1.
The Beatles win hands down on this. From the early stuff like This Boy and Here There and Everywhere to the later stuff like Because and You never Give me your Money, the harmonies send a shiver down the spine.
+1 I think the close harmonies on their version of You Really Got A Hold On Me are stunning. I was never a fan of the Who though.
2. Bump. Great cab with zero handle or feet issues! And a great sound.
3. I go to a lot of gigs to see bands I've never heard before, usually at the recommendation of a friend. More often than not I'm pleasantly surprised by what I see. This year we went to see Mike Watt's Cuz who were very good, but the support, Bilge Pump, were fantastic. Particularly the drummer who was right up there. This year I've also been blown away by Deerhoof, again having never heard them before. The drummer (again) is phenomenal. Probably the best gig by a band I knew nothing about was The Low Anthem - totally different to anything I usually see but I became a firm fan and saw them 3 or 4 times after that.
4. My remaining G2 Barefaced Compact is now for sale. It is in excellent condition as you can hopefully see from the photos. Gigged many times and never let me down, fantastic tone and power. Comes with its Roqsolid cover. For those not familiar with these, they have a single 15" speaker, no tweeter, two Speakons, and are very light (12Kg). Details on the Barefaced website. No trades pleased - I've already bought a new cab (TKS S212). Postage extra (I expect around £12 couriered in the UK), and I would be happy to deliver within 20 miles or so of Harrogate, or further for a share of the petrol. Collection fine too (from Harrogate). Any questions, please post on here or PM. 5. I bought a Thomann case from Adam - nice easy deal, and the case was in great nick as described. One of the good guys.
6.
A Fusion 550! You don't see many of those about. How is it working out for you?
I love the Fusion 550. I've only had it a couple of weeks but the tone is fantastic through my Barefaced Compact and my new TKS. It's not without issues - the footswitch is not working correctly, and the power switch is jammed on, but the tone really is exceptional. I've used the TKS for one rehearsal - first impressions - it's beautifully made, sounds great and is very powerful. But after getting used to the easy one-handed lift of the Compact, I'm finding it a bit cumbersome/heavy. Guess I just need to man up!
7. I'll take it, and can arrange collection. I'll pm you later if that's ok.
8. And old and new rigs, side by side...
9. Mine has just arrived...not posted photos for a while so let's hope this works... S212 without tweeter with Oxblood cloth.

11. How do the Gator shallow cases compare with the Boschma ones?
12.
I'd have gone to see both bands "back in the day" had they been playing anywhere near where I was living at the time. However neither band has made any records I'd want to own since the early 80s.
I was lucky enough to see Simple Minds 2 nights in a row the week New Gold Dream was released, at a pretty small club in Auckland. They were awesome. Not sure I'd bother now. The Stranglers have never appealed to me.
13.
!!!!!!!!! More information needed
It was at the Kilburn National back in the late 80s/early 90s. The whole place was shaking when EN played - and it's not the most stable building (no pun intended). As far as I recall the crowd seemed to enjoy the support. No idea if it was a deliberate post-modernist ironic booking or just a nightmare for some poor promoter.
14. I once saw Teutonic noise merchants Einstürzende Neubauten supported by Showaddywaddy. Simple Minds with The Stranglers seems perfectly sensible!
15. Radkey, tonight in Leeds. Never even heard them.
16. Usually drummers, but not in Dinosaur Jr! A couple of people have mentioned Low - they decided to play quieter to stop people from talking, and it worked. The Low Anthem are similar - they can play a large room at whisper volume and keep the whole audience engaged.
