1. I don't mean to hijack the thread at all but where abouts in Canada are you based Sheldon? I've a few trips over planned next year! P.S, I'm aware its a kinda big place, worth asking
2. If your interested in a nice Jazz for trade let me know...
3.
I have a Sadowsky Outboard preamp that has a DI. I used the Sadowsky when i was playing passive basses but the main bass is a Stingray these days so i don't really take the Sadowsky out. Should i use that in some configuration?
The Sadowsky should more than do the trick and will probably give a slightly better signal to the desk than the LMII DI. Having said that however, I've owned a LMII and the DI was fine for any desk I played it through. They are very popular amps and I've never heard of such a problem so it might be worth getting it looked at. I cant even give you a ballpark as to how much that would be though Have a look round for a techie in your area and give them a ring would be the best bet IMO.
4. Bassassasin will be along shortly I think...! Personally I wouldnt go anywhere near any of the new faker models, but I'd be keeping my eye out for some old JapCrap Ibanez or similar
5. oh wow, thats pretty much exactly what my perfect amp would look like. Simple yet effective semi-parametric EQ, good quility drive section. Dead simple, small, enough power. Eugh...
6.
This is gorgeous! I've toyed with the idea of getting a rail to accompany my toaster. Sadly no funds ATM T-40s are literally amazing by the way.
After our chat the other day this really isn't what I needed to see right now!!
7.
I can't fault the way my Spector plays, or the way it feels strapped on. The only thing I lust for occasionally is a change in tone, so sometimes I find myself longingly looking at Streamer Stage IIs and Bongos on ebay. But, the financial outlay is, for me, just too great in times like these. I could afford to buy a used Bongo or Streamer now, but I think that money would be better kept in savings for a rainy day.
Although earlier on I was talking about loving my setup at the moment. I really hope that eventually I get into that mentality... I know for a fact that if I fell into some cash right now it would probably go on basses...!
8. Boredom leads to GAS. At least that's what I've found. Due to being at uni I've not been spending as much time with the band recently. So I decided I'd start looking at what I really wanted in a bass. I lowered the action as was a bit disappointed that my Jazz was never going to be as low as other basses I've owned in the past. Sounded good but have to wrestle to slap it well. Got to band practice last week. Panic stations, why Can't I hear anything?! Action back up. Ahhh. There we are. I knew I loved you. I should never have doubted you... I intend to end up with one Jazz and something exotic eventually. Not for a good few years yet though
9. I've just had someone else offer me one Dave, she's all yours!
10.
Ive already confirmed ill take it but as i dont think ill get to use it for a while im happy to let you have it if kurcatovium is ok with that.
Aha not to worry! Its not a necessity here either, Just a good price and a good replacement for my BBOT!
11.
Definatley. Basschats very own OBBM produces some quality leads, very good prices too. Really noticed the difference, when A/Bd with my Planet Waves leads - much more depth and all over even tone.
Really? That is interesting. I've recently bought myself some planet waves cable simply for the lifetime guarantee, I don't think my tone suffers for it par se but its an interesting one.
12.
Just put my MIJ 51 reissue on here £21500 less
And my moneys on yours playing better
13.
I didnt say he did, but as waynes last sentence is this. So fair cop right enough, I was just adding my thoughts and views!
And we're all richer for it! Sorry I wasn't intending to do your post down
14. From my experiences with warwicks Ive found the MEC pre to be fine with cabs that dont have tweeters and or cabs you can turn them off on. The treble seems to give a great growl. I agree with a tweeter it does get quite "clangy" for want of a better word.
15. As a tight fisted so and so whenever I play a bass that isnt strung with flats or elixirs all I can think about is the money trickling away as they gradually die... they do seem to be quite high tension though so yes, I often have to give the truss rod a tweak before it feels like mine A year on and the elixirs on my jazz are just as bright as the day I got them. Marvellous (if your comfy with the feel of them of course!)
16. oh crikey... Ive been after one of these for ages! Let me consult Mr Bank manager...
17.
It can rock, it can funk and it can slap.
Fair cop but Wayne doesn't do any of those things
18.
Agree with this. I don't really know what Ampeg are upto anymore but I would suggest the market leaders in mini stack type rigs are Aguilar and possibly Berg for cabs... I use the former with a 400w amp and it fills any room I have played so far and a few outdoor stages.
Quite a differing price range though, I think the ampeg 2x10 plus amp comes in at around £500, aguilar or berg would come in at at least double that. I'd recommend keeping an eye out for some secondhand markbass gear personally!
19. Here's hoping you end up with what you really want Crez, she was a beaut for sure!
20.
Thanks guys, I'm looking at the bootcamp aswell as what my tutors giving me! I cant believe I got so many welcomes (or is it a case of 'new meat' lol).
We're looking for people to give our marketplace economy a bit of a kick start...? I've got a Mexican Jazz you can have for £3,000 - and that's a basschat only price that
21. I'm proud of playing at Glastonbury and T in the Park. I'm proud of playing on channel 4 twice, all by the age of 20. I'm not proud of the fact I still feel like it was the strength of the musicians I was playing with on all occasions that got me there! I suppose there is some skill in being in the right place at the right time...
22. www.joinmyband.co.uk has been the most successful for me! While I've not actually joined any bands through it (nothing fit quite how I wanted it) I've met up with some proper sound guys and had a load of responses
