at first with the rough finish because it marks so easily, but then if its a smooth finish how well would they stack? Cheers everybody Tom

Just wanted to say a quick cheers to everyone that has replied so far! I've now started having a bit of a look at the TC electronic stuff as well..... Just need to get down to a few music shops and have a play!

Markbass 151hr cab still for sale.looking £450
Dr_Tom replied to bucko's topic in Amps and Cabs For Sale
Hey, Do you still have the 1x15 going? Is it the traveller series? I would be really interested as I am looking into buying a whole Markbass rig myself at the moment including a 1x15 and 2x10. Trouble being is I was relying on part-exing my current 1x15 so i would have to wait to try and sell that.... Well if we start by saying if it is still there or not then I can think about it from there! Cheers Tom -
Hi Guys, This is my first post on here so forgive me if I miss out on any etiquette, I shall try and learn quickly. Basically as the title of the post says I am looking at changing my rig and wanted a bit of advice on what I have been looking at. Firstly I shall tell you what I have now: Bass: Fender Mexican Standard Jazz & Musicman S.U.B Head: Warwick X-treme 5.1 Cabs: Warwick Pro 1x15 and Ashdown MAG 2x10 With the exception of my jazz I have had all this gear for what must be 4 or 5 years now, if not longer. I was previously in a Morrissey tribute band and we did a lot of gigging up and down the country and it was absolutely perfect for what I needed and I love the sound. I left that band about a year and a half ago now, and didn't do much until this september just gone. I am now part of an original band around Stoke-on-Trent and we have been doing a lot of gigs, both local pub and club gigs and then some bigger venues further afield. The problem has come now that I really cannot be bother hauling around all that gear. I have calculated in total that my rig weighs about 74kg and I am knackered before we even start playing, as I am sure many of you will also experience. As such I have just been using my Ashdown 2x10, which is more than enough on its own for pubs and clubs, and then any bigger venues I get DI'd into the PA anyhow. My need now is to upgrade to some of the new lighter neodynium speakers and maybe a digital head. What I have been looking at currently is the Markbass stuff. I had a play on a Markbass F1 head with the Markbass club 2x10 cab and I was really really impressed with the sound, I couldn't really tell much different from my current gear. I'm thinking maybe either the Markbass F1 or F500, with either the Traveller 2x10 and 1x15 cabs or the Club 2x10 and 1x15 cabs. Either combination comes to 34kg! I can carry all that in one go it would be bliss. Just wondering if anyone thinks this is a decent change of gear or I would be stupid to change from what I have now to the stuff I said above? Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated, trouble is, as always, money. Its looking like I would have to start by part-exing in my 1x15 cab for one of the new cabs and leave my 2x10 just in case we do a big venue, then change the other cab and finally change the head. Sorry for going on for a bit! Cheers in advance Tom
