They look impressive. 1200W at 4ohm in a cab that weighs 25kg. WOW.... what are you guys using these for? Reminds me of arena power-line-ups. (best I go with some T'Midgets.....) But very tempting those Vintages.
The thing for me Rene is that with the vintage i have SO much headroom, I dont need to find a tone that cuts through my band. I can find a pleasant tone and just make it loud enough for people to hear! It really is a revelation on that front.
  2. I think mine must have been Placebo in about '05 Amazing to think i barely even knew what a bass was back then...
  3.
very tempted it's just the problem of not getting to try it out beforehand, do you do a 2X15 version? i'm after biblically loud (just made the mistake of offering to make a 200watter head for my guitarist)
The vintage is 2x15 Your welcome to try mine should you ever be in the blackpool vicinity!
  4.
Landed this morning at 850am! I was hungover so as yet I haven't played with it. Very impressed with service from Bass Merchant yet again. Pics n review up soon, more than likely tomorrow.
Tease! Im in a predicament. I really want to push my barefaced vintage a bit harder, but i dont know if really all im after is more gain, so i have the choice of either selling my 6.0 and buying a bass terror, or saving up for a shuttle 9... Hmm!
  5. the other thing to consider in favour of slapping is that weather we like to admit it or not, Most amps do sound very similar finger style. There are some obvious exceptions but i find amps have a more unique voice when being subjected to slap than finger style. That being said, 30 seconds of slap would give you a perfectly good idea...
  6.
If you're referring to the Vintage, it's 46lbs. S.P.
I meant Kilo's
  7. yes, yes you are! I'll sort yaout.
  8.
I suppose the only advice I could offer you is to make sure that it doesn't become "Look at how technically good the bass player and drummer are". That being said the other month I gigged with a band that was two dudes, one guy with a Rick through a fuzz pedal and a drummer who also sang. They played really energetic alternative post-punk. And they SUCKED.
If your talking about apes fight back, i thought they where awesome. Stop being such a misery guts!
  9.
Mines not including the 28KG Head
Anyway, heres a quick video i managed to get before my camera died. Im wondering if its only me thats getting a random hiss everytime i play... Its only on youtube, not the original video! Hmm... Either way, i think it might dissuade some people from getting the tweetered version. mines without and is still really nice and growly aswell as being wonderfully deep
  10.
Great. I probably don't need selling on its sonic performance but hopefully you'll let me see how it feels to lift, Steve.
Of course! Its amazing that you can now have a 600watt 2x15 rig that weighs a smidgen over 25lbs...
  11.
Mine was a little loose in the corner anyway, took me about 10 seconds Check out that hot tweeter action!
I feel really dirty looking at a vintage without its clothes on. It'd be like seeing the queen in the nuddie.
  12.
Ordered mine! ^_^ Can't wait to play through it! What about those videos MythSte?
Ahh yes! I'll get on that now... Excuse the playing like...! Oh an also, there will be a Vintage on the Basschat stand at bassday this coming sunday, a bit of a homage to alex's success through the site (not only the site like, but its helped!)
  13. Right! I shall also be on the basschat stand with my Barefaced Vintage if anyone wants a tinkle.

I dont suppose you bought this from Frets in Clevelys did you? If so i played it last year and it really blew me away!
  15. I'll still offer my temping duties if you need them maxiboy.
  16. I'm going this year! About sodding time too. Alex, If you want me to try and get my vintage up to the RIM stand let me know.
  17. 80's Jap. But thats only because i know how good mine is!
  18.
Nice! Mmm... I think Alex's getting a PM quite soon!
You wont regret it... I'm going to be putting up some more videos soon
  19. Hmm, since i joined this site... omm, Well. I had my jazz for about 3 months before buying a rather nice P a few weeks ago...
  20.
Thanks for that, the USB/jack lead option seems a lot cheaper but would this compromise the sound in any way compare to the mic? I will try this reaper thing to and keep you posted. Thanks a lot
Well, realistically, i'd say a healthy three quarters of the bass tones you hear are DI'd and not mic'd anyway. The trouble is to get a good sound on bass through a mic you've got to have A ) a good sized room with good acoustics B ) a decent mic (which can cost upwards of £200) C ) a quality audio interface which will convert mic level lines. (again, upwards of £200) With something like the line six toneport you could just plug straight in and have some virtual amps at your fingertips. If however, you really do want a nice mic and some nice interfaces, I think there are people on here who know a LOT more than me about it that might want to chime in!
  21. For a simple but very capable system I recomend purchasing a simple USB DI, or even something as simple as this USB/Jack lead to your PC and then downloading reaper. You dont really need a mic unless you're desperate to get "your sound" down. You could shoot for a Line 6 toneport if your after some nice tones too. These two should last you much longer and give you less lag than with audacity, which i found good for editing but not so great for recording.
  22. I hope so. On the list of things ireallywantbutmostdefinatelycantaffordevenifisoldakidney, This is pretty near the top.
  23. I think it was Stanly Clarke that said "If it dont sound like theres a car machanic in the background your doing it wrong!" Or words to that effect anyway. But if its not a constant click all over the neck, I'd shoot for an action tweak first.
