1.
i'd really like to try one of these fellas out, checked the PDF manual for it and was shocked that there is no XLR out (just the jack) and no Tuner out.... guess i,ve been spoilt by my ABM and Trace amps.... ;-)
Wow, no balanced XLR DI? No deal!
2.
Can it be posted in the "Site News" section so it appears at the top of the main page (i.e. where it currently shows "Basschat.co.uk latest news: I won an award... Jazz Journalist Of The Year.")?
I think thats reasonable, I'll do it now
3. Was this mine at one point...? Either way I owned one just like it and it was lovely! Really nice neck. Didnt feel much different from most fives I'd played which really made the switch easier. Good luck!
4. This is my MIM classic 70's jazz. Aint she pretty. If you can find one to try first I'd go for it, they're great value.
5.
You would eschew them for their unusual appearance even if they sounded Brobdingnagian?? For shame!
To be honest, I dont think they could sound amazing enough to make me forget about the looks (That is to say, my playing probably wouldnt do them justice anyway!)
6.
I like it! And the purpleness.
It seems something they're pretty set on - and thus I'm really glad they haven't given in to what a cab "should" look like. But in doing so they aren't for everyone. And definitely not for me!
7. I haven't checked but that seems like a super bargain for someone!
8. I still think I'd consider these a whole lot more if they had a better name/logo. I know it shouldn't matter but these things really nag at me.
9. This might end up in me buying a P bass... I've been GAS free for a year now! God damnit.
10. Another plus one for a nice Yamaha TRB here - It feels least like a big chunky six string of all the 6 strings I've played, if that makes sense!
11.

Its been a while since ive laughed out loud whilst browsing! "I've got another english term for you, sh*tehawk." haha.
12. Hmm, Gloves or elixirs... Gloves or elixirs... If that recordings with gloves though I'll be seriously impressed.
13. I'm seeing a trend. Stingrays and bassfaces... I might get a stingray just to enter the next competition!
14. mesa boogie road ready aswell! Although im not sure they're still in production?
15. Hmm - Good poll Rich! I own the Classic Mexican series and love it to pieces. Its my bass and I really can't see myself letting it go (which for me is a big step!). Although, If money was of no object then I think I'd shoot for a sadowsky. I played one once and it really blew me away.
16. You must state a price, feeler or no i'm afraid
17. I was going to add something constructive to this debate but my mind turned red and all I want to say is this; Lauren Laverne is a tuffing fwat.
18.
BF Vintage
yup yup yup! Although, Im tempted not to post this until someone has posted something in-between - two barefaced recommendations in a row is pitchfork-worthy. Otherwise, Aguilar GS 410/12? how much you gonna spend Mr?
19. may well be interested in the lot here, I'll PM you later this evening.
20.
Deep. That's exactly how I'd describe the neck on these. Chunky seems to be overstating it compared to other necks out there.
+1 Ive owned just shy of 20 basses (i'm only 19...! ) but this is the only bass i've owned that feels like mine. Its far from perfect, I think my bridge is slightly mis-aligned, The actions higher than most basses (though thats more preference, it will go a little lower) It was poorly shielded when I got it. But all of these things mean nothing when im playing the **** out of her and she never misses a beat - always sounds massive
21. I think you should count yourself blessed bubinga, You have "your" amp sound. Something a lot of us might never achieve in our lifetime!
22.
thats the wrong way to go about getting grit unless your obviously playing the gain on near full aswell
Pretty much, its a low powered head I use and the power tubes break up much nicer than the pre's IMO
23. I had a 1006 fretted at one point. I can confidently say this range really punches above its weight!
24. I ofetn use the hi-hat to determine when a note should end...? Especially for our slower numbers. I dont know if its a rule of thumb or just the way our band works out, but its often the case where the bass drum "opens" the note and hihat "closes" it.
