Ste - you've finally done it...you've got too much Matamp!
-
I've had an AD200B and a Bassman 135. Both are absolute cracking amps. I think I preferred the 135 when it was cranked as opposed to the Orange. The 135 really roared at volume, but was still nice and fat. The Orange is equally great, but they do sound different, to me anyways. I think the Oranges pre-amp gain could be a little sizzly and a little too trebly, whereas the 135 was nice at any setting. If I had the choice, I'd get a Matamp...or the 135 again. Biggest issue I had was that I wasn't gigging at the time I had both, so running them at 1 on the master volume really didn't allow them to shine. Crank them with a drummer and 2 Marshall's and you're ready to rock.

Any update on this Rumple? I do love a good build thread!

Bought my old muff clone off Ste. Easy peasy, thanks mate.

It can definitely do a creamy bluesy tone, but I found it did break up relatively easy. Crank the master volume and keep the gain low to get a big fat bassy pillowy sound. I love that overdriven sound, so I did the opposite, cranked the gain to about 2 o'clock and used master to taste. Although they're rated at 200watts, there's quite a bit of discussion on the net about them coming in under this...maybe about 160watts, so you're not going to get massive volume unless you've got plenty of speakers.

Just got a new Boschma case, it's mint.

You explained that a lot better than I did! Much appreciated Crez.

That's the jaspers. So does it go... them square bits, then the rack rail, then the screws? Does that even make sense!? Hah

HI chums, My good good ladyfriend has got me a Boschma rack case today for Christmas. Seeing as she started wearing the coat I got her last year, before Christmas Day, I figured I'm going to put the amp in it today and enjoy it early! I digress...I've never had a rack case before so not entirely sure how things fit in them. I've got 12 screws and 12 brass square-type things, they look like these... Do the square bits clip into the rack, or just go behind the rack rails, and the screws secure them? A youtube video would be most helpful! Thanks in advance Rack owners!

Beautiful. That colour green looks a lot better than I thought it would be. Lots of pictures during the assembly please!!

Ahh Matamp. Good call. What are the cabs underneath that amp in the picture? Are the 2x10's? I'll own a GT200 one day...one distant day!

Hi Jack, Hope you're good? Me and the bass are doing great thanks. Not a hint of wanting to sell it, which must be some kind of record for me! Hope I'm not gushing here, but just want to say that Jack provided a great service and the bass was assembled, setup and tinkered with to my liking for a very reasonable price and I think it was all done in less than a week. Any North West people needing work done should check him out. Cheers again Jack

I've had a few Warmoth parts in the past few years, including both showcase and custom made things, and despite some minor hesitations about what the final product will be like, it has always exceeded my expectations. If it were me, I'd wait and be surprised. That's part of the fun for Warmoth IMO. Best of luck with the project!

When I had an AD200B, I tried the Terror and it does get a similar sound and tone, but the heft and brute force of an AD200B just tips it for me. If you're looking for a valve-ish amp with great sound, you wouldn't go wrong with a Terror Bass.

Thanks folks. Might be worth a punt for 90 notes. Great looking bass Jean Luc

The only ones I know that do the long stem one are actual Fender, and also Gotoh. Here... Thanks Jean-Luc GW - Can you elaborate? Not really seen any bad press for them (in my limited searching)

Hi all, In my never ending quest for Jazz basses I can tinker with, I came across £90 alder Jazz bass bodies from Brandoni. Anyone had any experience of them and does anyone know if they come pre-drilled for bridges and a neck? I've read on here they're Japanese made and similar to Fender Japan quality. Seems like a bit of a bargain. Ta

Surf Green is, IMO, the best of the 50's and 60's Fender colours. I'd love to make a Jazz in Surf Green with no pickguard, just a '62 control plate.

Gone... I'm going to be expecting a delivery in the next few days... Road Tax is due
-
Horses for courses and all that. I'd much rather have one of these than one of the first Precisions. In fact, if I had an original P-bass, I'd probably sell it and buy 10 of these
-
Thanks all. She plays a treat, and looks cracking too. Si - hope you're still enjoying the Orange. I've been hankering for another one but I always consider getting another when I have zero money!
-
Now the real question is... if you had a spare 2.5k lying around, would you get this, or get a Matamp GT200 and spend the rest on other fun items?
