Got a Dave Hall vt-2 from eBay... Cannae wait

The two-notes looks like overkill for my needs... I'm trying to simplify and it has as many knobs as the B3 🙂 But does look very interesting. Haven't had a chance to check out any videos of the mxr yet. Will hopefully get time tomorrow. EHX Soul Food is sounding good too... Subtle overdrive, like the blend control and a lot cheaper than the CM... Soul food for thought. The Carl Martin is still topping my list.

Yes... Please... Do tell?

I've just looked up that pedal. Reviews seem to indicate it's a more modern sounding overdrive. I'm probably not audiophile enough to notice the difference. How do you find it sounds? I am looking for a punchy warm tubey overdrive just to add a bit of vintage grit. I'll check YouTube for a video later.

Hi, I currently have a zoom b3 but i am going to sell it as i find it difficult to set up to my liking and i spend more time faffing around and less time playing. I would like to keep things simple and am looking for a drive pedal.. And perhaps a compressor. I am looking at the carl martin bass drive tube preamp just to add some grit to my sound. I've watched few videos of the pedal and think i am happy to go with it. Only concern is it doesn't have a DI but i don't need one just now... Thinking futureproofing. Any other i would be daft to not take a serious look at? Dave Hall? EBS? Darkglass?

Seems a bit excessive for home use... But I guess the weight doesn't matter if you're not taking it anywhere. ... Might have a weird with the bank manager (wife)

Thanks lozz, will give that a bash

Hi guys, I am a big fan of ampeg tone. I currently have a ba115hp - the 220w version. I like it but it doesn't quite do the chunky classic ampeg tone. Someone is selling a micro svt head and cab locally at a price I find agreeable. I'd our likely to get me closer to the classic ampg sound?
@oops - Fake festival is usually tribute bands eg "Four Fighters"
Not really any different to the myriad of covers bands to which many of us belong, or have belonged to over the years? Covers band dedicated to one artist or band really

They rattle a little when sat down. Not at all with the weight of the bass on them. I couldn't get cocktail sticks in any of the local ' convenience' stores... Not very convenient!
-
To be fair, I didn't notice the rattle within minutes of getting in to my groove. Are there 'better' strap locks?
-
Match sticks deployed! Is it normal for strap locks to rattle? Quite annoying. Guess I'll get used to it. Cheers guys
I'm not sure of the actual answer to your question but I had this issue when changing strap buttons. I just filled the hole with wood and then screwed in the smaller screw and its rock solid now.
Not keen on bastardising my new bass just yet... Might come to that tho Cheers G.
Just reuse the standard screws ?
They don't fit through the lock buttons
-
I only really wasn't the strap locks as i need to detach the strap to fit the bass in its case. I'm thinking the eyes on the strap will get trashed fairly quickly when being attached and unattached every time I play. Bottle washers won't solve the problem unfortunately 😒

Guys n gals, I have an ibanez atk 800 recently purchased through the forums here. I wanted to put strap locks on it so ordered 'no bull' locks of the bay. However on unscrewing the existing strap button I can see the screws are much thicker than those supplied with the no bull locks. The screws from the bass don't fit through the lock buttons. Does anyone manufacture locks with bigger screws? Cheers

You could buy some silica gel packs from eBay to pop inside the cases. That should help keep moisture at bay.

It was a bit like watching my old man dad dancing whilst trying to sing along with a song he doesn't know. I thought it was awful. And tin tin looked a tad embarrassed to be there. I wouldn't normally slate someone else's performance - due to my own lack of talent - but there's a time a give it a rest.

Likewise, I'm looking for someone in the Edinburgh area. Contacted a few now and they either don't reply or have no suitable time slots.

Design flaws in your favourite basses
Oh, where to start? Any 2-pickup bass with Les Paul wiring. What the hell do you need a selector switch for when you can blend & mute with the volumes? Or: any bass with two volumes rather than a volume & a pan. Or even worse - a 2 pickup bass with a poxy selector switch and only one volume & tone! That's right, Ibanez RS924 - I'm looking at you. Ever wonder why you don't get gigged any more? Aside from weighing about 30 kilos? Which leads neatly to: Any bass that you need a back brace/intensive care after wearing for more than 15 minutes. Bye bye, Peavey T-40, and take your pointless selector switch & stupid fiddly controls with you. Any bass with a bridge that does not offer proper height & intonation adjustment. Double points if that bass costs more than a decent used car and the bridge bends in half within a year. Mr Hall. Any bass with Precision type pickups fitted with the E/A half towards the neck. Sorry Leo, that's the wrong way around if you want a more balanced string response. Any bass with twin coil pickups that do not have phase or single coil switching. Clear off & come back when you have a bit of tonal variety. Any bass with a symmetrical double cut body. You will be staying on the wall, looking pretty rather than having your neck supported by my left arm, because you presumably think it has nothing better to be doing. I'll probably think of a few more, in a bit... Jon.
Feeling better now? 😏 -
