  1. So question time... if I were really talented, like a Yorkshire based Jens Ritter, and had built a bass I would have a queue of people wanting to buy it... If had bolted together an P neck, a P body and made a bitsa P bass or other fender bass- I’ve seen them advertised, and people will buy them... What if you’ve made something a bit less generic, but not to a pro level? Will people want them, or is it better to split the bass and part it out?
  2. Half way though trying the tuff cab leather effect. Undecided if it’s going to look any good in the end
  3. So I’ve got a new bass incoming next week so it might change ... This was the year that a Sadowsky jazz supplanted all my other basses, but I actually traded that last year. Best this year was my HX Stomp - what a step up from the Zoom B3n that is- fits with what I’m doing perfectly and just sounds good. I don’t use half the features but still! worst... I don’t really have one, I won a set of chromes at the Midlands bass bash - get to try flats - jury is still out if I like them or not
  4. You could just do it in the global... and if you want to save blocks any cab block will have one on
  5. that looks amazing! I was swithering between doing green and matching my Walkabout cab or trying something else... Influenced by your suitcases too... you could go for leather corners?!
  6. Penny dropped.... I was wondering how it was that the FX worked for you and why Line6 would release the HX FX and the HX Stomp... then realised- guitarists would need the amp modelling way more than bass players would!
  7. Bit like one bass cab or another sat in the backline supporting the PA
  8. @warwickhunt was selling one not so long ago up in your bit of the world. I tried it, it was nice but I didn't know what the switches were doing
  9. I wonder how a early G&L L1000 like mine would have gone down...
  10. so guessing the price of the aforementioned Berg HG310 you would need to have quite a big band before IEM got more expensive
  11. always the way- shop is judged on shifting new units of stuff, take PX in and secondhand to help that happen - but will price it to sell as the cash flow is more important than the potential value of the item... someone else thinks it's underpriced they buy it and try to sell it for more, because likely for them the potential value of the item is more important than the cashflow.
  12. Is it just me or are secondhand basses getting more expensive recently?

  13. for a bit of wider reading this is also good: https://reverb.com/news/interview-fender-visionary-dan-smith-on-how-to-turn-around-a-faltering-guitar-brand I really don't know what offends people about JV Squier being appreciated.
  14. I saw that and wished I lived up there. Glad it’s gone to one of us lot
  15. Heck no- they are more or less done...and all the spindles, just the last bit of snagging to go. The problem has been what with the big old DIY job, a stressful full time job and wanting to be a half decent husband and daddy I wore myself down, got sick with a chest infection and didn’t get better... so I’ve abandoned the hallway in its “almost finished” state, been off work in bed and taking anti biotics the doctor perscribed for the last three days. I had a bit more energy today and decided that if I was going to do something with it it would be what I wanted to do - rather than this blooming hallway... so first coat of paint on the box and I took my daughter to the library you didn’t need to know all that but it’s been a horrid month of feeling rubbish! My bass playing isn’t really affected apart from ‘stage demeanour’ but seeing that it’s been playing at church it is not that important I’m not putting on a show! but thanks for asking, radiators fitted on Monday!
  16. I’ve just come within a whisker of ordering a grill - then tried my insect mesh grill cloth and it actually looked ok over the black baffel so erm until my frame falls to pieces I may stick with that
  17. Also - my tip - buy the metal grill as Stevie recommends - the frame for the grill cloth is turning out to be harder work than it would have been just buying the metal grill
