1.
Just took delivery of a brand new 2009 American Standard Precision today, which appears to be spot on, but to be honest, it sounds really dull! The D string is dead, and I have had to lift the pickup height to get a balance of volume on the others. Is it possible that the strings on a brand new bass are knackered in some way? I bought it from GAK and assumed it would be fresh in a box, but it sure looks like it might have been on display somewhere, so I guess this might explain it. Or are Fender strings not of the best quality? Bob
Generally speaking the stock strings arnt fantastic, but should be better than that. Phone GAK and get them to sort it out.
 2. I suppose it also depends on the size of the show. If we where to play for the BBC or something, We'd take all our own gear. But at a grungy club in manchester its just a given that either the venue or the headlining act supply drum kit and bass amp. Hmm.
 3.
Beat me to it. I've used this 3 times - it doesn't get better than 0% finance & yes, you can get amps on this
Its a cracking Sceme. I'm seriously considering getting me some Rickenbacker on it...
 4. Heres my Mexican 75RI, Fortunately i managed to grab it before the price hike, If you can get it for around £430 anywhere i'd grab it. Try and play it first also, this wasnt the first i'd played but was the best by quite a way.
 5. Take it Away Scheme I'm not sure you can just get an amp on this, but i found the music shop to be most accomodating for getting round little things like that when i sorted mine out!
 6. oh my days. Anyone want to trade a Shuttle 6.0 for a big ol tubey monster!?
 7.
What was that?
I believe the technical term is an eff off amount of GAS!
 8.
To tighten up a tube head with a geet big fat low end?
Mmm, Tube heads and vintage... Stop it! Please!
 9. Damn those pesky hills in the way... when the trainline websites backup i'll see how much it'll cost to get over...
 10.
if you know what you are doing it only takes a few minutes to change the stage over.
There in lies the problem im afraid! I dont think its unreasonable for drums and bass amp to be supplied by headlining band. I think your well and truly in the minority as far as always using your own gear is concerned. Especially if your talking drums and all.
 11. If a band provides backline, I'd expect drums (minus snare, pedal and symbols) and bass amp. Unless otherwise stated. this has been the case for most every gig ive ever played, and ive played my fair share!
 12. Ive owned a LM2 and currently own a Genz-Benz Shuttle 6.0. To be honest, i dont think there's anything in it. both cracking amps, neither will leave you disappointed!
 13. Playing a £4k custom bass only makes me 2p better (See what i did there?! About face! A one two, a one two...)
 14.
Golf isn't it? Alex
Thats the one! You wont be disappointed shockwave
 15.
I know people who can't tell the difference between lamb and pork, nowt to be proud of though is it?
I need cheering up today! Thanks! haha
 16. Bilbo! You should be setting an example...! I cant get on with the risk involved in a custom. You can tell a luthier every nuance in your playing and its still 50/50 weather it'll feel how you want it when you finally get it in your mits!
 17.
You're V5. V8 is still available! Alex
Is V5 a type of Razor? hah.
 18. Tbh, If i had 10k to spend on a bass*, I think i'd buy this one. *I dont, and probably never will!
 19.
I was going to say I'd Tippex it on the back... but I'm actually so proud of being V1 that I might just get a big stencil set and a spray-can and do it huge across the grille-cloth.
I wonder what V i am. I'd have quite liked to be V8...
 20. Theres a very useful sticky Here.
 21.
By between your legs I assume you mean holding it vertically?
You got it
 22. 1) most everything at home. 2) Horizontal on a table, aside from neck relief, in which case between my legs! 3) I dont think so!
 23.
i live pretty near there. i'd be more than happy to pop round and explain the situation to him. and i don't mean this in a threatening way at all, just maybe a face-to-face will shame him into relenting?
This guy has a beard, and judging by his avatar, could pass for Chuck Norris. Good plan.
