1. Nothing Rhymed never fails to make me think of my late Dad. That whole album is great.
2. Saw They Might Be Giants recently at the Brudenell. Lots of fun and they were great musicians. I wasn't familiar with much of their material but enjoyed it nonetheless. Next up, That f***ing Tank with Esper Scout in support.
3. Its interesting reading Mike Watt's various tour blogs (see here, scroll down to the tour diaries) - as Gareth says ,when in Europe he's often very much at the mercy of what's been hired for a tour...even when touring the Stooges.
4. I've certainly sold a couple of things to people who have posted wanted ads. My own wanted ads haven't been successful though.
5. Bump. Would consider trade for/towards a Precision body too.
6. They Might Be Giants, tonight at the Brudenell. I know nothing about them really, apart from the Birdhouse single, but have been listening to their stuff over the last couple of days. There's some really nice bass playing. Looking forward to it.
7. Looks like a Gen 2 Big Baby.
8. I believe there's a bass bash in/near the Toon this very weekend. Details here.
9. The Gallien Krueger MB Fusion can do what you want. It's a lightweight Class D with 3 valves in the preamp, 4 band EQ and 400 W into 4 ohms.
10. Bump. I would consider trades for a Reverb pedal or analog delay.
11. I play similar music with a GK Fusion 550 into a TKS S212 cab. Sometimes via a DHA VT1 drive. Its plenty loud enough, warm, and looks great. I previously had Barefaced cabs which were just as nice.
12.
I listen to both but it takes really bad lyrics to ruin a good tune for me whilst really good lyrics won't make me enjoy to a tune I don't like.
Exactly.
13. TKS are worth a look.
14.
Discovering and listening to bands has never been easier than with Deezer,Spotify, Youtube ect
This. I use Spotify and have actively been investigating bands from my own personal 'blind spot' recently. Led Zeppelin - listened. Hated them. Television - Loved them. The 5 Royales - awesome. Yuck - not sure yet. And that's just the last couple of weeks. There's so much out there, and it is very easy and worthwhile, imo, searching out and investigating bands that other people like. Some will become favourites, and others you'll know not to bother with again.
15. Did my first proper gig with my new TKS S212 last night. The sound was just right - warm, clear, punchy. I've also changed amps (GK MB Fusion to Fusion 550) so I can't ascribe the change to one thing or the other yet, but I'm very happy with the result.
16. Hi, I am selling my 3-unit rackmount flightcase by Flightcase Warehouse. As far as I can tell it is this one, with the short (30cm) internal body. Ideal for Class D heads etc. Collection from Harrogate preferred, or I can deliver to Leeds or York. Otherwise courier will be extra. Now £40 plus delivery Cheers, Martin. 17. Plus one for the Gallien Krueger amps. I have an MB 200 and an MB Fusion (500) and they're both awesome - loud and fantastic tone.
18. Sounds interesting, shame there's not a Leeds gig.
19. Now then, My little blues/soul combo will be playing at the Cross Keys in Knaresborough this Saturday night from around 9pm. First proper outing for my new GK Fusion 550 and TFS S212 rig - can't wait! Say hello if you happen to pop in. Cheers, Martin
