Mrs G loves rock of ages, however I quote:
I can't listen to your band doing "i wanna know what love is" without thinking of them shagging on the pool table any more
I enjoyed it at the cinema, got free tickets and was good toe tapping fun. Also went and saw the west end version with shayne ward? before the cast changeover. That was good, and completely different to the film. Its the same guy who does glee (the musical director of the film)

Might be worth making a map of where people interested in the folly are, so that people can work out who is near? (As well as a map of where it goes?) Just like a google map with a bc usern ame and a city?/town/etc
We play in the West of Scotland and the going rate is pretty much the same as everyone else. 5 piece band 300 quid for a pub gig and functions about £600 cos they are longer nights. An interesting point. When someone moans about your price, just say ok, you hire 5 plumbers for 4 hours on a saturday night and see how much they charge. We will play for half that!
Functions are often not a "longer night" more a whole day. Can easily be there for 12+ hours. I'm also pretty certain you stole that last line off me
-
Generally say £100 per person minimum for functions etc. plus one additional share (ie 5 people, soundman, and one share = £700 minimum realistically) (although we are only about 3 months old with this band) Typically means we range between 600-2000 for functions that we are booking this year as our first year as a band. We do the odd pub gig for £250 (although first gig @ particular venue we'll let them go for £200)
I sympathise, but the other way. I've never been able to get the hang of a pick. No matter what I do, after a few notes it just slips out from between my fingers onto the floor. Mystery!
+1. I can only get through a song on a pick if it is repetitive root notes or similar !
You can trust this man with your life. Or your bass, at least
I'm a bit clumsy, I wouldn't trust me with your life!
However, apart from the aforementioned diners, you will enjoy the freedom of setting up as you like in your own space (the size of a matchbox), without being hassled by sound engineers and musicians from other bands. Have fun!
Unless you have your own sound engineer. Can be very useful in controlling levels, but ideally either a small child, or someone who loves someone in the band (ie cheap) You might want to be strict on makign sure people aren't turnign up etc through the gig too! -
just spending my £25. Itunes voucher, yes always even for band stuff, the odd 99p for a song, its not that bad.
I always end up buying the albums as they are better value per song anyway, and then if I find a song or two that I also like, then quids in!

Originally bought here on BC - (see http://basschat.co.u...13#entry1866313 ) Just didn't tickle my fancy. I had previously had a hartke amp, it broke, and bought this as a replacement a few months later. I just dont like the tone and having buyers regret! (I seem to remember it being different, but memory clearly failed me!) As description says : All in perfect working order only issue are cosmetic and as follows! Volume pot on the Hartke has been replaces so it doesn't match the others. I have a BC precision t shirt:) -
I can fit a ton in my Honda jazz Could almost certainly fit a 4x15 upright if I had one ( have taken a guitarists 4x12 before )as the middle seats told up as well as down ( so you can get a big upright spAce instead of flat space ) Only downside at the moment is that my 35 inch lakland in the big gator case is about 1" too long to fit sideways in the boot ( no issue on back seats or in the soft case )
