  1. TBH mate I’m not sure you would like the colour of WoTs money - it’s close in colour to clown vomit - but with variations of “copper turd” and “newkie brown puke” added in
  2. Depends - they might have a really clear idea of how to find the right person - from getting an email to sending a pre-writer survey form and faq that then returns to them as a spreadsheet then shortlisting from that, inviting to audition via pre filled out emails … if you’re set up for that then 20 messages on FB from every Tom, Richard or Jaco in the area asking their own random questions or wanting to know different things - or in some cases just waste your time…
  3. I like clown vomit. If you have to pick a name for a colour it's funny. What would you call it?
  4. you know there's a range of nominal things I've seen people focus on in bass gear - the nominal name given to the colour is a new one. If it helps you spend your £3600 you could call it Glitter finish close to Pantone 7737c?

    Unhappy

there's a Freedom custom guitar research one for sale right now that's an Active 5 string P .... Freedom are super high end Japanese luthier
  6. Well it is a 50s reissue!!
  7. it's about finding a pigment rather than a dye based ink/stain... I enjoyed the fact that with art stuff it was actually tested for lightfastness by the makers... This was my body... it went darker than I wanted the grain was only as apparent in bright sunlight and you can see the spots I rubbed through.
  8. If values are the same a new loom won’t change the sound, just make the knobs nicer to twiddle
  9. I ended up working out a similar thing when I did my build - but used my fine art background and ended up looking at pigment based watercolours (not dye based) - as for art there’s obvious needs to create light fast colours - these are fantastic and super concentrated - not crazy expensive either https://www.docmartins.com/collections/hydrus-fine-art-watercolor-bottles I wiped on with a sponge in thin layers (like you would watercolours) and did a dark blue to black blue burst finish - topped with chestnuts wipe on laquer tbh writing this makes me want to make something again in a brighter colour!!
  10. double post
  11. Sometimes the things that are important to one person isn’t to another. For some folk weight or nut width is super important, for others it makes less difference…. History of what you’ve learned on, technique, style of music and all that all that go into it even between people of the same competence… also a major thing… how many basses do you own… I get the impression Lozz has a few basses … if you only have two or three basses you’ll sweat the small stuff - other folk will just have 50 instruments…
  12. That was a small Stonehenge
  13. Well more like not sticking to it and then realising! he even had a jazz bass phase a few months back!
  14. crikey, that will be hard to play
  15. hold up, there's a sunny bit of Yorkshire?!
  16. Out of interest do you have the equivalent of band leaders
  17. Personally, Ild probably be part of a different church soon after
  18. If you look up Japanese catalogs on a computer you can then use google translate with the camera on your phone to translate … it’s not amazing but can get the gist of it
  19. I tried an Excess once so I know a wee bit about that one!
  20. Last two churchs used too, always in the the week before you were playing. Current one not so much, but we're currently only 2-3 band members cos of covid. I've always been blessed to be in situations where embracing the craziness and learning as a musician was possible vs getting jaded and demotivated by it. I started learning bass as my first ever instrument at 18 when I went to Uni.... within 6 months I had been conviced to play on a Sunday. There's was quite a learning curve- but you know what folk put up with me as a complete beginner who didn't know what they were doing so I can put up with others in that situation.
  21. school me (in something I really shouldn't be having an Interest in... ) The middle one is the fretless series one Arpage .... so pickups further apart... Passion are left and right, pickups closer together... is the left hand one a series 2 (carbon neck?) and the right hand one a series 3
  22. Bought a Hellborg amp off one of you in a dream last night... who was it? can we talk in real life?

just for clarity the dream was about a new bass amp, and I dreamed of meeting someone from here and discussing if I wanted the cabs and they might not fit in my car....
I was not actually dreaming of being on here talking to you lot! :D

  23. I imagine you want something amber tinted for that
  24. We have a rota with the forthcoming year sketched out with the series, breaks and Easter, Christmas planned in and who’s preaching and what they are preaching on….
  25. You do realise if you move this guitar on and ever want to get into that octave again it’s going to have to be leather trousers?
