  1. Anyone else up for a "how many different pickguards will Andy have made for this" sweepstake? Bonus points if you guess what he ends up with...
  2. To go on the outside?
  3. BEST NEWS I’VE HEARD ALL WEEKEND!
  4. Nice! Did you end up being able to keep your blue PJ or did that go?

Surprised to see this still here.
  7. does it make much difference to sound? I've used threaded nuts in bits builds before and to my ears, it makes a difference vs screws. (I prefer screws)
  8. wow - I guess everyone with 1969 fenders will be sticking the price up now!
  9. he wants to join your band too, but only if you practice every night like Oasis did....
  10. i see you're input and raise you.... https://www.guitarguitar.co.uk/product/181108334549003--fender-custom-shop-post-modern-p-bass-black-burst-spalted-maple
  11. 60's and 70's jazz are fairly different sounding to my ears. See if you can find someone who's done loads of pickup recordings. I downloaded a set from Talkbass about 10-15 years ago of P bass pickups recorded in the same bass - it's really interesting and I can crank them through headphones/stereo/bass rig to hear a rough guesstimate of the differences or at least the broad sound of them. Buy a nice set of something second-hand from here, and then if you're using a preamp or a wiring loom use a chocolate box connector or similar so you can swap pickups if you want without a soldering iron.
  12. Ismael bought my G&L - he's a lovely guy, really patient, good communications and it was a joy to sell him a much loved bass. Thank you @imembrive - enjoy it!
  13. They’ve done the HPJ metros for years haven’t they?
  14. Regardless of ability, sounds like a decent person
  15. I was intrigued what kind of person wants to practice 5 times a week. They might have been amazing, like that bass player from Oasis
  16. yeah - you didn't crop out what I guess is him in the video. I can't unwatch that can I?
  17. I wonder what he was actually expecting?
  18. I love the point of a gig where you realise you're not thinking about the instrument at all, it's just doing exactly what you want with no fuss. Normally less knobs helps me get to this point, both in the band and on the bass
  19. I have no idea about the pickups but I just stuck that preamp in a Lakland 55-94 - it is exceedingly good
  20. that's one of the now discontinued Japanese made ones
  21. John Entwhistle possibly would have debated that
  22. East uni pre is amazing and just so good. Here’s one I fitted in one of my basses recently
  23. and that's how the nickname Crazy big red knob kiwi came about
