1. Hi all, I am selling my jazz bass, built using quality parts from Warmoth, Schecter, Fender and Schaller. Bit of an odd one this - it's based on the bass used by Matt Sharp during his time with 90's geek rockers Weezer. As a slightly obsessive fan, I spent a fair amount of time and money collecting the parts and then it was put together by Jack from Jack's Instrument Services in Manchester. I did a build thread at the time which is here... http://basschat.co.u...age__hl__weezer The bass has a Geddy Lee body from Japan, a Warmoth Ebony/Birdseye Maple tele bass neck with jazz bass width at the nut, Schaller 3D black bridge and a pair of jazz pickups from a Schecter USA Custom from 1996. The pups can be coil tapped, but are currently just wired as a standard jazz. The neck is superb and feels great. The birdseye on the back is stunning and I paid a premium for the jet black ebony on the fretboard. This was made in 2011, so plenty of life left in the frets. Currently has Schaller BML tuners on it. The body has its fair share of chips and surface scratches. It's by no means mint, but the origianl bass that this is based on is beat up, so I didn't mind. I used the body as it comes with the 70's pickup spacing like the original. The pickguard and control plate/neck plate are all Warmoth and are great quality, the tort looks real good. Finding the pickups for this was a nightmare. These are top quality USA made pups and aren't sold separately, so I needed to find someone who had replaced their pups from a Schecter custom bass. Finally tracked some down from a guy on Talkbass after about 2 years of looking on and off. I've only seen one other set come up on ebay in the past 4 or 5 years. So, I'm after £650 for this, plus postage. I appreciate that most people aren't hardcore Weezer fans though, so I'm happy to part this out if people want to go that way. If it seems that this is most liekly, I'll update this OP with prices for each bit, or if you want a few parts we can sort somehting out. I'm in Lancaster so collection is always good but I'm usually in various parts of the country so delivery/meet up is something to consider. It could do with a new set of strings as it's been neglected for my Gibson G-3 recently, which I can sort if needs be, but I would recommend you use strings you normally use and get it setup to how you like it Anyway, a few pictures to show you what it's like. Any questions please ask
2. Watching it too, as my other half is from Stoke. When it was first on, the price seemed to jump pretty quickly too...no way would they get £1250 for it though. Oh well.
3.
Monday - Experiment with dropping tuning down a whole step, play for a while, adjust to a half step down, eventually decide it was ok in standard tuning. Tuesday - Spend most of the evening making minor adjustments to string height, pickup height, make sure all scratch plate screws are tight. Wednesday - Alternate between my two basses trying to decide which one is best and if you can actually hear the difference between maple and rosewood fingerboard. Thursday - I like to spend thursdays sharing a bottle of wine with Miss Manzie, occasionally interrupting the TV by asking her for an opinion on what strap height looks coolest and if she likes the white or the sunburst precision. Friday - Time to knuckle down and practice! I find the best way to practice is play the wrong notes over Marvin Gaye's 'What's Going On' for two hours. Saturday - Unfortunately the depression brought on by Friday's terrible practice session has resulted in a conviction to sell both basses and the rig. Spend time researching prices on the internet. Sunday - Realisation! It's not my playing that's the problem, it's because I don't have the right bass! Spend all evening looking at Basschat classifieds and listening to clips of Stingrays on YouTube. Monday - Hmmm. Maybe I don't need a Stingray. Let's try dropping the tuning down a whole step... 4. It's about £900 overpriced...reduce it and give it to me! Seriously though, looking forward to pics, good luck with the sale
5. Can't wait to see pics...the new V4B's seem quite thin on the ground over here, but look super.
6. I know Mike Dirnt from Green Day used a few during the Nimrod/Warning days...always thought he had a great sound.
7. Very nice. Saw one of these at Academy of Sound in Stoke, and it looked the d's b's. Didn't have time to play it, but that P/J looks great.
8. Bought Ivan's SFT pedal. Bought midday on the Friday, was at the front door at 10am Saturday. Superb! Cheers fella
9. WANT SFT....CAN'T AFFORD ANY NEW PEDAL PURCHASES Good luck with the sale
10. Already got one of these, but pics are always nice
11. Hi all, Picked this up this afternoon from Jack's Instrument Services in Manchester. Bought it back in February this year, but needed a few bits and pieces for it and finally got my hands on it now! Sounds incredible, really nice driving tone that's even all across the fretboard. Neck is really comfortable and action is low so it's a breeze to play. I bought it in a sorry state, but pleased to have it brought back from the dead. I kind of did a restoration thread here, if anyone is interested. 12. Cheers all, can't wait to get it! The work was done by Jack at Jack's Instrument Services in Manchester in case anyone was wondering. Top notch work and great fella to work with too - highly recommended!
13. Picture overload

15. So...picking this up on Saturday
16. Can't believe this is still here...seems a hell of a bargain! Good luck, I'd have it if I have some spare cash!
17. heck, that's a billy bargain
18. They occasionally turn up on ebay. Theres a pickup on now for a grabber but with pickguard and slider etc. Think its £250 though, which is taking the michael.
19. Thought I'd update this as things are not starting to take shape. Dropped the bass off in Manchester for the restoration a while back. We've had to go with a new fretboard as the old one was pretty much shot, so it'll have a new board and new frets. Spoke to the tech last week and we're going to get the old lacquer off the neck and start from scratch with a bit of a vintage tint, but nothing too orange! All the pickups were getting their correct readings when we tested them, so should be good to go with those and I've decided on a Badass II for the bridge. Looking forward to getting it back and giving it a thrashing
20. Love the Green Russians!
21. I picked one of these up earlier this year - cracking little amps and look great too. Good score
22. I've had two tele bass necks from them and various bits of hardware. Not cheap, but then the product is pretty much spot on and the custom options are great. Even things that aren't listed on the website can be accommodated. Great communication as well and the guys there seem to know there stuff. I used to go on the unofficialwarmoth forums for loads of good info and watching the latest builds peopel were doing. Also, sorry for pedant alert, but it's not Warmouth, it's Warmoth. Pedant alert off
