  1. No it wasn’t, you could get these big rolls of erm plastic with a sticky back. Always used to smell funny. But it would be way wider than sellotape. sellotape was sticky tape.
  2. 44mm is original width of a P bass neck - someone with a vintage reissue P would help you try the width too
  3. I agree with all that. The songs and the production were good. Guitar sound got a little samey after a while.
  4. what about buying this from @Acebassmusic for the pickups and preamp?
  5. stuck it on (MacBook speakers). got on with other stuff. It stayed on in the background. sounds fine to me. Sounds like there's a bit of a disconnect of where the bass tone you've got going on, and where you've been put in the mix... but if anything I would tweak the bass tone to the mix rather than the other way around
  6. Ahhh that’s a shame, some me of the technical bits and knowledge were really good on there. it was always like the late night low budget channel 4 bass forum, compared to BBC pre watershed Basschat.
  7. Buy a (cheap) P bass
  8. A preamp can have any control setup and knobs used as long as the values of the potentiometers are the same. In short I kinda would trust the gallery more than your “few people” - esp if you didn’t notice yourself!
  9. They do in as much as they can, and as much as they can workout the edges - but it’s almost 100% educated guesswork - and like @wateroftyne says we don’t know the colour of the backdrop anyway…. Or the jackets, which would be more important if we were trying To work out the bass colour - as you would have the tonal contrast to the bass.
  10. And many many santas !
  11. I can highly recommend this book if any you have any small children in your life https://www.amazon.co.uk/Steven-Seagull-Action-Hero-Dolan/dp/0192738704/ref=asc_df_0192738704_nodl/?tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=310855476898&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=12147950037604287483&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9046327&hvtargid=pla-525725005578&psc=1&th=1&psc=1
  12. You could have just changed it to something topical and humorous 🤣
  13. Oh don’t, I’ve just posted in another thread I don’t really have GAS for anything
  14. They would have originally been silver - but when doing a relic style the yellowed top coat makes it look green blue.
  15. I got the P bass I had been waiting for for over a year in September... it's amazing. A couple of weeks ago I picked up another bass, cheaper and... bit underwealmed as it doesn't add anything to what I've got. So maybe I've reached peak bass? Moral is - no GAS at the moment but wouldn't be surprised if some whim takes my fancy next year. @funkle's build thread is quite inspiring!
  16. oooh Ocean turquoise would look lovely. Sherwood green metallic too... Outside traditional guitar colours BMW's Isle of Man green would look great on a bass...
  17. There’s a guy around here who recolours historical photos and sticks them on Facebook - it’s amazing how often the york stone buildings come out as red brick… so it wouldn’t surprise me if these AI recolouring are more likely to recolour custom colour basses as red because it’s a more common custom colour of fender basses than any other…
  18. Last year I looked at vintage Fenders for a bit a toyed with the idea of a nice mid 60s P. Didn’t go that direction in the end but one thing I did notice was a lot of shady people being shady, and a practice for being economical with the truth and wording things very carefully to give impressions of provenance
  19. Daphne or sea foam I would guess from the tone on the black and white photo
  20. Erm is that his face on the pickguard?
  21. oooh I like the colour
  22. payments is relatively simple - an active directory of stock with multiple ways to buy which updates once payment is taken.... is a lot more difficult and a new and more expensive website build and maintain. For something specialist like bass guitars I doubt the margins are crazy and for 90% of their customers their cheaper and more manual system will work just as well.
  23. Page three and we are finally getting somewhere ! Yes Ricky! Yes!
  24. So the high point of Yamahas bolt on designs vs a mid spec fender japan jazz that’s not really a jazz and happens to be the colour you like?
  25. did @Beedster used to have one?
