Hi, I am thinking of changing the pickguard on my ATK 800. The stock rosewood one is a little odd so if looks to try something different. What colour pickguard would you change it to? I was thinking tort.

Good to hear... If you'll pardon the pun!
I've got a pair of the aluminium ones, I find them excellent compared to the normal one size fits all Alpine/Er20 etc. I can still hear everything but at a vastly reduced level. Can't say if they compare to custom moulded but for their price I'm very happy. And we play LOUD.
bought 'em. thanks for that

Good product, dodgy bloke by the sound of it. They don't offer any kind of satisfaction guarantee from what I can see, which is unusual for these simple types of "revolutionay" products.

Any thoughts on these wee chappies? https://www.indiegog...-your-ears--4#/ Suitable for band use?

Sam Ash is on the list. Really hoping it does snow... That would be awesome.

I used to have an active Ibanez atk200 that's output was significantly quieter than my passive Ibanez Blazer. After a bit of discussion on here conclusion was its just a low output bass. No way to turn up the on-board eq. Turn up the amp gain.
Love the fact you're going for a visit, but the New York thing has been covered here a ton of times. Do yourself a favour and use the search facility, you will find all the answers you're looking for. Shops, eateries, itineraries, factory tours, things to go up and how to get around.
I did use search and in three pages of results there is nothing about new york mainly because the words 'new' and 'york' bring up a lot of results individually. I wasnt really looking for the normal things as they are covered in all the tourist guides. I was thinking about things off the beaten track that have been off interest to fellow musos.
Never got to go in any music store when i went last year, however for randomly cool music stuff the hard rock cafe in time square is cool, and be sure to checkout some of the bars, i managed to catch one of my favourite bands "You Bred Raptors?" playing in a awesome place called the Manderley Bar, in an old hotel called the Mckittrick hotel which is now used as a setting for a play called speak no more which is based on Macbeth.....didnt see the play but found an awesome little venue!
Will keep that in mind. Only a ten mint taxi ride from our hotel
You could visit the Sadowsky and Fodera factories, I believe in Brooklyn. For acoustic stuff there's the mandolin Brothers on Statten Island.
Great idea, will look into that.

Hi guys, I'm heading to New York for a week next month and wondered if anyone knew of any music stores that were worth making an effort to get to? (or any other lesser known things that are worth finding)

Surely they don't sell many of these in the home market. Anybody savvy enough to use eBay is savvy enough to look around. I know a few guys who sell items on Amazon /ebay who are really aiming them at markets where they are not officially distributed or where the prices are higher anyway. For example, a lot of Lego sets are hard to get in Russia so they buy them here are sale prices, 3for2s etc and sell them to Russians via eBay for two or three times what they cost here.

How many BassChatters have never ever gigged?
gs_triumph replied to thebrig's topic in General Discussion
I have never played a gig. I would love to play a gig ... It's on my bucket list... But the guys I play with for an to have the same desire. We are school friends who have jammed off and on since the nineties but just never got it together enough to play a gig. Life changes and now family commitments get in the way for some. I have confidence it will haplen one day. I mention it enough. But for now we still enjoy just jamming together. -

What's your favourite source of drum beats or backing tracks?
gs_triumph replied to Chewie's topic in General Discussion
We don't currently have a drummer so we use backing tracks from karaoke-version.co.uk if we need s specific song. Lots on there, even some oddities, and they are cheap... £2 each. If the track we need isn't there we've used people on fiverr.com to do a track for us... Costs $5. -
Who pays for rehearsal room if 1 person drops out?
gs_triumph replied to solo4652's topic in General Discussion
I've just jotted down the band's rehearsal history. It's a start-up band, and the full has only met 3 times: Rehearsal 1 - Went ahead without lead singer who was sick. Room costs split between those present. Rehearsal 2 - As rehearsal 1 Rehearsal 3 - As rehearsals 1 and 2 Rehearsal 4 - Cancelled. Guitarist's wife sick. No room costs Rehearsal 5 - Cancelled. Both singers (man and wife) sick. No room costs Rehearsal 6 - Cancelled. Guitarist's wife sick. No room costs At this point, I suggested a short summer break while people recovered from various illnesses, and the guitarist's wife gave birth. Rehearsal 7 - All present! Room costs split evenly Rehearsal 8 - All present, but guitarist and both singers arrived with no money. Room costs split between drummer and myself. Rehearsal 9 - All present. Room costs split between those who didn't pay the previous time. Rehearsal 10 - Due tonight. Cancelled late because guitarist's wife is sick. Guitarist has offered to pay room costs.
Guitarists wife sick sounds a bit like dog ate my homework in that context. I'd be thinking about cutting and running as this is not a very healthy bunch of people to be near 😉 -
What are you listening to right now?
gs_triumph replied to Sarah5string's topic in General Discussion
Nuggets... Love the sixties garage bands. Great songs played adequately 😉
