1. I thought the WF55 only had a volume know...have you modified it to add the tone control?
2. 14/15. The social media icons covered the last chord in the cadence - didn't notice it!
3. Forgiven. I have 3 kids currently in the throws of exam fever - I recognise the symptoms.
4.
Please don't tell me you're thinking of going techno-babble with how that's an incorrect configuration. If so, then I'm not all ears. That's 2.66666667 (or so) of a load which my RH750 and RH450 can handle. Sounds spot on to me.
Ha ha no technobabble - I'm not qualified. I have 2 x 8ohm Compacts and the set-up you describe sounds worth investigating. I'm not particularly looking to change anything but you know how GAS gets hold of you...
5. Just out of interest, are you running (your perfect sound set, that is) a 4 ohm Retro 210 with an 8 ohm Compact?
6. That mounting system looks great. Who is the UK retailer?
7. Steve Gibson, mentioned above, drums in my band and is worth getting in touch with.
8. Excellent first gig for our new drummer last night in Harrogate. Tonight we're at Puzzle Hall Inn in Sowerby Bridge. Come along and say hello.
9.
They were all just one chap, Mr. JG Thirlwell. Bloody used to love his stuff me.
Their/his 12" single of Ramrod is an absolute classic.
10. "How Come U Don't Call Me Anymore" was the B-side of something from 1999. Absolute classic IMO.
11. Now then. My little blues/soul combo is playing at the rather wonderful Blues Bar in Harrogate next Friday, 8th May. Come along, wallow in some Barefaced bass bluesiness, and say hello. Martin
12. I went from a 700 15 combo to an MB Fusion with Barefaced Compacts - fantastic sound and, as you say, the amp sounds very similar, just as powerful, and is so much more convenient.
13. I have a friend who is an opera singer who does around 3 hours vocal warm-up before a performance.
14. Good luck with this, although it is a long shot. I had my first Rickenbacker guitar stolen many years ago and have sometimes wondered if it would be possible to track it down. Like the OP it was financed by my Mum, now passed away. The thing with this one is that there was some suspicion at the time as to who stole it ( a singer in a NZ touring band), the police investigated it to no avail, and then (I understand) he confessed to it many years later in an interview. It would be interesting to try and trace it, but wouldn't expect to get it back if it been sold to someone else in good faith.
15. Yes, it's right up there (if that's the right term) with Billy Holiday's "Strange Fruit" for serious, serious issues in music.
16. I was recently asked to "socialise" an idea for a project.

GK Warmth

I'd be amazed if you can't get a warm sound out of your set up as it is. Turn the tweeter off if you have one, play with your fingers, and make use of that fantastic eq. What strings do you use?
18. I didn't gig for years due to family and work commitments. Since I started playing again, in my 40s, I've been very lucky with the bands I've been in. The current band is a really excellent, easy-going bunch of guys with a great attitude to making music...no pressure or bullshit, plenty of give and take re song choices, gigs etc. I enjoy gigging now more than I ever did when I was younger. Blue's audition checklist above is spot on - I especially recommend going to one of the band's gigs before committing.
19. I built their PP18 kit last year. I was a first time builder and found it all very easy, and the amp is fantastic. Thoroughly recommended. It's a shame they don't do a bass amp. I'm thinking of doing another, probably the little 5 watt one.
20. I'm 51. In the last 10 days I've been to gigs by Esper Scout, The Cribs (supported by Menace Beach), Krill (supported by Cowtown) and Deerhoof, as well as playing my own gig. There's plenty of good new stuff (newer than 60s/70s) out there. And it's never been easier to access it - Spotify, Youtube, Radio 6 and internet radio stations. And where I am (Leeds) there's some first class gig venues. I'm lucky enough to have kids who are into music and recommend new bands to try, as well as some friends who are always looking for something new. Having said all that, I play in an old man's band - blues and soul covers. I love it, but would love to do something more contemporary, but no-one wants an old git in their band.
21. Peter Hook decided to form a band with his mates after they had seen the Sex Pistols and some other bands, and the film 'That'll Be The Day' starring David Essex. Bernard already had a guitar so Peter decided to play bass. He describes buying his first bass in his autobiography, Unknown Pleasures. "Can I have one of those, please" he says to the guy behind the counter. "Well, what sort do you want, son" asks the guy. "A bass one" replied Peter. The guy says "Well, how about this one?". Peter says "Is that a bass guitar?". "Yeah". "That'll do". Everyone's got to start somewhere, and I'd say that a mutual love of a particular style of music is as good a place as any to start.
22. I wonder if Bill Wyman would recognise himself on that chart?!
23. Great band. I love George Porter Jr's playing with Snooks Eaglin too.
