  1. Wow 😲
  2. A helix for the bass is the least of your problems!
  3. the LT or the full helix allows two inputs and two separate channels I think? If you're running the desk could one channel on the helix be for you, and the second act as an amp for a guitarist in your band (helping you switch to in ears)
  4. Speaking as a graphic designer - quite a lot of medium sized music companies do this, focus on the product technical design and then the visual design and marketing graphics come second place. Warwick, lovely looking basses.... look at their website! Markbass, industry leading position... interesting design choices Ashdown... brought out the little giant... But to be fair to them, employing another person with the aim of making the hard to quantify effect they will have must be a no brainer... skip the graphic designer and get it at a lower price point. They either employ someone and either pay big bucks or have someone doing stuff like MarkBass are doing - which isn't bad, it's just not very good, or they use an agency and pay lots of money...
  5. Depending on the isolation they give it might not go in...
  6. and left it a whole week almost - not cool @EBS_freak
  7. They have ten different options and they are trying to describe the differences so their customers can choose. I don't mind that too much as they are saying "we've done the thinking, and here are your options and what we think the differences are between them" - that way everyone who comes asking for a guitar with a bassy tone and not much attack in the highs should get pointed the same direction... this is much better than custom sandwiches being made up for each and every bass based on gut feel that an Elm/Ebony/MDF sandwich would be better for metal than the one with the elm and ebony the other way around
  8. Is the Qstrip an always on preamp style thing at the end or a effect you turn on and off?
  9. Build your own preamp, use the Tantalium caps like the early ones and it will get quite close. Mine can’t have cost more than £10
  10. Who’s Mark King again? Was he the fella in the Beatles, or is it U2?
  11. Also relevant for the self build cabs discussed in a UK/EU forum... Faital 12pr320 - £129 (Blue Arran) Eminence Kappalite 3012LF - £199 (lean) plus you will need a mid driver...
  12. The Grace Félix. Where the Hellborg is harmonically rich and warm the Félix is clean and precise (and tweakable. )
  13. Or not quite seamlessly, hence the topic...
  14. Owen let me visit for a bit and had a brief try on this, the API transformer and Warwick Hellborg... I used to use a Hellborg and in my memory it’s ‘my sound’ but I found this preamp to be the most versatile. And the sound is so erm precise - and clean in a way that it’s like listening to something through a top end PA with a really really good horns when everything else is through a struggling 20 year old over driven behringer PA
  15. Im guessing small workshops could use stronger glues in the 70s compared to now
  16. I used to use my DIY clone of a Caitlinbread SFT for that kinda thing...
  17. The Tattoo is completely different to Edinburgh International Festival and even The Edinburgh Fringe. The one you're thinking of, and preformed at would have probably have been the fringe. That tends to be big comedy gigs that make money and then everyone else spending money to put on their shows. I'm not sure if how many acts break even. Quality can vary. I spent £15 I didn't want to once while unemployed listening to a shite Londoner spend half an hour talk about erectile disfunction. I also had free shows in a cafe I ran that were really really good. The International is the orchestras, opera, comedy and more "high" culture type stuff. Usually at very high levels of quality. The end of festival fireworks is possibly the best fireworks display ever, set to live music. Tattoo is all the marching bands, the terraces by the castle and fireworks waking you up at about 11pm every night for a month. Tourists love it. They can probably afford to pay for musicians... even if it's not much once they shell out for august priced accommodation for the band!
  18. I might be interested in the HB pre
  19. Well if you want to swap it your stomp for my B3n I figure that will be bombproof ... and I’ll even buy you another one just to make sure!
  20. Well it’s got chromes on now, and we live less than 30 miles from each other so if you want to compare or even borrow sometime for a wee bit ...
  21. He’s a good guy I think. Seems to attract a band of haters on basschat when he posts but good to see that he keeps his eye on it here
  22. So the answer is @owen - yes, just do it!
  23. If that’s possible
