  1. I can't really play guitar but decided I should learn... I had an acoustic and and electric... It really depends what you want to play. The benefit of the acoustic is you just pick it up and go, no amp, no pedals, no cables... and for learning in a unstructured manner I was that was really good as I played it more. I sold the acoustic cos the electric was "better", it continued to gather dust and got sold... a while later I bought another acoustic, it gets played... the electric I bought to learn at the start of lockdown 2020... yep, gathers dust.
  2. So a used BB1200s would be better but then!
  3. Maybe a question for Trav - I’m guessing thr BBPH is the same placement as his old bb1100s … so when abouts did the bb line move the neck pickup forward a bit?
  4. Not unless you know something I don’t! @CHRISDABASS????
  5. It was an example of where to look rather than a recomendation. For all I know the Japanese says “this neck is like a banana”
  6. Multi lingual Peavey discussions... Kudos 👊
  7. anything on eBay in Japan it's worth checking on Digimart to see if the original shop will sell it to you rather than the tons of resellers on eBay... this one for instance is better condition and £450 plus shipping, plus VAT and import... https://www.digimart.net/cat03/shop169/DS07261732/
  8. all in good time. (AKA I've been waiting a year, it's apparently a couple of weeks away, I'll be happy if it's this side of Christmas! It's not a limelight btw)
  9. I’ll take you up on that when my NBD happens …
  10. Great post. The definitive best way to get the best tone out of me is to replace me with a pro. If you’re not going to do that just bodge it in the way that sounds best to you.
  11. What do you use it for? I am the kind of player who doesn't really use pedals. But also play at church straight into a PA with no backline, and for me the ability to have an amp and cab sim, and some Eq makes the HX stomp worth it for me. Now I've got that I can branch out into compression, chorus, drive whatever if I want too. It's a lot easier to carry around than an amp
  12. (it's quite clever)
  13. calling @castlemaine22 .... wanna show off the solution you've got on your P bass?!
  14. Just buy the damn thing!

  16. So - I’ve heard this a few times (I think @ped started it) where OMG only effects one of the coils of the pickup. how does that work? Does the position of the cap to ground care which coil it is working on or is it on the whole output? ie in my sketch - what’s the difference?
  17. Really? apparently
  18. that looks good!
  19. What have you switched too?
  20. Penny drops
  21. Where? And still??
  22. are you looking for a balanced sensible response or us to just agree with you to help you convince Mrs Maude?
  23. So... the Glock 2 band has a very deep clear bottom end and a very high high point. I suspect in a Fender style bass it would be amazing, the bottom end would add bass in a really clear way, and the top end sparkle. But my SS1 already had a really wide sound palette with probably scooped mid and a lot on top already. The Warwick preamp has a high low point and a low high point, so the low adds the bass adds low mid booty, and the highs adds the high mids too. It's frequency points sounds very very Warwick. What I found with the glock was that it didn't add any low mids (where I was lacking) but added loads of low bass (where I wasn't) - cutting bass just made my streamer anemic, adding bass just made everything too boomy. The top end control cutting was fine, but adding was adding a lot to a already treble bass. I would think if you are adding it to a fender type sound bass it would be a fantastic preamp... but on my streamer it was a bad fit. If I were advising anyone on a clean/clear preamp though I would find it hard to go beyond John east's uni-pre
  24. East was going to be my example of super clean, hifi uncoloured type sound. Glockenklang similar. Aguilar, Sadowsky and I geuss Darkglass are going to have more colour.
  25. Interesting how the Smith and Wal have the same pickup placement, and then the others are centred around the front half of the bridge on the Wal and the neck pickup being a step forward
