Metal / Thrash bassist required, London.
robocorpse replied to robocorpse's topic in Musicians Wanted
Given your recent history of hand injury, I thought it best to leave it, there is some tricky stuff in some of the tracks... -
This is NOT a "what's the best bass for metal" question!
robocorpse replied to Evil Undead's topic in General Discussion
Tom Araya from Slayer used a white Jazz bass on the first 2 albums, and the bloke from the Varukers still does, and gets a completely obscene sound from it... P-basses are equally GREAT for metal. Any band worth their salt will NOT be looking at your gear, and will be listening to what you can offer them... -

Hi I bought this about a year ago with the intention of heavily modifying it to match my other T-bird. I then left the band I was in, and no longer wish to persue this build. It is exactly as I bought it, sunburst Korean Epi T-Bird, amateurly resprayed in white including fingerboard. It flakes off the frets/fingerboard fairly easily, so the fingerboard can be scraped back to rosewood with a little patience. Comes with electrics installed, bridge, tuners and some screws, strap buttons, and modified strap to get round the neck joint. Just needs pickups, guard and knob caps. Asking £70, will consider swaps for pedals/EMGs etc. West/Central/South London pickup available by arrangement. Will post if needed. SOLD, THANKS! Hi all! Bought this as a backup for my Thunderbirds, set it up, and never got round to using it after rapidly departing from said band! The original sale thread is http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=86598 Bass has been played twice since then, and lived indoors. I have reused one of the pictures from the original thread, hope Thom doesn't mind Bass is in West London, but could be picked up from Central or South by arrangement. Looking for £235 ono.

Steinberger headless bass saddles/claws?

Nobody? -
I had some handwound Kents in a couple of basses I built in the early 90s, and they were absolutely bloody STUNNING. I had mixed results with the cheaper "Sky" branded KAs from the far east, but you get what you pay for, if you can find 80s KAs, they are worth their weight in gold.

Oh you utter utter bastard! . . . . . waaanntttttttt!!!!!!

If I had the money and an option to put a slightly more sensible headstock on it, I'd love one, the body shape appeals to me greatly, as well as being a Status, which are just pure sex in graphite form.

I have just snapped one of those bloody string retainer claws on my XM2 bridge. I know there were steel repros being made recently, but they seem to have dropped off the map, maybe Gibson being a*seholes about their copyright? Does anyone have a claw they could let me have, or a trashed 80's Steinberger bridge to cannibalise?

SOLD, THANKS! FS: Warwick Tubepath 10.1 1000w bass head. It blows the internal mains fuse as soon as you plug it in. Something is obviously amiss, and I don't have the time or inclination to fix it as I am absolutely snowed under at the moment. It is approaching £1100 list price, I have seen them around £750 realistically. I'm looking for 200 quid as it stands. Its nice and clean, no damage or obvious burnouts etc. Pick up from London W13 or SE6 depending on day.
Hello, Whereabouts in Central/South London exactly? I'm not a pick player, but I really can play extremely precisely and powerfully with my fingers. Having said that though, I can play with a pick, I just prefer not to. My gear's in my signature. If I audition and you decide you might like me to join, I'll look at upgrading so I can keep up with the guitars! At the moment, my rig might be a little quiet! Cheers Alex
Its all in the hands, no gear snobbery here mate, as long as it sounds the nuts and doesnt look like it came from Argos, or a shiny endorsement deal Pure Neg sound familiar, I'm sure I've seen you at some point maybe in Harrow? I could get away with a finger player, but a lot of the stuff NEEDS pick to work with the song, so if you were happy swapping finger/pick on odd songs then yes, that could work. Rehearsal venue undecided yet, we're scattered all over London at the moment so Central seemed like a good idea, although I do use Panic quite often, nice place! -
I've had mine up at 1400 (9.5/10 mint 2001 custom order with plain top, gold parts and hangtags) and its not budged. Killer guitars, the best I have ever played, but nobody seems to have enough money to drop on one of these beauties. They don't know what they are missing, and yours looks bloody stunning.

SOLD, THANKS! FS: Gallien Kruger GK 400RB MK4 head Swapped from "Truckstop" on this very forum a little while ago, and in good working order and excellent cosmetic condition, bar a few pen marks on the control panel which could be easily removed with a bit of meths and some persistance (you shoulda used masking tape when you scrawled your settings on, Mr Truckstop!) Only other "problem" is one of the stupid little button caps has popped off the Ground Lift switch, but it doesn't matter, as you are very unlikely to need to hit it in a hurry, and if you really were desperate to have it, GK can probably supply you one for about 50p. Im looking for 265 ono complete with a 3U Gator case. Swaps/PX possible. Pick up from West London area (or South by prior arrangement). Still looking... Someone here must have a yearning for underpinning a bit of in-your-face THRASH! -
New project with experienced members from other bands require aggressive plectrum-style bassist aged 25-40 ish. Male or Female, no sexism here, I have seen a couple of OUTSTANDING girl bassists recently who knocked me sideways. Influences: Sodom, Kreator, early Metallica, Discharge, Terror, Pantera, Voivod, Celtic Frost, Exodus, Motorhead, Overkill. Rehearse in Central or South London. Looking to get this running mid-August, and be gigging by October. Own gear essential, own transport preferred, but driving licence a must. Please don't apply if you just want to be in a band and can "turn your hand to anything", as that would be a waste of both our time, we require someone with a good solid understanding of the genre and who listens to the bands listed above. Any takers?
