1. Ah man, that totally sucks!
2. Gig from a little while ago It was a good night
3. I love Tal, and people who say she doesn't deserve her reputation have never heard her really play! Great arrangement too
4. Did someone say...StatusRay? Untitled by killerfridge, on Flickr Not helpful, I'm sure, but I always need an excuse
5. Tower of Power - So I got to Groove Favourite bassline ever
6. A couple based around my recent purchases "What the hell is a 'Shadow Sky'(Sadowsky), can't you afford a Fender? The Squiers are quite good" "I want to get a Musicman Stingray, not a cheap knockoff like that guy" (Points at my SRay with Status Graphite neck ) And from a compulsive liar who I knew when I was younger "Yeah, "Squier" is my old stage name, and Fender did a limited edition run for me" (Not kidding, and refused to be called a stupid lying git!)
7. Great video, thanks for sharing
8.
Possibly. Also just fed up of First World Problems.
9.
Pah! I can top that. 2nd September, playing the George IV in Chiswick, at the end of the first set a punter (who had been watching me pretty carefully) came over and pointed at my Alleva Coppolo KBP5. "Hey mate, is that a Peavey?"
Ah yes, but that was a punter. This was a (pretty good) bass player!
10.
Usually drummer again, "the bass player in my other band has a Fender USA" with a look as if I'm meant to be in awe of him just for knowing a friend of said Fender owner, maybe if I sold all 3 Rays I could put a bit more and pick up a second hand Mex
That reminds me of something I heard very recently "Sadowsky? What, can't you afford a real Fender?"
11. It's too late, the decision was made... http://basschat.co.uk/topic/156906-nbd/
12. "What's that string called again?" "I've just written a great new song" *Plays power chords of A, F, C, G* "Whadya think?"* *Note: all our songs go A F C G. At least all the songs written by this certain person. Doesn't even think of changing the key.
13. Single humbucker? Wrong number of strings?
14.
Perfect.
You're telling me! Cheers for the kind words guys
15. Right. I did it. I took the plunge. It's a Sadowsky Metro MV4. And it's bloody gorgeous. Both visually, and audibly! It's also much lighter than any of my other basses, so, that's a plus. Bought from GG in Epsom today, and I almost got a crazy good deal. Was waiting to pay, whilst they got the bass from out back. They say "Do you want to check it over before you go" and I obviously agree. The had got the Will Lee model out by mistake! If I hadn't checked, I could have walked out with something costing £500 more! Nevermind, I got what I wanted, and it is sublime. Simply wonderful. I will post videos later. Oh, and thank you to everyone who help chose the colour scheme - you were all correct!
16. Hi guys, After many months of searching, I think I have found an instrument that I am in love with - The Sadowsky Metroline basses. The problem that has reared its ugly head is this - what colour to get?! I am torn between these 3 combinations: Rosewood and Olympic White (with tort' pickguard) Maple and Olympic White (with tort' pickguard) Maple and Ash (with black or tort' pickguard) So what are your opinions? Cheers guys.
17. And if not the Gallery, check out the Bass Merchant in Essex (kinda)
18. My personal favourite pre-amps are the John East U-Retros. Check them out here.
19. I'm going to give this a free bump, because I can't believe that it is still here! Such a lovely instrument. I'm struggling to find reasons not to put an offer in myself
20. Beautiful instrument, in one of the best colour configurations. If it was a 5 string, it would be in my hands right now, and you would be £700 richer. Ah well, we can dream.
21. Gaslighting Abbie is a fantastic tune - something we have to perform at college, and in my function band. I love Steely Dan.
22.
Being through something like that myself, my advice - you must get a good teacher: he'll give the right stuff for you to improve, and he'll help you to get through hard times like this. There are a few guys on BC that are really worth attention - Joe Hubbard (I'm his student, and Joe is the real deal, when it comes to music tuition, but you have to be ready to work really hard everyday), Scott Devine, Jakesbass (Jake Newman).. Don't know where you're from but it doesnt matter because you can hook up with those guys via Skype video (I'm getting my lessons like this, and it's totally fine..) let us know how you get on, easy Laimis
I agree with this. Joe is a tutor at the ACM, and he is phenomenal. Another couple of fantastic tutors are Mike Nichols (also on here) and Phil Mulford (great if you can get him!).
23. Very good list - I use many of them myself!
24. Right I think I should put this here: Say hello to my Jon Shuker Jazz 5 Video first - slight volume problem, but I can't be bothered to deal with it until later. Spanish Joint by D'Angelo - I know that the timing is iffy at the start, due to my inability to lock into the rhythm! There is also some dodgy soloing around 4mins in. Don't judge me, I can't solo :haha: Photo on 13-09-2011 at 14.32 by killerfridge, on Flickr Photo on 13-09-2011 at 14.32 #3 by killerfridge, on Flickr Photo on 13-09-2011 at 14.32 #4 by killerfridge, on Flickr
