1. Are the new specials active? If you can find a passive one that plays nicely then I think you'll be onto a winner. Otherwise most all Fender mex actives ive played have been hella noisy. Enjoy yourself in the States!
  2.
Well now, if AndyTravis said he was going to do a comparison in the face of the fact that some people think there's no difference there would have been dicussion fodder wouldn't there?
Well now we've got the ball rolling...
  3.
Without trying to be a git....er, what's the topic of discussion or interesting bit of information you're imparting that will provoke discussion on a discussion board? Now, if it had pictures and happened to be in gear porn it would be another mater.........
I for one am interested as to how much difference there will be tonewise after fitting a badass, and to do it to two basses might show some interesting comparisons
  4.
Nice Warwick btw!
We're all family up here! It does look a little intimidated between my fenders in my room though...
  5. Ahh, I do miss my Schroeder, the one Lemmywinks has now and Dave tried. But the problems outlined are just unacceptable. Even my barefaced vintage is well put together and that was made by some bloke in brighton
  6. I can vouch for both these cabs and Mr Carey. Used to have one of these cabs and he's bob on about it being really sweet and smooth. Whilst Nick himself is an absolute gent! Bargain IMO.
  7.
Thanks Alex! Can the tweeter be adjusted (e.g. different setting) and is it defeatable? Does it give you the highs you need for instance for slapping? I don't slap that much, but I would not like to be limited my the cab if I want to.
I really enjoy slapping through the Vintage but if your used to a tweeter slap tone you'd better try before you buy. The slap tone is a lot "punchier" on the pops than most people are used too, but in a band you can actually hear it, which is a nice change from most tweeter'd cabs i've used. Where abouts are you? Im sure theres a vintage owner near you that wont mind you having a whirl. Edit, Okay, maybe there isnt! Hmm...
  8.
Shows what you know then... It's a Telecaster.
Best smiley ever...!
  9. Alrate! Just picked up an '85 Jap Squier precision, and i really love it. Although whenever my finger taps the pickup (which is more or less every pluck) i get a thumping noise through my amp. Im pretty sure being as my fingers arnt metal this shouldnt happen... Any ideas?
  10. For all of you saying its easier to have one power point and one power lead out to mains, I just Tie wrapped a 4-way to the back of a rack case when i needed too, it was cheaper!
  11.
I remember that ad, remembered thinking... God I really want a Aerodyne Jazz. haha.
I mentioned this to my girlfriend at the time. she "went to make a cup of tea" for 2 hours.
  12.
lol, keep wishing kidda... i am never giving that baby up. Sorry
Hehe, and wish i will! I had the V4 combo and it was a monster! weighed more than me though...! (ish...)
  13. If you ever want to go lightweight and trade that V4, let me know!
  14.
Had two days to get acquainted with my new USA P5 and have to say, I'm really impressed with the build quality and finish. The neck is superb and feels worn in, I particularly like the new finish. The tuners are rock solid - smooth and positive. The neck pocket is as tight as a camels arse in a sandstorm and notes ring out and sustain for ages - and that's with flats FFS. The biggest surprise for me is how light it is yet it still feels solid as a solid thing. Really really pleased with this bass.
I dont suppose theres any chance of some sound clips is there Al? Theirs something inside of me that just refuses to believe a 5th string on a P bass will actually make any noise, at all!
  15. I briefly had a mag 300, It was just a very solid, very good staple bass tone! My only complaint being that it ran out of puff a little sooner than i'd have liked. Alas if your shooting for the 600 it shouldnt be a problem!
  16. Yup, i had one of these and it was beautiful. I dare say a "bigger" sounding low B than a bongo i had not long after it. Make sure you get the weight of the one your buying though! The one i had was the heaviest bass ive had by a long shot. and was really harsh just to carry around in a gig bag!
  17.
Just taken delivery of a Vintage. Pics to follow - with Ampeg V4BH (AV) on top of course.......
thats more valve and vintage porn i just dont need
  18. I do love it when you see someone who just gets it right, even better when theres evidence to suggest they didnt mean too! I remember one guy playing a Yamaha RBX or something with a pick into the house SVT-3pro and it had such a perfect grindy rock tone. Couldnt recreate it if i tried. i remember going up and fiddling with every knob possible and getting no-where near it, ah well!
  19.
See here...
Ahh thanks! So if i plug the ports i wont lose all my funk and i'll be able to put it on its side? Awesome...
  20. Just out of interest Alex, what would be the effect of placing any of your cabs on the side? Ive been tempted to put my vintage on its side just to look even more old skool...
  21.
How about attaching the badge like tc. electronic does with their logo.
I think this is a really classy design and i dont know why. I think its almost like saying "Yeah, we have a badge, but we're gonna put it out the way because we dont need to shout about it"

    If...

If you had all the bits and they just needed assembling it really wouldnt be as hard as you think to do it yourself!
  23. Mikes a good guy ladies and gents, Buy with confidence!
  24.
I don't really understand why the convention extends to bass amps, but it does.
Probably because most venues take a DI to the PA before the amp, meaning the amp is just for stage noise.
  25.
see if gak will send a new set but tbh i see it as the same as buying a drum kit. they all have show skins on so you buy new ones when you buy the kit.
Im not a drummer so i did not know this, But it sure as hell makes me glad im not!
