2.
I'm Lorry and live just outside of cambs. I've been playing in classic rock covers bands for the last 5 or 6 years. I've been very unsettled since leaving a band last July - The band reformed, but after a year we are still looking for replacement members. Meanwhile, I have been doing some session slots with a couple of bands in the Peterborough/Cambs area, just to keep me busy. I'm starting to get fed up, and feel I need a new project and a fresh start. Ideally I would like a band that is gigging as much as possible! Normally, I play covers, but I dont mind playing originals if the band is right. As well as a bassist, I work as an engineer/techie/projects co-ordinator and carry out tech work/repairs on guitars, amps, pedals, PA etc as a hobby - which would be a benefit to interested bands! I also play abit of guitar, and have a gig-ready guitar rig. I am currently setting up a recording/rehearsal facility locally. Age is not an issue for me, I have worked with people from the ages of 16 to over 50, but preferably you would be over 18 otherwise gigging would be an issue! My equipment list (for bass) is in my signature - I also have my own active monitors, etc. I have my own transport, but don't really want to travel for more than 30mins for rehearsals. I'm interested in Classic Rock, Blues and Punk. I'm really not into metal, anything screamy, and definately not into the cambridge indie scene. My influences are bands like: ACDC Thin Lizzy Led Zeppelin Guns n' Roses/Velvet Revolver Whitesnake Airbourne Aerosmith Bon Jovi Gary Moore Joe Bonamassa Green Day Blink-182 The Ramones The Jam (You get the idea) I'm up for giving most things a go. If you would like a chat, please dont hesitate to send me a PM, and we can talk more. Many thanks for reading this, All the best, Lorry - 'The Rockin' Roadie'
There is very little bass work in cambridge at the moment! I'm lucky to have just got into a second project...
3. Is this still on hold? I'm all over this as I've done my back in with my current setup!
4. Where did you get the pickguard ? I have a natural one and never had a pg on it.
5. (cough i'm going to be a bit of a wierdo here) but the nicest 5'er I played (in a shop mind you) was a High End Ibanez.... SR4005e Prestige (or the 5005, given how much money ou have, but the difference is marginal) ( http://www.ibanez.co.jp/products/eb_page11...p;series_id=469 ) edit : looks like they have stopped making the 4005e, or at least, it is no longer on the UK site.

Yamaha BBs
I've just bought a s/h BB615 for a back up and house noodling bass and I love it to bits. I've not used it with the band yet but it sounds lovely through my Tascam BT. Staggeringly good value - I'm seriously considering blowing some mahoney on a better preamp for it, maybe a new bridge and then it'll be a stonker.
Agree, I have a 615 as my main Work horse at the moment. Bought new though! only downside with the yamaha, i broke the top nut by not filing it enough when i went for a thicker B string. Yamaha said 5 months for a replacement, so had to go get a luthier to make one....
7. On hold, pending payment .
8. Looks like some good recommendations above. If you are after small necks, you might consider an Ibanez too. My first bass was an Ibanez SR (Gio) , really nice thin neck, and very fast.
9. Still looking for a buyer, couple of enquiries but nothing solid.

11.
Welcome to the Forum
Thanks! I love the orange crush (35B ? ) ! my first gigging amp!
12. Just realised I have never introduced myself. Long time lurker, often found drooling over basses in the FS section.... Anyway. Stephen, from cambridge, playing bass 3 years , love doing so. First bass bought for my 21st birthday by my brother, have since gone through about 8 more basses (most ly in the last year) on a quest to find the one. My main rig though : Yamaha BB615 (my workhorse) Zoom B2.1U for a few minor adjustments and I prefer the ease of using a combo, so have a Hartke A100 as my main amp... certainly big enough for everything I do currently! Currently searching for a new workhorse , something mid market (around 500-600 quid to spend) and definately a 5er. Tempted by a 55-01 or a corvette $$, but have also been loving ibanez basses, as they seem to suit me really well!
13. Oops, double posted....
14. Another +1 for soundcloud, its great for us! Linking it facebook is really good too
15. bump to p1
16. I personally prefer GP5 over 6, as GP5 allows me to change between 4/5 string tunings a lot easier!
17. EDIT: I think the poster above me is more likely correct....
Is it a Hofner, maybe? I have one of those Fedner basses.
Here is a picture of the hohner fretless in black that I have, I'm guessing it is similar. Hohner are a German company.... ( http://www.hohnerusa.com/index.php?1521 , the website sucks donkeys) I AM NOT THE SELLER AND THIS IS NOT THE BASS FOR SALE, I AM MERELY TRYING TO HELP OTHER PEOPLE OUT! (lowered in quality for the sanity of uploading 5meg picture...)
18. I have a black Fretless Hohner B-Bass, which I think is what he means, nice warm tone, and me likey.
19. <SOLD> Hi chaps. I have a Hohner B2A DB that i'm looking to offload in order to make space for an Ibby 5'er 34" scale / 24 Frets Dual Humbuckers + Pre-amp on board - Has a really nice warm tone. Also has the Steinburger Licensed "D-Tuner" on the bridge, to allow drop D at a flick of a lever. Almost pristine condition (has been barely played since I've had it....), and comes with a Warwick Gigbag I'm looking for £270 for it , but will consider offers. Is based in Cambridge currently (free local collect etc, buyer to pay postage / however sent) pix attached!.
