  1. Four things out of the ten tickets I bought... including first choice! (I passed on the bass and went for the flatwounds that I had been wanting to try and had already had in an online shopping basket) thanks to @bassmansam for donating
  2. My mum was raised a Methodist so I also was taught when growing up not to gamble ... so that might have been the first or second raffle I’ve entered in my life... jammy begger I am
  3. If it were me, which it’s not, I would have an always-on HPF designed to fit this cabs excersion limits. That way you are custom designing a solution for this specific cab. In my mind A general frequency selectable HPF is a different bit of kit to solve different problems and better suited to the preamp stage. ... mind you I’ve read this and if you’re using DSP for the crossover maybe the fixed HPF is just a natural thing that “of course we would do that”
  4. Reason I though my B3n would be useful
  5. Wait reduction?
  6. If I were accepting my own mortality in the way you are I would be looking at a little valve amp, like one of these 30w ashdown @sifi2112 is selling. For small size a vertical 210 optimised for efficiency would be good. If I were going the clean bass amp sound I would probably get a preamp of some kind (Zoom B3n) and a QSC K2 ... and then jamming can amplify more than the bass...
  7. I just dug out the cases for the basses - I'm actually excited pretty excited about this. Will see what fits into the car (coming down that way with the wife and child as it's pretty close to the inlaws) For @owen I'll try and fit 4 basses and an amp in there! The odd bitsa I've got is worth bringing as I reread the first post and realised Jon Shuker will be there and he sold me the ash for the body. Not that I play it much mind I probably would have sold it if it had any value!
  8. Firstly thanks for the post.... That trend is problem for you guys in the US where you're in the same territory as the manufacturing factory ... for us in the UK our problem is that we've a wide range of stuff available... from internet cheapies, to US companies such as Mesa which are supported via a distributer and repair network, but off the top of my head not many UK based companies (Ashdown being the only one I can think of off the top of my head), Markbass in Italy and Eich, Glockenklang in Germany.
  9. I’ve got a tort stingray puck guard and a tuner and bridge set from something (peavey) I can add to the raffle
  10. Please do. I just get a feeling these things wouldn’t work as well if we all didn’t bring anything!
  11. Do you think all the output Mosfets used in them are still in production?
  12. Went back and poked around their piles of random fabrics and coverings. They had some PVC faux leather stuff, non stretchy and by using the manufacturers reference on a sticker and the web I've found it's designed for upholstery on tube trains and busses and high wear places like that... which I think should do for my cab covering... I still need to ask how much it is, but the fancy expensive fabric they have is only a couple of quid a meter... comparing it to £50/m tolex or Tuff cab it sounds worth trying...
  13. Anyone bringing anything Helix? Would be interesting to compare to my Zoom B3n
  14. don't tell me that!
  15. Electrical tape works too. Used to work in catering and my skin used to react to anti bac stuff, dry out and split. Electrical tape keeps the cut together, feels and flexes enough to sound the same, just avoid folds
  16. And you have some reeeaaally nice stuff
  17. It doesn’t work like that. Each effects block has a value of capacity it takes up wherever it goes in the chain. The values are published somewhere
  18. That’s what I was thinking, but couldn’t remember the name.
  19. Which one was which? Is the 6 string Yamaha guy Abraham? Great drummer
  20. one in the for sale forum now...
  21. The old 80% up on the volume for the vintage flavour trick... I think you're going to enjoy trying my L1000 at the midlands bass bash as a comparison. Back off to about 80% on volume bass and treble and you're in P bass territory with it. (It's got an old set of DR Fatbeams on at the moment, not flats though.)
  22. @owen - you need another?
  23. Not sure - question though - what kinda tone you going for that a HPF is so integral? You’re using barefaced stuff which I think is designed to be able to take a big bottom?
  24. I like the idea that I pay for tickets, money goes to charity and their are higher chances I might win some little thing. It’s going to charity after all.
  25. Mesa gear is not cheap, nor are parts but I was impressed with their distributors CS and that they were able to point me to an authorised tech who know his stuff, and Mesa specific stuff 20 min drive away was good.
