1. The Only Ones - Another Girl Another Planet is always fun.
2. Jeff Prystowsky from the Low Anthem.
3. DHA did recommend a particular one in another thread recently. I bought one and it made a great difference to my Compressor. I'll try to find the thread. Here it is http://basschat.co.u...ost__p__1521984 This is the power supply: http://www.rapidonli...aspx?kw=85-3112
4. I rarely practice bass on my own. I usually practice/work out parts on a guitar just because its more convenient, and then rehearse with the band on bass.
5.
I know! Ridiculous. And they wonder why they're thought of as Harrogate's poor sibling. Get a train station, Ripon, you pre-Victorian weirdos.
They had one in Victorian times.
6. WITHDRAWN - sold elsewhere. I have for sale a drum kit suitable for beginners. It’s a Chinese Leedy kit with bass drum, snare, one mounted tom, 2 floor toms, high hat, cymbal stand and cymbal. I can deliver within 40 miles or so for petrol money. Its wine red and in good condition. I won't kid you however, this is an awful drum kit. You wouldn't want to gig with it. The cymbals are like tin cans. The only good reason to buy it (which is the same reason I bought it) is if you have a child who wants to learn drums but you're not sure whether they're going to stick with it. My son has decided the guitar is his preferred instrument, so the drums can go. Happy to answer any questions. I don't have a picture at the moment but will endeavour to post one before the weekend. Edit - Picture now added. Please note that the Sabian highhat cymbals are not included (the stock ones are), and there's a second floor tom included but not in the picture. Cheers, Martin
7. There's Jim Fleeting in Ripon - he's a member here as well. http://www.guitarrepairman.co.uk/
8. I've never been a Blur fan (although I have a copy of Tender and I think its a great song), but my whole family thought that their warts and all performance was the highlight of the night (perhaps along with Bruno Mars super-slick performance). When I got home from work yesterday my 13 year old son was sitting playing his guitar having taught himself all the Blur songs they performed (at least on ITV). That's what a proper rock and roll performance can do, even if those of us that know better realise it wasn't a vintage performance.
9. I did it on keyboards many many years ago and loved it.
10. Stricly speaking the minor 2nd is Dflat, not C#. I appreciate that doesn't help asnwer your question...
11. I have a Gallien Kruger 700RB 115 combo that is great for gigging which you could have for £225. You're welcome to come and try it if you're anywhere hear Harrogate.
12. That looks to be in lovely condition. What price are you looking for (I believe you have to state a price)?
13. These look nice (from Stringbusters):
14. If it really was D# major, what would be the relative minor? - B#minor. It makes much more sense to use Eb major and its relative minor, C minor. That's how I I work out how to describe a note or chord. If the relative major or minor wouldn't commonly be used, I start to think I've got it wrong.
15. Thanks for your feedback everyone. I'll certainly check out the other versions of the song.
For example, your use of an E# rather than an F (and your intended use of an F## rather than a G natural) seems to be overcomplicated for the sake of it.
I was trying to be faithful to the key signature, and also have as few accidentals as possible. The run E#, F(sharp), F double sharp, G (sharp) would only need 2 accidentals (the sharps in brackets covered by the key signature). Your suggestion of F natural, F sharp, G natural and G sharp would need 4 accidentals. I'm not sure putting the chord symbols/names helps, because the bass line is just a chromatic run under fairly simple chords in this case. Or am I missing something?
16. I've just joined a blues band so have been busy learning new tunes. I've done a transcription of Albert King's Born Under A Bad Sign - would be grateful for any feedback. I used Noteflight (an excellent free online tool) and saved it as a PDF. I'd rather have used a F double sharp than the G natural where it appears, but don't know how to do double sharps using Noteflight. Cheers, Martin
17. There was a similar thread a couple of years ago - http://basschat.co.uk/topic/61275-diy-auralex-gramma-pad-a-like/page__view__findpost__p__605737 I made one and it worked a treat.
18. Florence's version fits your brief. Candi's is much better!
19. Its not quite the same (C# major instead of minor, and double length) but you might be able to do something with You Got The Love - the first 2 chords are the defining feature. Can't think of anything else just now.
