  1. This is a Beauty.. and I totally agree with this comment, its by far the most logical way to mark a fretless neck and the easiest to play too.. always baffles me why so very few fretless boards are lined this way.. GLWTS
  2. I wonder how something like this would work for busking with a lower wattage combo, like 25-50w max? https://www.amazon.co.uk/Jackery-PowerBar-Portable-Generator-23200mAh/dp/B07CKSPVM8/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_60_t_2?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=32XPSDXCV73QJ693JDEJ
  3. Very unusual finish... really cool though ☺️
  4. Just bought a nice little mini fretless from Aidan... Fantastic comms from the start and he even insisted that I try the bass out before he would take any money from me... considering I live in Ireland and he had to pack and ship the bass to me first I thought this was a really nice gesture and very trusting indeed! The bass was well packed and arrived in good shape... I have no hesitation in recommending Aidan as a seller... top notch stuff!
  5. Hi... yes it really is incredibly comfortable to wear and play... its a normal 34" scale
  6. Having succumbed to some recent and unexpected vintage bass GAS I find myself needing to recoup some funds so I am selling my amazing lightweight Jake L 4P Classic Precision Bass from Maruszczyk Instruments in Germany. This is a superb bass in every way and weighs only 3.1kg ( just under 7lbs) making it extremely comfortable to play even for long periods, its like wearing a feather, seriously!! The bass is less than 1 year old and was bought new by me from Pierre Ganseman at https://bassfreaks.net/. Great warm and punchy P Bass tone from the Alder body combined with the Delano pickup, these really are extremely well made instruments as many members on here already know. Currently strung with nice new GHS Pressure wounds (rounds) which sound really great but I can put an almost new set of D' Addario chrome flats on if you prefer a more old school tone. Condition is pretty much as I bought it, in other words its absolutely mint, like new! This model is creeping up on £950stg for a new one nowadays so I think my asking price is very fair. The bass is located in Ireland but shipping to the UK and other European countries can be arranged in a used but very robust hard case. Any other questions please PM and I'll do my best to answer asap.. No trades I'm afraid, need the money on this occasion... Here is a video of this very bass being demonstrated by Adrian from Maruszczyk Instruments before it left his shop:
  7. Whats the weight? Cheers
  8. Pretty much my experience as well.. my cab is a Barefaced Supercompact and the Quilter just delivers with any bass I plug into it.. I use the exact same settings as above with my Stingray or Jazz but I like to crank the gain a but more with my Precision in for a bit of that tubey sag.. great versatile amp and tons of volume on tap if required.
  9. Reading through a similar thread over on TB and this pedal gets lots of love... http://www.barberelectronics.com/linden_compact.html It is just an EQ pedal though and not a preamp! Apparently it was discontinued but re-released again last year. The circuitry is described as emulating a B15, so warm and fat etc... its a nice compact size too... the only problem is that its in the US so will need to be shipped/imported etc and it also appears to be out of stock at the moment... sounds like it could be worth waiting for though?
  10. Oops just read this... I guess it will do B15 well then 😯
  11. Does the VT pedal do the B15 thing well (spongy, warm) or is it better at the SVT thing? I definitely prefer the B15 tone...
  12. I bought Bridgehouse's 4 string a few weeks back... extremely punchy and versatile instrument... I put a set of La Bella tapes on mine and the tone is rich and warm but still very defined... cant recommend theses basses highly enough!
  13. For once the DI doesn't worry me.. I want a standalone combo that can produce a reasonable bass tone and keep up with an unamplified acoustic guitar and a few traditional instruments (no drums) in a small pub or occasionally busking... the size, weight and possibility of running on battery power are uppermost in the pecking order on this occasion.. I want to be able to slot in to an acoustic session with my bass with minimal fuss, take up as little space as possible and be able to carry my full rig in and out in one go comfortably... apart from the Double Four there are very few other contenders that weight sub 5kg so this little combo is definitely still in the running ☺
  14. In my quest for a really small and extremely lightweight bass combo that has enough poke to do an acoustic session I stumbled across this one and the thing that intrigued me was that it runs on a 19v DC adapter which is exactly the same as the Phil Jones Double Four... now I know the PJB is a quality unit and is much loved, however it is also twice the price of the VX50BA and in this demo the Vox sounds pretty nice... If a laptop battery will run one of these ala the Double Four ( and I cant see what it wouldnt) I must admit its quite tempting!
  15. Guys did anyone end up buying a Poweradd battery for their Double Four and if so what kind of charger are you using with it? Cheers.. Dave
  16. Another beauty Mike ☺️
  17. Nice fretless... particularly like the piezo tone.. its not cheap though.. €766 on Thomann... Ouch!!
  18. Gazza is a sweet player... China Crisis were/are much underrated in my opinion and the bass parts always fitted the songs perfectly 🙂
