Cheers guys, Hadn't considered yamahas until you mentioned them, but have just read some reviews and they come highly recommended. Will be off to try out both yamaha and Ibanez (SR5006e looks stunning - tad pricey though!), Has anyone got an opinion on/played an ESP Ltd B206sm??? Thanks again.

Definitely a lovely bass, just out of my budget I'm afraid.

Hi all, Have recently decided to move onto a 6 string bass, as I'm playing more funk and R & B, with only ever having played a 4 string I'm not looking to spend a great deal on my first 6 string but would like to get a good mix of quality and value. Budget wise I have between £300-£500ish. I would really appreciate it if any of you could give me some recommendations. Cheers.

Hi All, I have decided to put up my Trace 1818 for sale or trade. I have owned it for about 10 years now and have regularly giged with it, it has never let me down providing great lows every time. I listed this cab a while back and withdrew it as I just couldn't part with it, but would like to have another 4x10 to go with the one I have. I would like £200 for it or would do a straight swap/trade for an old Trace 4x10 like the top cab in the pics. The 1818 is 300W @ 8ohms, making it a great extension if your using a 2x10 [sharedmedia=core:attachments:72345] [sharedmedia=core:attachments:69009] [sharedmedia=core:attachments:69008] [sharedmedia=core:attachments:69005] [sharedmedia=core:attachments:69003] [sharedmedia=core:attachments:69002]

Cheers for the replies. have found some more suitable drivers, and had a good chat with the guys at Blue Aran, and I'm edging towards a Fane Colossus 18B. has any one used one of these or have any other recommendations? Cheers Gui.

Hi All, am looking to replace the driver in my 1818 trace elliot cab. is it just a case of a straight swap if the ohmage etc are the same or is it more complicated than that? also the only 18" drivers that i can find are the eminence delta and sigma pro and cellestion ftr, these seem to be listed as PA speakers but would they be ok in my bass cab? cheers in advance for the help. Gui.

[quote name='bucko' post='1102943' date='Jan 25 2011, 10:47 PM']Hi Would you post 2x10 combo to N.Ireland. Cheers.[/quote] Hi i'll have to check the cost of the courrier as it is relatively heavy with it being the older stuff. I'll weigh the cab this weekend and work out the cost, would you be prepared to meet me half way on the cost of the courrier?? cheers

I will get the existing driver checked over before making my desicion to replace or not as it is definately sensible to do so...... however checking out the above mentioned companies (Lean and Blue Aran) I have come across the Eminence Sigma pro 18, can enyone tell me if this would be any good as i'm after a warm yet clear low tone.... cheers

cheers for the help guys. I'll check out Lean and Bluearan this week. the main reason for the potential replacement is that the current driver is starting to lose its tone and sound pretty muddy. cheers Gui

Hi All I was thinking of replacing the driver in my Trace 1818 cab, but I don't have much idea what is good aside the obvious (celestion and eminence)..... I checked out their websites and they don't do 18inch speakers unless you are a manufacturer and buy in bulk. anyone have any ideas or advice?? cheers

what about a Trace Elliot 1015h? 2x10 and 1x15 in one cab, can pick those up new for 640...well within budget. worth checking out at least.
-
There are some good Trace Elliot Cabs for sale on the forum too, i have a 1x18 and a 2x10 for sale, but you should go with what suits your sound. 18's will give great low end especially if you downtune and the 2x10 will really punch those mids and tops through...... check out my profile if you want to as there are some pics on there.

i guess it would depend on what sort of volume/versitility your after. i would think that 300-500w would be more than adequate power wise, but depending on tone etc you cant really go far wrong with trace elliot or ashdown for your budget. i have played through a trace ah500-7 for years and found it more than comfortable for all kinds of size gigs and styles. what cabs have you?
