  1. I think that sometime around 1977 it seems to show Yamaha both setting themselves up for more export, and go for the high end with instruments like the BB1200. By the late 70's under the Yamaha brand as far as I can see it's all their own designs rather than copies of Fender or Gibson... I think the headstock protection in US domestic markets and the fabled lawsuit over a Gibson scroll was a wee bit later - after Yamaha had started doing their own thing.
  2. that's a vintage mid 70's turdburst. stick that on a Fender and it would be worth big bucks now!
  3. well they were closer the year before....
  4. 1977 when the BB range launched. They had a direct copy of a P bass called a PB400 in previous years...
  5. UPS have it in the UK - looks like it came in via tilbury last night
  6. it's ok - it's an amazing album. (don't think Thundercat played a Yamaha on it though)
  7. every time Al write yammy it makes King Kunta go through my head!
  8. I think, if I wasn't married, I would go for lasses closer to my age to be honest.
  9. seeing as the first items on his wikipedia discography are from after the first Yamaha BB came out.... I doubt it. Did you have any input in design of the AK47? Out of interest - if we all were having this discussion in a pub do you verbally call Yamaha "Yammy" as well as write it?
  10. we took control of our borders, money and laws, and now have sovereignty to declare our own idea of how time works without being told so by anybody. Celebrate it!
  11. You don’t see them that often though for sale. The one you sold was beautiful
  12. One of the few bass makers I’ve not tried but want too.
  13. Not sure I've posted this pics in this thread?! 1999 and I added a East Uni Pre because... um I really didn't like the Bart pre. It's pretty good
  14. Now this Friday - but marked with DELAY
  15. I was about to say the same thing. I had a fretless for a while, and I don’t think fretless is a thing in the music I listen too, so possibly I should have started with my technique - but I realised I was having to focus really hard to play and sound exactly like I normally do (but slightly out of tune) ive given my basses to other people To play and they sound incredible. probably shows the weak link in my gear!
