1. Thing is - a hard working pro bassist who has the battered well played fodera that goes everywhere with them... Are probably not likely to be on basschat much!
 2. Wow this topic took off! Reason for starting it is one of basses is an amazingamazing instrument - lovely to play ... But with my technique it just doesn't get played.... If I play with a pick or slap or something I don't do it sounds great... Just not with my playing style it seems
 3. So there are good instruments and there are the really great ones - and it's hard to quantify what makes them great, but they sound good play good and have an evenness across the neck. Instruments you are lucky to own... Ever had one and just not clicked with the sound it makes when you play it?
What about the basses Leo designed at G&L. Is their version of a J and P a copy as it was himself who designed it in the first place?
improvement?
 5.
My Streamer Jazzman. I know hardly anything about it really.I was told on the Warwick forums this is possibly one of the very first Custom shop basses made. They were apparently around the shows like NAMM etc showing what they could do. I have no paper work of any kind with it i would like to know more so if anyone knows anything about it. Let me know. I've had it years now bought it off some guy on ebay for a stupidly low price (which was unbelievable and i'm still shocked). Im guessing its an ash body. AAA Birdseye neck and the top i'm not sure
When I asked about mine Hans said the mother of pearl truss rod cover was something they did for the special order custom shop editions right at the start... my 1985 custom shop bass, made in West Germany, may predate yours!
 6.
That's not a USA Hamer, it's one of the later import models.
how do you tell them apart?
 7.
Here's one hidden on Ebay... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Electric-bass-guitar-/2721495892?hash=item3f5d645434:g:tOEAAOSwFNZW0
. Sssssshhhh!
 8.
There's one on eBay at the moment.
I'll have a look cheers
 9. Warwickhunt used to have a 5 string green cruise bass... Should have bought it when he sold it. Would be on that like a flash if it came up for sale again
 10. So you're a a manufacturer of quality printed mousemats. And a bit bummed no one uses mousemat anymore. So you make printed ones - targeted directly to your fender fan with the slogan "I love my fender bass" and then do you go and find photos of the iconic beautiful fender bass designs? do ye f..... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FENDER-I-LOVE-MY-FENDER-BASS-GUITAR-MOUSE-MAT-/222009738317?hash=item33b0cfc44d:g:7hcAAOSwFnFV8CaP
 11.
That's the one I keep going back to lust at. A passive one like that Sadly, can't be arsed to sell another bass, I'm drained
you'll get your mojo back in a week or two
 12.
I might hold you to that!

...which would have broadly the same effect as a sub-£500 category!
hehe
 13.
I for one wholeheartedly agree with Twincam. I hardly ever look at the Basses For Sale section any more because it seems to be predominantly high-end instruments - most of which are for sale from mainland EU countries. There's seldom anything within either my budget or scope of interest any more. For the same reason, I haven't sold anything on here in several years. The fee isn't an issue; simply the fact that it feels like my modestly priced, niche-interest MIJ stuff would inevitably disappear under a mountain of ten grand Foderas! A sub-£500 section would be incredibly helpful & would do nothing to interfere with the marketing of higher-value instruments. It would only help make the Marketplace more accessible - and probably busier. Jon.
Feel free to PM a list!
 14.
Nice find! Interesting that they have the string through body option where the Shaftesbury does not. I don't know what kind of wood Linden is but the body of mine looks like Ash.
Linden is basswood/lime
 15. They are not trendy at all but there's something about the design of Warwicks I love.
 16.
Yes and no. Yes, that's typical of a commercial cab. No, it's not a good target for a DIY cab. Using tens a 50-55Hz f3 and 35-40Hz f10 is a reasonable target, easily achieved. You'd need to go around 40-45L per driver, but the external dimensions will only be a few cm larger than 25-30L per driver, and with properly braced 12mm plywood construction and neo drivers the weight won't be bad. The Deltalite II 2510 is my go-to electric bass ten.
. You will save yourself (the OP) a lot of time and money if you stick "bill fitzmaurice simplexx " into Google and buy some plans....
 17.
No but I am working on one of those the moment. Looking for names working title is Neo (babe magnet)? Jokes aside it is a better name than Monique.
a 6sl7 preamp?
 18. don't worry I'll now always go for 5.67 makes me think of the Pixie's monkeys gone to heaven
 19.
In fairness, factory fretless ones aren't as common, so probably worth £23.45 more. My "odd bids" always end with £6.66. Dunno what that says about me. J.
Useful info for anyone ever bidding on quality japanese basses on eBay
 20.
Cheers for the comments on the Dolphin Loving that Thumb, Luke!
I love, it. The Streamer is all delicate mids, it's all precise and snappy and has a middy growl.... and all the variations that the ACG preamp gives you. The Thumb is a absolute beast, big bottom, massive lower mid growl and feels like it's going to take your arm off. They're two good uns, the thumb is just under 9lb and the streamer a fair bit under 8lb so not heavy either.
 21. I'm confused, Beedster is now a Wal hire service?
