Pre owned would be the most value Sifi2112 was selling an Eden N8 with a 10" Eminence speaker, he might still have that. Or if your budget goes as far as £170 someone is selling an EBS 60w combo at the minute Have you thought about a used small Trace or Ashdown combo, they seem to be good value Good luck Harry

If it's a Stingray-type tone you are trying to get ( depending of course on what bass you are using ) try a PM to Tommo on these pages. He's done some excellent pre-amps based on early Sabre and Stingrays and did put one in a stomp box

Alas I don't have a Classic 5 Chris, I have my home built fretless Blingray which has a 3 band MM pre from a SR5 and a Duncan SMB4a pickup I know what you mean about the tone, but it's nice on a fretless I got one of Tommo's 2 band Sabre pre's to go into a build and out of curiosity wired it up to the Blingray It definitely sounded crisper, very impressive, so I'm shoving another one into a 5 string build with a Delano MM pickup on the sweet spot for a homemade Classic 5-ish ! There are some Classic 5 clips on YouTube, worth a look, I think they sound lush but I'm biased! Good luck with your dilemma, and yes, we've all been there! Harry

There's a coincidence, I'm doing a build with a Wenge neck and fingerboard It seems from what I can glean, that once you'repast the splintering and horrible dust phase, Wenge is quite forgiving in that it doesn't require a finish. Put one on if you like but it isn't essential, as it would be on, say maple for example I think Warwick did some sort of aftercare kit for Wenge fingerboards but I've read mixed opinions on it's merits I plan on leaving the neck and fingerboard bare on mine, either wire woolled with 0000 or 1500 paper, and varnishing the headstock and Wenge top set ( because the body wood is fairly soft ) As far as I'm aware Warmoth sell Wenge necks without their usual stern recommendation to apply a suitable finish so it's obviously quite oily and very robust Good luck with your spraying, can't wait to see that spalted masterpiece put together Regards Harry

Some are a direct swap and some are not I'm sure Toyota will have a drill lying around somewhere!
