1. I love the vaneer between the body and the top (wenge?) it looks like little blocks cos of the grain!
 2.
A Shergold Marathon!!
there was one of them for sale up here dirt cheap a month ago. swithered on grabbing it and didn't in the end as I didn't want one!
 3. go jam with him- just you, him maybe a drummer - and just make noise and let him improvise over the top of it. Soon learn that way. Plus it's fun. Then you start improvising too... then you learn to know where you're both likely to go so you can play off each other. it's fun
 4. was looking through your list of possible P/X ... and you've got a BB1024x in there... I've not got one of them but next post down on the forum is someone selling a BB1204x.... ah I wonder if they would be interested in that lovely gold clover? I asked myself... nope cos that's you too! I'm not sure it is a basschat first but are you selling a bass and asking for the same bass in trade all at the same time?
 5.
Well the tobacco burst one went back yesterday and I was supposed to get the caramel one today but the couriers decided that they'd rather deliver it back to the shop that I was buying it from - idiots The upshot is that I will be gigging this weekend with no back up as they can't get one to me until Friday and I'll probably be half way to Aberdeen by the time it arrives. I've spoken with the guy who's been looking after me and he's left it with me to decide what I want to do as originally I had said that if they couldn't get one to me by today then I'd have to cancel the order. I will say that I've had excellent service so far from Yamaha Music London where I bought it from and they've done everything possible to get things sorted out. But it's kind of taken the shine off getting it now so I really don't know what to do.
messed you about a bit... how much of a discount off a 2025 will they give you?
 6.
I'm in exactly the same boat! The Jag has been my workhorse, used every day for nearly a decade. In Hot Rod Red with the matching headstock (phworr) But.... To have it in Daphne Blue.... Oh my...
that's good to hear - the idea was one of my favourite - and then when they brought it out... it didn't have "amazing" reviews so I never picked one up... it's good to hear that they are "the one" for people. mmmm silver glitter finished jaguar.... mmm
 7. .... http://basschat.co.uk/topic/256314-selling-on-behalf-of-friends/ ahem ...
 8.
That looks like a P type neck at the nut.... ?? which I prefer. Lovely.
please either buy this or stop bumping it!
 9.
thanks guys,i'm really loving this bass to bits & it's great to get back onto 4 strings again,no more 5's for me.
looks great
 10. Not tempted by the gold clover bass in the sale forum? Save some soldering for you
 11.
I'm easy on active or passive but I suspect that I have active tendencies for the added punch. 4 strings definitely Probably more of a 70s sound
the older '75ri is one of the nicest Fender jazzes I've ever played. Bass direct have two secondhand at the mo. http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/Fender_Jazz_75_RI_NAT_Maple_03.html Won't do added punch but you'll have change for a nice precision too!
 12. that wasn't me being facetious by the way - it was a "go and play stuff and see" Do you want it to be traditional looking or with a few modern turns? passive sound or active super jazz? 4 or 5 strings? 60's or 70's jazz sound? - Not strictly a Jazz but I would recommend trying out the Yamaha BB series. this might just be in budget if you ask nice http://www.bassgear.co.uk/product/sadowsky-nyc-5-2/
 13. in bass direct or bass gear or the gallery trying everything they have in stock. See what speaks to you.
 14. Great looking bass glitterGASlust
 15.
Last Nights Gig "Rig". Schroeder 18PL and two Schroeder Mini 8+L driven by a TecAmp BonaFide. On the Night Morning After the Night Before
1) that the new overwater? 2) your rigs will last longer if you don't leave them in the garden overnight after a gig
 16.
In the meantime I´m a bit further with my DIY basspreamp quest. The BP1 finds no use anymore. I´ve perfboarded a 3 stage FET preamp with with the intention to simulate the Bassman 135 preamp wit FETs. It has one volume control and a bright switch with 5 frequencies which sounds nice. After fiddling with a tonestack which I didn´t like I finally added a trusty workhorse EQ which I know very well from my studiowork. It´s a DIYed API553-stylee 3 band swinging input EQ. For techies: It´s inductor based, low and mid band proportional Q bell filters and a shelving HF filter. All bands have 3 switchable frequencies which are optimized for my basses. Finding the good sounding frequencies took 10hrs alone... The output stage is a Melcor DOA driving an API 2623 transformer. Here´s some porn, inside: http://www.directupl...qao7pgu_jpg.htm Outside, the one with the silver frontpanel: http://www.directupl...8mifzzz_jpg.htm No tubes, sorry.... The single G9 PTP Basspre is in the works, too. The layout and most of the drillwork is done, turretboard stuffed... Pictures to follow...
love the EQ! I used to have the Warwick Hellborg preamp and been tempted to do a build based around a API 312 (possibly just for bass so without the input transformer) - was wondering if I would build an EQ too and your post has inspired me! Liked looking at the G9 preamp too- not found that before.
 17.
still amazed no one has taken this guys arm off! you will never get a rig as amazing as this for such little money! it even includes delivery!!!!! you would just about get two passive berg cags used for this. c, mon Luke, how long have you wanted one of these?
long enough that i went bought something else
 18.
I think you'd be hard pushed to find another pre EB at that price!
yep and almost year of birth bass too!
 19. I aways wondered what tBBC did next - cunning disguise, i remember the bare chest- but not the face....
 20.
Go on, you know you want to
stingrayGasnotbeing helped here
 21.
The bbs are heavy end of! that was the reason I went looking at others but in the end the tone. String spacing and playability brought me back. My current 1025 came better set up and balances better than my 1024 without a hint of neck dive on a wide leather strap. I still get pain after several hours so am considering other strap options. ive only played 1 424 and thought it was very good but got a good deal on my 1025 so decided it was worth the extra. The upgrades are quite substantial but if your gonna notice a massive difference im not so sure. Maybe if you can order one with a 30 day return A-B it with your 425 in a band setting and decide then.
my old bb1200 is about 9lb which isnt too bad
 22. I saw something on gumtree for £50 at the weekend and bought it - bit daft and shouldn't of so don't know how I feel about it.
 23.
I'm really struggling just now whether to go for a 1025 or stick with the 425. The 425 is about 90% of what I want sound and playability wise. If I had a negative it would be that it's quite heavy but I think it could be more to do with the slight neck dive causing me to have to hold it and this in turn giving me a sore shoulder over the course of a 4-5 hour gig rather than the actual weight. I have a wide neoprene strap that I've used for years so a strap isn't the answer. I wonder if a set of Ultralights would help matters? I have the money to get the 1025 now but I'm wondering if it's going to be worth it to me to pay more than twice what the 425 cost me to get that extra 10%, even 5% would do.
if that 10% is weight then worth it.
