mine has to be so far my first and only gig newly formed band at school we were chosen to play our set for part of the crimbo disco.. it was fantastic me on bass and lead vocals just seeing my younger brother up on stage playing lead guitar his lil teenage face grinning back at me he seemed on top of the world and my mates all singing along and laughing dancing and smiling up at me. i was on top of the world......... absolutely fantastic we only played bout half an hour then some sweaty DJ came on but i tell u it was the best half an hour of my life....... i had the biggest grin on my face in the world and i culdn't of been pruder of my brother he played his lil heart out

There were two songs bass lines that made me pick it up..... they were Alien Ant Farms - Movies - simply because it's really prominant in the song and queens - invisible man - John deacon is a legend and in this song the bass line is all i can here because it's so quick and in your face but the first full on bass line i learnt was green days - Holiday just love this song it's just pure punk with a fantastic bass solo

Hey there well i've been playing bass since well bout july... and i've got most of the techniques i think i need, i have warm ups and warm downs.... i know about 10 songs but to be honest their getting a bit old now and i was wondering if u folks could give me any ideas of new techniques or new songs to learn... i currently know finger style, picking, and a bit of pull and slap.. song wise i play rock but i am open to suggestions of jazz and perhaps some R n B i'm looking to extend my current ten song long set to about 15 or 17 just to give more variety. write back please with ur opinions.

i suffered a bit of fore arm cramp and pain when i first started fast picking i found that i had the bass too low and it was straining my wrist and fore arm i simply raised the bass a bit and it went away so perhaps consider the position of the bass or your posture. might help with ur back and neck too...
-
Thats pretty crap really, especially if u have that much money to spend... and no hard case?!?
-
i knew he wasn't in anything bryan or roger are doing though it would be nice to know he's still playing. i'm sure he must pick it up every now and then...

OMG!! you'll never guess what i found this afternoon! i found the perfect guitar shop in the world! there was a substantial bass section! Amps and bass's ready to be taken down and played on! friendly staff! a bass expert in store to answer any questions! also he is a builder of basses and guitars! one slight problem it's in Ripon in Yorkshire and all the bass's were made by Vintage which means it won't cost you an arm and a leg to purchase one. the most expensive was bout 200 quid. and my god the sound that came out of them all that i tried and played with for a good hour and a half was amazing. i was literally in heaven... highly recommend you look for ripon city music shop if you're ever near the cathedral take a wander! Phew! back to kerrang!

Surely Mr. John Deacon is still going some where! where ever he is???
-
i actually bought my first bass from cash converters! (only £70 it's the one in my avatar) the guys in there knew more and gave me better advice and knew alot more than the people in the music shop just next door. because i'm a teenager the guys in the music shop didn't even look at me and they had the smallest bass section i've ever seen. there were 4 over priced basses hanging on the one little section of the wall. the way people in shops stereotype teens is outragous... thats my lil rant... now back to skool...
-
What the hell is that thing!"!!!!!!!! I've never seen something so disgusting!?!

heya i'm 16 and i've been playing for about 6-7 months and i aint very musically wise or smart i know what company made my bass but i don't know what type it is or anything , i've focused more on learning music and how to play... here's a few pics of my bass which i used for my GCSE Photography exam unfortunatly i have none of me in action... all i know is it's a 4-string, session pro, sunburst paint job...
-
i sing lead vocals and play in my band at school it took me a while to master but i can now sing 4-5 songs perfectly in harmony and barely have to concentrate on my playing because of my muscle memory i've played the songs that many times also listening to hear if you can hit the right notes with out looking at the board helped me then bring in the singing... give it a try...
-
i personally started on a 4 because at the time due to conditions i couldn't effect that was all i could have... but because of the music i play and the way i play and the band i am in it doesn't limit me to 4 strings (i am infact looking into 5 strings) but because i learnt on 4 strings 4 strings is comfortable for me but i want to expand... i won't comment on "ERB" players because i have no experience of them... if however in the future i actually do witness a bass player with more than 6 strings well only time can tell...
