Anybody remember British Leyland in the 70s, and some of their ghastly cars? Remember how badly screwed together they were, bits falling off all over the place? Remember Alfa Romeo doing much the same thing in the 80s? Was their quality control done by the Chinese? No, it was just bad. QED.
Not personally but..... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zGpTw7ka9i8 More to the point though, I have a Sound Control Special Superfly amp. Fine once it decides it is going to power up but I have to d**k around with the 110-230v switch over on the back sometimes. A bit of hiss as well but not noticable once the whole band is playing and barely noticable at all when at low volumes (practice in the house). All round not bad at all for £200 but I would not have been happy paying the original price before they slashed it.

Both my thumbs bend like that too. It has nothing to do with playing bass. Trust me I suck

The Bassist from my mates old band (awesome chops) and the first band we played gigs with in my first used a laney. 1x15 and 4x10 with a nice little head. No idea of the model number or any other specifics but it served him well over the years and I borrowed it a couple of times until I got my act together and sorted my own amp out. Sounded pretty dang good to my untrained ears.

I have always had a soft spot for Bolton but they have never been teh same since big Sam left Seriously though, I have both Bolt on and neck thru. Both completely different types of bass though so it would be impossible to make a decision based on those. I choose dont care but I will chop and change depensing on the song.

I am trying to work on it. I dont really have the confidence in my bass playing live enough yet. I play fine but whenever I start to sing it all falls to pieces I suppose its all practice though huh.

Sorry ARGH but I had to vote no. Dont see the point of another sub forum for all the reasons stated by other chatters. Could you not just accept that some people are Douches when they post the drivvel that has brought this on? You are trying something new and more power to you, dont get hung up on other peoples views (however misguided). Edit: I have no problem with the idea but feel you might just alienate yourself even more.

Very nice! Anyone else notice the booklet says it was tested by Robert Trujillo?

I voted Tort guard. There is something about a black fender with Tort guard that just says "Awesome" to me. Couldnt skip the second bit but voted Wizard cause of all the good noise on here about them. Gonna pick a set of Jazz ones when/if I get the money.

Cant vouch for the amps but I have a 4x12 cab I use. Have never had a problem with it. Just bought a 2x10 (not Marshall) to give it a bit more punch. Does weigh a ton though.
-
Hmm I bought one from there too. Had to file the neck pocket down a bit on the plate but it fitted fine after I had done that. Had to fill a couple of holes but it definitely fitted over the pickups.
Snip....but I didn't really get on with the tuner pedal .
+1 Struggles with my E string, god forbid you need to tune a 5 banger!
cheers for replies everyone, just ordered the glx distortion pedal as it came with its recommendation, and seemed to have good reviews elsewhere. appreciated
Phew, you didnt go for the tuner
Anyone tried THESE?
I havent tried them but at £3.50 they seem like a bit of a rip off if you ask me. Cheaper to try the dunlop ones http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Pair-original-DUNLOP...1QQcmdZViewItem I know they are the same price but you will get them cheaper in a music store and they are tried and tested. I used them on my Westone (weighs an absolute ton) until I got a set of Schallers.

Just recieved one of his very own 2x10 Alien Audio cabs. A pleasure to deal with even with a bit of mucking around with Paypal. Very well built solid cab, looks nice and sounds braw. Need to get it to practice on monday so I can give it a good seeing to +1 on his packing too! Took me ages to get into it haha!

I'm sure those weren't there when we started the gig...
The_D replied to Huw's topic in General Discussion
You moved this as I was replying! Fly bastage lol. Once those harden you will have great callouses (sp?) and you wont need to worry about getting any more blisters no matter how hard you play. I remember my first two like that. Trying all night to get a real sloppy demo of 6 songs for our first band. Never had a single blister since. -
My old man has agreed to take my one off me! Woo hoo. Just means he is gonna have a 17" one lying around now. Ah well not my problem huh
They were good stuff in the day like lots of jap when they stopped making crap and started making gear as good as anything from the US. Is the second one a scam using the first?
Possibly. I never saw the original listing. Can anyone who did see it tell if maybe they have copied the pics and sh**?

Battery cover for yamaha RBX760A ll
The_D replied to makemineamythos's topic in Repairs and Technical
Ask a local dealer or contact Yamaha.
My mate needed a battery cover for his Yammy accoustic. Popped into sound control to see if they could get him one and how much it would be. The sales guy just foned Yamaha and told them to send an extra one with the next shipment. Never cost my mate a penny. Job done. -
I need a practice amp anyhoo and i'm looking at a 40 watt one and wonder whther this will be enough to jam with an accoustic guitar or an epectric on a practice amp? Thanks in advance
Without Drums? Yeah easily. With drums? Probably not unless the drummer uses daffodils as sticks
