Erm - I think @StickyDBRmf is referring to calling a Yamaha “yammy” rather than any particular sound the bass makes!! (unless Nathan East pops up as a singer in the records singing “Yammy Yammy Yammy”.)

I got some Edifier H850 last year for Christmas - turned up broken in the same place yours were. Ebay seller refunded and didn't want them back. I ended up fixing with A LOT of electrical tape and they sound ok. Ended up getting some secondhand AKG K-240-DF which I really like but are 600 ohms so had to buy a wee mixing desk to power them!

Oddly I preferred it with a different pickup in it. If I had known what I know now, and had the finances I enjoy now rather than when I sold it, I would have kept it and put a different pickup in it. But oh well
