1. Playing a home town gig tonight at the Blues Bar. Fine blues and soul from 9:15.
2. I've got a vintage MXR Stereo Chorus, about 1980 or even late 70s. It'd Ac powered only. Any interest in a trade?
3. I've got one that I use for some rehearsals, but my main amp (like Discreet) is an MB Fusion. I've often thought the perfect rig would be 2 MB200s with my 2 Compacts - plenty of volume for gigging, and maximum backup (both amp and cabs backed up).
4.
I want less players inspired by Kim Deal and her ilk, not more.
Actually what you really want is fewer players inspired by Kim... Sorry if that's construed as bickering. I see it as education. Having read all this I'd hate to think what Dingus thinks of the player I nominated in an earlier post - she makes KD sound like Jaco.
5.
I find 'Higher & Higher' tedious...particularly as i was requested to put in less fills ...'Hit the Road Jack' is a bit ploddy too, great tune though.
I don't mind the bass part for 'Higher and Higher' but I find it impossible to play that and do the backing vocals - the mixture of rhythms is too complex for my little brain.
6. Ko Melina from The Dirtbombs. Strictly speaking she's a baritone guitar player these days, but I first saw her playing a short-scale bass and she still plays the same lines.
7. [sub]I used to use a Shadow bridge pickup many years ago - looks like they still make them http://www.thomann.de/gb/shadow_violin_pickups.html[/sub]
8. Well there's a couple of venues that we play where the bar pays a fee and then put the bucket round the audience to contribute so I guess that counts as a sort of tip.
9. I've got mine wired up: MB Fusion Tuner out > Tuner In (back). Therefore the tuner mute isn't effective. I'll use the mute button on the amp when i want to tune. But that way I can put the tuner in standby and only switch it on when I want to tune up. It won't affect the signal because of the way I'm using it. Not ideal because I have to press 2 buttons to tune up (one to mute the amp, and then to switch the tuner on). It would be better if the MB Fusion had a mute footswitch, but I really don't think it's too much hasle. The alternative would have been to plug my bass into the tuner and the output (from the tuner) into the amp at the front. Then the tuner mute would be effective. But it wouldn't have been as neat. And I don't know whether the signal continues to the amp if you put the tuner in standyby - I'll check next time I'm using it. I also havent investigated whether I can plug the output from the tuner into the amp at the back - I don't think so, but any advice gratefully received.
10. My 70s SF Fender Vibrolux Reverb does it very well. I can't imagine a Blues Jr getting close.
11. Korg ProPitch tuner.

Pere Ubu in November

I saw them at Fibbers in York last year - my favourite gig of the year by far. Michelle plays a lovely G&L Asat and the whole band are really interesting. Going to the Brudenell gig in November. Thoroughly recommended.
13. Otley's been all about the Tour de France this weekend, but next Tuesday (8th July 2014) it's all about Motor City Blue at the Junction. Playing from 9pm. It's landlord Tony's birthday so sure to be a lively night. Pop in and say hello if you're out and about in Yorkshire.
14. Yes I'll take. Just heading out bit will PM you later.
15. Interested in a Marshall EH1 Echohead Delay? Like this http://www.gak.co.uk/en/marshall-the-echohead-eh-1/4328?gclid=CJS16aWKqb8CFWjmwgodtgoAxQ
16. Haven't seen much, and most of what I have managed to see has been pretty bland. Favourites for me so far have been Parquet Courts, and Jack White doing Icky Thump. De La Soul also pretty good.
17. Very sad. What a voice.
18. I ditto what discreet says. I play mine through 2x Compacts and it does a great range of sounds at all the volume I will ever need. I've never tried the non-Fusion version so can't help answer your question though.
19. My little blues/soul combo is braving the heat and football crowds at the Duck and Drake in Leeds tonight from 9pm. Come along for some Fender + GK + Barefaced driven fun.
20. Can I just congratulate everyone on the maturity and sensitivity of their contributions to this thread - pretty unique to this forum, I'd say. To the OP, I can understand you needing to get your priorities right (they're not the same as my priorities but that's irrelevant) and I understand your need to take a fairly stark break from music in order to put things into perspective - its probably the only approach that will work. I'm glad you're keeping the door open to coming back to music if and when it feels right, and wish you luck in getting though this.
21. I'm interested too if above falls through. Where are you based?
22. Looking forward to Friday bump for a f**king great board!
23. Voted. Well done everyone. I wanted to join in this month, had a good idea which I developed but just don't have the time or wherewithal to get it recorded. Hats off to those that manage it.
24. Never broke a bass string or had a bass fail. I don't take a spare bass or even a spare lead (which is less forgivable) . I do take a spare battery and occasionally amp (MB200, so hardly a burden - never had to use it though).
25. I'd be interested in this. Would you rehearse in Leeds or Wakey? I'm at a conference at the moment but will PM you in a couple of days.
