  1. Behringer DI will be fine and last you for years.. after a certain level it will all work. The orchid is well reviewed and sounds really good and doesn’t cost much at all... plus made in the UK if I get a helix I will pick up a TRS-XLR as for me that is simpler and less likely to go missing at a gig.
  2. I’ve not got a helix yet. And bang for buck and for 99% of things the B3n is exceptional
  3. Ahhhh hello! No idea why your B3n hasn’t moved on the tracking btw
  4. The Zoom on B3n has been posted off to its new owner... !
  5. Look for a Orchid DI box which is v good sound quality for not much money. If you are shelling out loads on a Helix a semi decent DI should be possible. Didnt some EBS amps use TRS to power active basses from the amp?
  6. Or easier just have mono jack cables for mono jack use and TRS-XLR for plugging balances signals into the PA.
  7. Plus... many PA cabs are designed to be crossed over to subs at a certain frequency. If you want lots of low end they often aren’t designed to do that (but you need less low end than you might think) - one of the reasons you get a lot of people recomending the more expensive speakers is because they will be able to handle more low end.
  8. TRS is a 1/4” jack with three contacts I think You may have some issues with active basses as they normally use the middle ring and bottom bottom being linked to turn on the active circuit. A TRS to TRS might not do this.
  9. And since TC got bought out by the guys who own Behringer... I can't say I blame him. I imagine at one level he must be like us, bass gear nerds who change their gear from time to time, just because we want to try something new
  10. Is that a clock??! I mean its it’s not a daft idea if it is but wasn’t what I expected to see
  11. Aaahh all the basic reverbs were in the stereo list, not the mono where I was looking - explained why I was a big lost when faced with a random list of names and nothing like “plate”, “hall” or “spring”
  12. Plug in set up amp and cab, and playing and I’m like, meh sounds like *shrug* - then turn off the amp and cab and it’s like a “oooohhh - so that’s what it was doing” had a few more “ooh” moments playing. For me though the biggest plus is the input seemed to deal with a bigger dynamic range and output it nicely ... the zoom is good but into my IEM it does odd things, even at unity gain .. which I had always put down to my IEM ... turns out it might not be my IEM - I think this is linked to how hard I tend to hit the strings- so for me it’s a massive plus - but that’s more due to my playing style.
  13. Hmmm went to the music shop today, took my IEM and sat and played with a jazz bass and helix for an hour or so, then rushed home to compare it to my Zoom B3n ... interesting!
  14. might be useful if you elaborate on the differences
  15. A helix for the bass is the least of your problems!
  16. the LT or the full helix allows two inputs and two separate channels I think? If you're running the desk could one channel on the helix be for you, and the second act as an amp for a guitarist in your band (helping you switch to in ears)
  17. Speaking as a graphic designer - quite a lot of medium sized music companies do this, focus on the product technical design and then the visual design and marketing graphics come second place. Warwick, lovely looking basses.... look at their website! Markbass, industry leading position... interesting design choices Ashdown... brought out the little giant... But to be fair to them, employing another person with the aim of making the hard to quantify effect they will have must be a no brainer... skip the graphic designer and get it at a lower price point. They either employ someone and either pay big bucks or have someone doing stuff like MarkBass are doing - which isn't bad, it's just not very good, or they use an agency and pay lots of money...
  18. Depending on the isolation they give it might not go in...
  19. and left it a whole week almost - not cool @EBS_freak
  20. They have ten different options and they are trying to describe the differences so their customers can choose. I don't mind that too much as they are saying "we've done the thinking, and here are your options and what we think the differences are between them" - that way everyone who comes asking for a guitar with a bassy tone and not much attack in the highs should get pointed the same direction... this is much better than custom sandwiches being made up for each and every bass based on gut feel that an Elm/Ebony/MDF sandwich would be better for metal than the one with the elm and ebony the other way around
  21. Is the Qstrip an always on preamp style thing at the end or a effect you turn on and off?
  22. Build your own preamp, use the Tantalium caps like the early ones and it will get quite close. Mine can’t have cost more than £10
