  1. you know if you sell them and just use whatever one you’re thinking of that in six months or a year you’re going to want to buy more basses again?
  2. looks right to me - like this one. http://www.reallygreatguitars.com/product/superb-1991-warwick-6-string-custom-thumb-bass-in-red-ex-mario-cipollina-huey-lewis-the-news/#prettyPhoto you can see the one of the headstock where they have found the serial under the paint a wee bit.
  3. I wouldn't necessarily agree. That age of bass the serial will be at the end of the headstock, and probably filled in with the paint. I think they painted them with the nut stuck on as there won't be any finish under the nut.
  4. what does this mean? or what does it do? (possibly OT )
  5. For recording I've taken a wire, wound it around a part of the bridge so it stays fixed. I've then taped it to my upper arm with electrical tape. Not the most elegant solution but it worked!
  6. some of that flea playing is immense though - and to my ears it sounds pretty good
  7. ...Or not bother and buy a barefaced/Mesa or another brand who actually give you specs you are asking for. It’s not like there’s any special sauce in trickfish (or any other brand) that makes them stand out miles above the competition...
  8. The editor makes things way way easier To set up. you can do things like copy individual blocks from one patch to another too. (You May be able to do this on the unit but I haven’t worked out how)
  9. Excursion limit is different.
  10. Odd question - how does the audience hear the stereo? Do you run a cab on each side of the stage?
  11. as Dave said yes... and you can also program it to change other things at the same time. One switch to turn on the super ego, turn off a reverb and boost the highs in an amp model... or whatever you want to do... it's crazy powerful
  12. To be fair they probably don’t want some negative forum pile on. I don’t blame them. their site has the same “marketing” engineering schtick that so so many manufacturers have - the only difference between Bite guitars and AN other is they seem to have a massive lack of graphic and product design aesthetics when it comes to the one bit they have varied from Leo’s designs...
  13. How has this not sold? I thought this was the kinda bass that would fly off the forum.
  14. To be fair cement mortar instread of lime mortar is pretty poor. I can walk around our village and you can tell the walls where someone has used cement mortar in the past as the stone has all blown out instead of the mortar eroding!
  15. Back in the day I used to run the tone on my bass wide open and cut any treble on the amp. I was playing supporting an acoustic singer songwriter at a miners club - chilled acoustic music, me playing fairly busy lines but with a fat Motown sound Keeping way out the way of the singer and his guitar. while playing kinda got the fact that the gig Was going ok, my playing was good but it didn’t seem to hang together like it should. later in the toilet I’m complimented on my playing and the jam, stranglers and clash influences on our band... turns out the sound guy had decided I was playing punk
  16. Also own a metro WL which is an amazing amazing instrument. (Except mine isn’t sunburst)
  17. Or even... if the aim was extra stiffness (which was the reason given) the most common way of doing that is to use laminates in the neck (which is another join or eight) - if you really go to town you turn the wood laminates (like Warwick do) so the grain isn’t going the same way. oddly to use Warwick as an example - when they were made in smaller numbers they didn’t have a volute (or whatever we call it) - when they produced more out of less aged wood they introduced it.
  18. You can weigh it and work out its weight per cubed meter and then compare ... once you know that you can start to come up with rough figures of weight per thickness too.
  19. it's more a question - how much heavier that the equivalent alder or ash is it.
  20. look at what Bass Collection are doing. Their fender style copies are thinner. I imagine they've done the hard work at working out how thin they can make it. Also is it that heavy? And compared to what. Anything in a big slab will feel heavier than when it's trimmed down to size and given nice smooth edges.
  21. at least you tried
  22. Heel? That’s at the other end of the neck...
  23. I think it’s called a volute
