1. Cool bass, congrats. Amazing there's no neck dive, with that shape. Well done Peavey.
2.
Yes, it is a shame. I was hoping to take a trip at some point early next year as I'm fairly (ish) local.
I expect GBBL will still be running, early next year. I think Drew has given it 18 months or so, to sort things out. What a shame though, Great shop, great bloke.
3. I had a go on this beauty and it really is something very different. A real Diva.
4. This EBMM can be a baritone or bass. 30" scale. Very cool with some effects.
5.
Always..?
Point taken. They became a cabaret band really. I do like there early 60s hits though. Far more than Cliff's.
6. Back in the old days, we'd have called this music, Middle of the Road. Easy listening with a curled lip. If you like it, great. The Shads were always better without him.
7. I started out, in the mid-70s. Did my first gig at 13. I had a home made 30 watt, valve amp head, care of the guitarist's much older brother. With a 2X12 cab, with Goodmans speakers in it. It was quite a loud set-up but tended to buzz and rattle, on hitting certain notes. I now use a Galien-Krueger head, with a Mark bass 2X10. Great volume, tone and penetration. Much lighter than any previous gear and no buzzes and rattles.
8. "A bedlam of adolescent noise". Sounds like a great name, for an album.
9. 30th Anniversary. Straight into my number one spot.
10. What about one of these: https://www.andertons.co.uk/p/0301082517/electric-basses/squier-mikey-way-mustang-bass-rosewood-fretboard-large-flake-silver-sparkle Otr there's a Rascal in basses for sale.
11. Very nice Warwick. Congrats. What are the characteristics of those strings?
12. For me it's got to be Chris Squire, particularly on Close To The Edge. Driving, counter-melodic, with a wonderful tone and just plain brilliant.
13. I've played/owned old and new Sandbergs and if anything the newer ones are even better. And I definitely prefer the new body design. The new models are light and the most playable of basses.
14. Love Sandbergs. Great value. That 48 model though, does seem a lot more expensive than in other places.
15. Small volime adjustments on your bass can give the pickups, slightly different characteristics. Much depends on the input into your amp's pre-amp. I always have the volume(s) at full and am more likely to adjust the pan knob.
16. I quite enjoyed his folk and early music phase. Impressive beard. On Later, the other week, he seemed to have returned to Police type material. He's a real talent, no doubt.
17. Looks a lovely bass. Are those Nordstrand Big Singles, on it? If so, I bet they sound awesome. Congratas.

Cool looking bass. Can't figure why they'd put a weedy bridge pickup, on a quality bass like this. From what you say, it sounds like a minor truss rod tweak is needed. Congrats.
19. I popped down to the Great British Bass Lounge, this morning, to see Drew and check out some Sandbergs. I've known Drew for some years now and have got some excellent gear, from the GBBL, including 3 Sandbergs. One of which, I still have, a California II VT4. I've been fortunate enough to own many top basses, over the years, including Rickenbacker, Wal, Fender, Gibson, MusicMan, Overwater, Goodfellow, Warwick, Gordon-Smith and Yamaha. But I have to say that Sandbergs just seem to suit my playing and taste, the best. I tried out 3, California II Models. A brownburst TM4, with a maple fingerboard, which looked grand and sounded even grander. I'm not keen on black, block markers, on maple but the neck was very nice to play. The single-coil and humbucker set up, worked really well, too. Great finishing. Next came a blackburst VM2. 2 humbuckers, with a coil switch, worked very well in creating some very tasty bass tones. A nice, overall satin finish and a neck that felt almost identical to my VT4, made this very tempting. But the bass I'd mainly gone to see, was the 30th Anniversary California II VM4. What a looker! All black body, with matching headstock and chrome hardware. The big, chrome humbuckers, with chrome pole-pieces, look amazing. They kind of remind me of a MusicMan. And not surprisingly, the tone is reminiscent of a double humbucker Stingray. With the ability to switch the neck pickup to single-coil, a passive/active push/pull option and the quality, active electronics, this 30th Anniv, model has a lot of scope, tonally. Overall the tone is clear and powerful. Strong but not muddy or boomy. The bass is very dynamic and sensitive to your playing. Which I would say is a characteristic of Sandberg basses. The neck is super playable. Even faster feeling that my VT4, which I thought, just couldn't be beaten. They've curved off the edge of the fingerboard, just perfectly. Playing nirvana, for this bassist. The 12th fret has a scrolled "30", inlayed. Drew tells me, this is only 4-string, 30th Anniv model made, thus far. Although some more are planned. Now it's home and through my gear, I'm even happier. Got to get this to the next band practice.
20. Very nice family photo. The Status fiver really floats my boat. GLWyourSs.
21. Why does it have a scratchplate, that's been shaped for a bridge pickup? Kinda cool though.
22. That's a nice looking bass. Good luck finding a bag/case.
23. I remember going up to London, aged around 15 and saw a white, with black edging, Rickenbacker 4001. I'd never felt that ache to have it, before or since. It was so out of reach, financially. Got one, 4 years later. It was all I'd wanted. Great bass.
