So You are arguing that the meaning of the word in the English language can change from a lute maker to a bowed instrument maker when the style changed, but not from a bowed instrument maker to a solid body guitar maker? I am pretty sure that in American English, (and probably British English) the term Luthier would be used to describe the maker of stringed instruments with necks, eg guitars. Likewise Hamilton won the title last year - even though the Firarri was a quicker car and Alonso was getting better results than that awful McLaren disserved. But you are right going from a AC to a Stenback, to a Harley Benton will not make you a better player. me changing my Golf to a Mercedes Benz, or Citroen C1 will not make my commute to work any quicker. Some people will justify the cost of the Merc. The Citroen driver may look at me and wonder how I can justify the cost. So even though we probably agree that the bass, or car, is not the determYou are basically arguing that your choice of fender custom shop (like my Golf) is far better than the Merc (which you’ve never driven) because the merc is unaffordable (to you)?

What I’m really confused about. Why don’t you go and buy what I presume is a 70s fender precision bass like that man in the picture and Er play it and be happy. you could then make a thread along the lines of “look at my lovely precision bass like my bass playing hero of mine, it makes me really happy to own and play it” - and you need not concern yourself about other manufacturers that you’ve not played, and can’t justify buying and - well you’ve got a lovely precision bass so you’re happy ...
-
The oddest thing i find is starting an odd “they are expensive and crap and not with the money (though I’ve never played one)“ thread is picking a slightly obscure American luthier who I don’t think that many of us on basschat will have played either. not enough to care passionately about
-
So what was the question? TRS will have a common ground and two rings - one for each switch or Pedal. Which is why summing to mono didn’t work. work out the wiring and any pedal that works in the same way will probably work
-
You need to look up which ring is the ground - I’m pretty sure you can hook up two expession pedals, or two switches

it's all got a bit stupidly out of hand over the OP not realising that properly-done nitro was shiny, and said nitro getting a crack in transportation hasn't it?
-
this thread has taken a strange turn

No more knobs!! wait did I quote the wrong post? 🤣
-
Andy - ever felt a deficiency in amount of knobs you have on you bass? Marcus and sire can help!
-
It’s a Marcus Miller jazz - it the pickguard that is making it look a little clunky- not the screws that at least give the pickguard a useful reason for being that shape otherwise what you are describing is a blue Sadowsky jazz with 70s spacing and a maple neck!
-
what he said. At the end of the day, you got a bass you like. If you dwell on the attitude of the maker too much you'll end up not liking it.

lovely. I thought I had it bad with one two year old!

you not finished yet?

I heard that there was a covid outbreak in the sorting office where Andy lives. No post for a couple of weeks

My take... there wasn't really much wrong with the bass, just a few things that needed attention. The builder is a bit brusque and not good at customer service. The buyer started a conversation starting like he was looking for things to complain about, builder probably reacted to that. I'm sure he's had buyers like that before, get £50 for some small scratch and then find a million more things they want rectified... The buyer is actually happy with the bass except for a few things. The builder is still not good at customer service. It all esculates on Basschat to the point where the buyer and the builder having a mature conversation about what would sort it out isn't possible. €100 back for crack in the nitro when it arrives is probably fair... if not the buyer would need to say what would be. This thread, and language/culture problems means that that conversation probably doesn't happen. Builder is still not good at customer service, and annoyed about this thread. My take is that if the buyer and builder both spoke the same language this whole thing probably wouldn't have happened. Some of the subtly is being lost. Blunt german/polish comes across as ruder than it would be in german, spanish into english also looses some of its preciseness. I wonder too if the builder has ended up growing too quickly, and has got to the point where he needs customer service help. They seem to have a business model based around a user customisable custom shop - when he was selling a £800 bass the quality difference people expect is different to a £2000 bass. But from the builders POV the £1k of extra options prob isn't adding much to the profit. He's seeing it as a £800 that people are choosing to spend more on to get fancy pickups etc.

Sounds Just like Gala @NikNik

they were a big chunk cheaper when WoT bought his first one at the start too. I don't think he spent £2k like the OP
-
So he’s not making them himself then?
